So it's come to this...

Im sick of trying to remember if I took my pills. At what point did medication become one of my food groups? Of course my weed should be there. It's medical use, and I ration myself to 0.5 grams a day.
MaximumJones@reddit
Only 10 pills a day?
MrBrawn@reddit
My mom's looks like a tackle box.
BJoe1976@reddit
After being diagnosed as Type 2 last fall, I went to Harbor Freight and bought one of their small ammo boxes to keep my glucose reader, needles, lancets, alcohol wipes, and test strips in. Cost me $6+Tax and works perfectly!
BJoe1976@reddit
Obvious_Process603@reddit
I’ve never been into a Harbor Freight and never had any need for an ammo box but I know really want some.
BJoe1976@reddit
They are really handy, same with their tool bags, pricing it pretty decent on them too. Did see something on Instagram from a trans woman that referred to herself as a Handy Ma’am. She ran across a post in I think TicToc of a woman using her boyfriend’s Milwaukee tool bag as a purse and for all excited since she had a ton of those bags herself!
makingotherplans@reddit
I have a friend who works at Poison Control and they highly recommend a tackle box or tough sealed box like this with a padlock, for all medications, prescription or over the counter, because it would save so many children’s lives.
Grandkids come to visit and they are so good at getting into purses and bags and cupboards and they can open childproof caps easily.
Same for anyone living with a partner with dementia…so many dementia patients get poisoned by other people’s medications or even worse by Tide Pods or cleaning stuff.
And a tackle box with a lock for all that as well is so important.
You did it for convenience, but pat yourself on the back because it’s also lifesaving!
BJoe1976@reddit
Never thought about that, mainly since I don’t have kids and my Dad so far is not showing signs of dementia (his Mom and her Mom both had it), so luckily that wouldn’t be necessary for the pointy stuff, the insulin it self is in a small fridge that is not in the kitchen as well.
makingotherplans@reddit
And maybe it won’t apply to you, yet…but others read comments, and our kids are having kids or were getting nephews and nieces and others…so I like to spread the word when I see someone doing something smart
Equal_Insect8488@reddit
Gett an ammo case, it'll look badass
BJoe1976@reddit
I was looking cheap, plus it stays home so I don’t need to show it off.
Equal_Insect8488@reddit
Of course, but you get to feel like Commando every time you open it!
BJoe1976@reddit
That’s not a big deal to me, it’s just sturdy and a convenient carrier for the stuff.
Equal_Insect8488@reddit
You're right, of course. And what works for you, works for you. I was just making a funny :-)
Still punk as f*ck, yes we are

Those are awesome. I have two in my car for random stuff in the trunk. Sometimes on sale for $4 lol
BJoe1976@reddit
I also have a few in different sizes, one that is a mobile model building kit, basically everything but the paint, another that I keep a 1/24 (really more like 1/20 scale) R/C rock buggy in. Even have a few of there tool bags for different R/C related things.
Big77Ben2@reddit
Great ideas. My car has these little side cubbies in the trunk that are the perfect size. Better than ratchet straps or extra gloves or whatever just floating around.
Embarrassed-Pepper-5@reddit
As a joke, I bought my mom a huge med organizer. She was legit excited to get it. My joke backfired 😂😂
chamrockblarneystone@reddit
Lost a bunch of weight on Zepbound and I’m down to 7! That felt pretty good.
Irisgrower2@reddit
I just started blood pressure meds today. I feel defeated
mortalitylost@reddit
If you do any of nicotine, caffeine or alcohol, those can contribute way more than you think.
Irisgrower2@reddit
I'm ready for a lifestyle change.
Kalathefox@reddit
Now that you have something driving you, your chances of success are much higher.
I was able to finally (after probably 6 years of "weaning") quit smoking after they found what turned out to be scar tissue in my lungs. It was the kick in the ass i needed. Those pills are yours. Use the fire it lit to your advantage.
Twistableruby@reddit
Lose the weight if you have it and get off that shit as quick as you can.
Chazzam23@reddit
Amateur numbers.
Infinite-Lychee-182@reddit (OP)
Well, I did just finish up with 6 weeks of iv antibiotics if that counts, lol. Oh, and i take insulin.
Rwhite5440@reddit
10 is a good number. I already keep track of one pill caddy for my dad. I’m just too lazy to keep track of two so I end up opening 10 bottles a day. 🤣🤣
Adorable-Steak-976@reddit
I'm on the gen x don't see the doctor, not an alcoholic in Japan, soak up the sun retirement plan. Using the HSA on massages, not prescriptions.

