Is this the start of the have more babies agenda?

I'm 54 now, my youngest is 16, I no longer due to my disabilities, plus I left the UK 20 years ago so I'm out of it, thankfully! But when I was in my early 30s, my mum was in her early 50s, still working full-time and living a few hours away. My oldest was still in primary school and we lived in Nottingham. She went to a childminder for an hour or so before school and a few hours afterwards, depending on traffic! But before that, she'd been in day nursery. When I very first started working, as an admin assistant, before moving into coding - thanks to also studying part-time for an OU degree in computing, I was paying roughly half my salary in childcare fees. Without a partner, back then, it would have been untenable. But it got me into the company and I got noticed and promoted. I was working in IT, and I was the only woman developer on the team, and the most junior. My now ex-husband worked shifts, so that often meant that childcare in the evenings and on weekends fell solely on me. He was local, but his mum was dead and his dad also still worked full-time. His siblings didn't have kids yet and also worked. But it often meant that I couldn't stay late, work overtime, or work weekends, or go spend 2-3 days working 4 hrs away at a client's site. I got often got shit from the other guys on my team, when I had to go home to pick up my kid - because I had no one else! I did stay late sometimes. I did work some weekends. When my ex's shifts allowed it but it still wasn't enough! The irony was - he worked at the same company in first line IT support, and they all knew him, worked with him. The worst for me, though, was the shaming that I received from a few other women in the wider department. Women who were local, who had an extensive support network, who had a mum who lived on the next street over to them! Women who weren't struggling financially because a big chunk of their salary was going on childcare because their mum's did it all. They were also working mums, so if they could do a lot of overtime and take work home every night, why couldn't I?
