Growing up and maturing is realizing James May has intellect and range far beyond a car television show. He has been my favorite of the trio to watch his projects outside of TG and GT
Agreed. I always thought May was a legit genius, certainly the smartest of the three, but Clarkson has the best mastery of people's attention. Clarkson would be far more interesting to run into at the bar, but I'm sure I'd walk away from a conversation with May quite a bit smarter, and more humbled.
James May’s presence as the stable mature one in the group is really a big piece of why the trio’s dynamic worked so well. It felt like a very relatable friend group. All three of them have different personalities that meld into a friend circle, quite like in real life.
I remember watching a talk show when I was in the UK and the hosts were riffing on the guest’s pink rugby shirt. Pretty sure it must have been James May, who countered their description of “gay Dennis the Menace” by suggesting it was more of a “furious bee” look.
Ok, in the heyday of the original trio on Top Gear, the joke was that James May could steal your girl with one look, and his hair seemed to play into that. How in the world does the man's hair still look this good years later??

James May’s sense of fashion is kinda slept on. But honestly he knows how to pull of a clean understated look