Who saw only the top part of the pic and hoped this was a Ds9 post? Yes, i had my morning rip already thank you for wondering

Leave the junk from Pfizer and go go ganja 😛
VoodooDonKnotts@reddit
I feel like I'm the only person I know who isn't taking a bunch of pills every day. I'm starting to wonder if I'm just gonna die soon and no one caught any of the shit wrong with me.
Odd-Place-5301@reddit
You'll probably outlive all of us. Big pharma has a stranglehold on the USA. Scary part is we are the last generation that didn't start a regimen in the 5th grade. The future generations will believe it's completely normal and not the exception to be on meds.
WendyA1@reddit
Check out the Medisafe app for keeping track of your medication and the possible interactions.
romulusnr@reddit
That's a lot of antibios. Permanently?
I also see metformin (no fun) and gabapentin.
Infinite-Lychee-182@reddit (OP)
Impressive! I've been on the amoxicillin for a week, and I have another week to go. Before that, I had 6 weeks of IV antibiotics. I had a pretty severe bone infection. It took a big toe. This has been a pretty terrible summer. It's actually worse than the bone tumor (chondrosarcoma) surgery in my knee. The tumor was definitely a more painful recovery, but this foot crap never ends. I was supposed to get a third surgery on my foot last week to put in a woundvac, but cardiology has been delaying their approval. I had a stress test (chemical) last week. They found some scarring and now I have to get an aortic catheterization. From my internet sluething I think the scarring means I probably had a heart attack I didn't know about. What's really surprising is i had chest x-rays done, and apparently I fractured a rib and didn't realize, lol.
The metformin is definitely more fun than my not-pictured insulin, lol. Im taking gabapentin and muscle relaxers. They help with the phantom pain of my missing big toe. As well as my "evening meds".
romulusnr@reddit
Damn those...... double secret heart attacks. Jesus, I'm so sorry.
PrestigiousDish3547@reddit
I use mine to keep track of what day it is as much as I do to keep track of meds…
Savvy-R1S@reddit
I am fortunate at 57 not to have one of these. I changed my diet 8 years ago after my doctor literally said I didn’t plan on living long based on my blood test results and eating habits. I went all plant based and had a great turnaround on all my numbers. Some friendly advice; stop eating highly processed foods and keep moving. Even 30 minutes of walking a day can make a big difference. Hang in there. 😰
TC_Stock@reddit
Sometimes you gotta take a medication and theres really no other option but a huge chunk of these medications I see people taking could be avoided with diet and lifestyle changes.
Savvy-R1S@reddit
Very true. Diet likely play La a huge roll. The American obesity rate claims higher and higher ever year. These food companies here encourage overconsumption which supports big pharmaceutical.
Infinite-Lychee-182@reddit (OP)
Before my big toe got amputated in July I did a mile and a half daily round-trip to the supermarket, then a 45 - 60 minute dog walk. It was HELL! I'm service-connected for my knees and feet (11 knee surgeries), then I got a bone infection in my foot around January (which led to the amputation). I did the supermarket with my rollator, and dog walk with my cane. That's all on hold until my foot heals, however I did do one short dog walk. That was terribly painful.
BadGolferDallas@reddit
My god. What “pills” are you people taking? This looks insane.
DeeBee1968@reddit
You should see mine - a morning handful and a nightly handful. AM has CoQ10 capsule and 3 coconut oil capsules on top of the others, because I do NOT want a Tecfidera flush if I can help it. PM has 3 turmeric capsules for my fibromyalgia. I basically have 1p prescriptions, up from 1 back in 2018. Old age ain't for sissies, y'all!
BadGolferDallas@reddit
You should look up the Turmeric Ginger CBD gummies from Lazarus Naturals. Life changing.
DeeBee1968@reddit
TY!
Kyauphie@reddit
I've used one for a decade, though mine are mostly probiotics, multi-vitamins, and prenatal baby aspirin, folic acid, and supplements.
ToxicGenXBaddAss@reddit
Weed is such a cure all!
OpLeeftijd@reddit
I bought one for my wife as a joke. Turns out the joke was on me. She loves it and uses it religiously.
Boney-Rigatoni@reddit
You knitted you’ve reached peak old pill popper status when you spend hours trying to find the perfect pill organizer on Amazon, to include the key ring daily dose dispenser.
leicanthrope@reddit
I've got this one. I've taken enough color theory in college to be constantly irritated by it.
Mammoth-Captain1308@reddit
I have something kind of similar and crossed my fingers the colors would come in the same order they appeared in the photos, because otherwise it would bug me too.
Lost-Platypus8271@reddit
Got that one for my kiddo! She takes vitamins and melatonin. She just grabs the next day when she has a sleepover.
tchrbrian@reddit
I could’ve used that organizer for my lunch money in elementary school.
Technical-Farmer-663@reddit
I didn't know what you meant by the key ring dispenser. I looked it up and these things are great! Ordering for my lactose intolerant family + daughter with ADHD right away.
Lost-Platypus8271@reddit
I found a cheap one on deep sale and regretted it when it dumped all my meds in my bag during my last camping trip.
Aselleus@reddit
I got a weekday circular pill organizer at the dollar store that I use for travel that's pretty nice

Green_Dare_9526@reddit
Great for vitamins that interact w each other.
C-romero80@reddit
Yes and when you talk to your doc make sure they know of any vitamins and supplements you take, interactions are no joke.
azchocolatelover@reddit
That's the first question I get every time I visit my doctor. It's a good test of my memory. Although I do have this tendency to count off on my fingers.
Kalathefox@reddit
Do yourself a favor. Use your smartphones to your advantage. You may remember them, but you might forget one accidentally. Either, line them up and take a picture of all the labels, or write them down in a document/ email/ text /private discord server. Somewhere.. just so you can verify that you reported them all. You can still test your memory like you do! Say them off to of head, then double check. Forgetting any, especially now, can make life miserable later.
Lost-Platypus8271@reddit
I was taking an herbal supplement that turns out to be a blood thinner. Good thing to know in advance of surgery!
1questions@reddit
Which vitamins interact with each other?
RVAgirl_1974@reddit
One that I know of for sure is calcium and iron. If you are taking an iron supplement stay away from calcium within a couple hour window because it blocks iron absorption. On the other hand vitamin C promotes iron absorption.
TRH100@reddit
No iron together with thyroid medicine, either. Iron totally wipes out thyroid medicine. I have a six figure hospital bill I can dig out to tell you about how I learned that particular lesson.
I_Cant_Know_That@reddit
Iron also should be taken on an empty stomach, but not with any stomach medicines (Iron is my bane because I take stomach meds first thing in the morning and before bed and it's made taking iron really annoying)
Classic-Language-942@reddit
Ferrous gluconate is much easier on the tummy than ferrous... whatever the other one is. Sulfide? I rarely get tummy aches from iron after I swapped.
judgeejudger@reddit
I took a liquid called Floradix. Tastes vaguely like metallic prune juice, but no upset stomach and it absorbed really well.
ungloomy_Eeyore964@reddit
Floradix saved me. I had to take iron 3 times a day for 6 months and my numbers didn't budget. 2 weeks of floradix and I was normal. My doctor was so shocked she wrote it down because she needed iron too!
Classic-Language-942@reddit
Giggle... Floradix...
antiseesaw@reddit
my doc has me taking mine with an acid like coffee or lemonade
Human-Walk9801@reddit
I’ve been anemic since high school. I will always remember the nurse that told me to eat an orange after I’ve taken my iron.
Responsible_Row1932@reddit
Omg! Thank you. My mom is iron deficient- even had an infusion last week. I will change her pill regimen this week.
Roguefem-76@reddit

Green_Dare_9526@reddit
Quite a number and then more w Rx involved. You’ll find some info online and can also get an appointment w a pharmacist via your dr.
Green-Square-7977@reddit
Should separate Calcium from Magnesium. They compete for absorption.
1questions@reddit
Ok. I just take a multi-vitamin so I have no idea which ones they’ve thrown together.
mem0679@reddit
I never knew this! I'll make sure to separate them from now on
dfjdejulio@reddit
And also for separating the "empty stomach" versus "with foods" pills. (That's my personal bane these days.)
SizzleanQueen@reddit
I thought you were talking about weed for a minute.
anonlaw@reddit
Same. OMG. I just ordered this mfucker. It's almost a foot long. Twice as big as my old one which was like 50% bigger than the tiny one I used before that.
Kalathefox@reddit

I saw a company give away branded travel pill sorters at a conference (tech, not medical) once. They were gone in an instant. At the same time, it was painful to watch and brilliant.
CrankyDoo@reddit
I would grab one up myself, and I take zero daily medications. They are great for sorting and storing screws, nuts, and bolts in my workshop.
sky033@reddit
Had to justify to finance why I bought 4 small pill organizers. Had to explain we have 4 regions that need something to carry small o-rings and parts for in-the-field repairs.
Kalathefox@reddit
I use a spare one (aside from the actual pill holding one) for computer screws
ithinkiknowstuphph@reddit

CaptainLollygag@reddit
Saw The Circle Jerks again a few years ago. Two other punk bands opened, and it was really crowded. There was a group of us older Gen-Xers and younger Boomers hanging out together just to one side of the pit, where we could still be close to the thick of things but not as likely to get kicked in the head by a young 'un crowd surfing. After the show everyone went outside where the venue had set up a bunch of folding chairs. One of my favorite memories is noticing all the older people gently lowering themselves onto those chairs with a groan, myself included. After a punk show.
with_due_respect@reddit
Having to have good sit down after a show is better than not going to the show at all.
Roguefem-76@reddit
That's kind of brilliant, honestly. You know people will want those, and keep them for ages!
KnitYourOwnSpaceship@reddit
More importantly - they use them multiple times a day, and your brand is in front of them every time.
nobody2099@reddit

My dad's was always full because he was a vitamin junkie. Nothing crazy, just vit C and E and stuff like that. But when cancer showed up, that's when he upgraded from a 1 box a day to a 4 boxes a day. And they were overflowing. All the medications for the side effects and damages of the chemo plus his normal stuff. Part of my job was to stay on top of that pill case. I felt like a parent. "Dad, you didn't take your lunch pills. Well, I'm sorry you don't feel like eating lunch but you need to take these pills. Ya know, your tummy will feel better if you eat something when you take these pills. Well, don't cry to me if your tummy gets upset."
It took me a year after his death to even touch that oil case and dump those pills out.
JuicyApple2023@reddit
Like 15 years ago, I tried a pill box organizer. Never again. I take vitamins and minerals along with my TWO daily prescribed medications. But sometimes I don’t want to take, for example, magnesium and zinc in the morning. Anyways, I usually remember if I took my meds. It’s better for me to be free.
mheyting@reddit

michellecolsoh@reddit
Had one for years now. So much easier than opening 10 bottles a day. I have another for bedtime. It’s also easier when traveling to take the whole thing instead of all those bottles. I put it in a ziplock bag just in case it opens. I don’t understand why my husband opens all those bottles every day. I wouldn’t know if I took everything I should. Medication management 101 - take them lol

Short-Thing-9763@reddit
I definitely can relate. I have 2 pill boxes, 1 for morning that I take to work on Mondays and bring home on Friday to refill, that has that have 7 and my bedtime box sits next to the bed that contains 8 pills. The only way I can remember them all, without having to open all those bottles daily. And I will be 50 in 2 weeks. 😭

icanhazkarma17@reddit
Smoking ten time/day would have me baked into uselessness lol. But I understand folks use it medicinally, and also have a tolerance. Even a one hitter in the morning would derail me. Weed doesn't make me sleepy, just spacy and sometimes a little noided. Definitely recreational for me!
AnastasiaNo70@reddit

CaptainLollygag@reddit
Timers? I have ADHD and, as my husband says, am "always beeping and booping." I recorded myself saying common phrases and use those as the alarm sounds, like "Stop what you're doing and go to bed" and "You need to get in the shower now." You could do that for your morning med, and another to go off for when you can eat.
CA_Moon@reddit
I also have adhd so this is an excellent suggestion. Thank you so much!!!

AnastasiaNo70@reddit
Why would you question the medical use of weed?
You don’t know what he even takes it for or what his other meds are.
AppliedCarbon@reddit
My issue with medical use of weed is in the vast majority of cases it is a net negative.
Also, I've seen a lot of 40/50 year olds med lists. Most of their meds are from a shitty lifestyle they should change, not take a million pills to continue to live a sedentary lifestyle where you eat endless junk and smoke weed everyday.
AnastasiaNo70@reddit
Ah, stereotypes about people who use weed. Weed and junk food aren’t destined to always be together.
I use it medically and it’s benefitted me enormously. I’ve LOST weight since starting it.
The fact of the matter is it’s a medical herb that’s been used medically for time out of mind. Just because some people choose an unhealthy lifestyle doesn’t take away from the medical benefits of weed.
(By the way, sativa strains can be quite energizing. I got four hours of strenuous outdoor work done today thanks to a sativa. Look past the old stereotypes to the truth.)
AppliedCarbon@reddit
Ah, you are a user so you can't have a rational conversation about it.

Weed helped me go from 8 prescription meds a day to TWO.
Thanks, weed!
Kodiak01@reddit
I recently went from 3 pills in the morning and 2 at night to... 3 in the morning and 1 at night.
As of a week and a half ago I was finally cleared to come off blood thinners for good, but for at least the next year they still want me to take a baby aspirin (subclavian vein clots that have little chance of reoccurring). Other than that it's two BP meds in the morning (which I know if I can drop about 20-30lbs I may be able to come off of as well) and my evening PeePee pill for BPH.
I also have a supply of albuterol and Symbicort, but haven't needed to use either for a couple of years now.
50/M, so I guess I could be doing a lot worse.
SummerBirdsong@reddit
What's with the turds?
baconcheeseburgarian@reddit
Just fill it all with weed.
Novel_Willingness721@reddit
After transplant surgery the hospital gave me a color coded one. I mark the prescription bottle tops with the color they go into.
Intelligent-Basil600@reddit
Bro I have 4 of those I use for morning RX, nightly RX, morning Supplements and nightly Supps. Lol it gets way worse and will never get better.
MediumAd3331@reddit
Take a flintstones vitamin
greenglssgoddess@reddit
I'm an unfortunate soul that was blessed with terrible genes from both sides of my family. I don't use a pill box, but i do turn over my pill bottles on their tops as i take them. Then looking at them throughout the day i know i've taken them and don't get confused. I turn them right side up on my way to bed every night. This only works if you take your meds once a day like me. So far it has really helped me!
MercuryTattedRachael@reddit
Evening is the best dose!
Infinite-Lychee-182@reddit (OP)
Yeah, I kinda break that out in the am, lol.
Test4Echooo@reddit
On the plus side, I never dreamed this would be legal in our lifetimes😎
AllyBILM@reddit
I was gonna say, you might want a morning dose too. Can’t hurt to have some on standby either.

OK, the nugs in the mediset gave me a belly laugh that I didn’t know I needed today! Priceless!
citrussmile@reddit
Ah yes, the original medicine! Still part of my health regiment!
hapster85@reddit
I've used one for years, but mine is just am/pm. Fortunately I don't have to take any with food. I have reminder alarms on my phone, and still manage to forget them occasionally. Lol
wobbsey@reddit
i’ve used one for years bc otherwise i forget if i took my pills already. not a memorable event!
CaptainLollygag@reddit
Chronically ill and ADHD here. I've had to use a pill organizer since my 30s, and have strong preferences on their design. But I love OP including their evening med in theirs. 😆
Much-Extension-4752@reddit
1978 here... still no daily pill regiment.... not yet anyway.
Georgiaonmymindtwo@reddit
Thanks for saying that that is weed. I didn’t zoom in to look at it and thought you had put in some fried chicken.

I was thinking yesterday about how it sucks getting old because I was taking some ibuprophen before playing tennis. This puts it into perspective when that is the only time I consistently take any medication.

GansNaval@reddit
I have been contemplating getting one. Im up to five meds taken throughout the day and sometimes I forget if I have taken them in the morning.
notashroom@reddit
Not that it's a big investment, but FWIW, I developed a system for remembering if I took twice a day meds that was just which side of the label I put the cap's tab or pointer to. Left = PM, right= AM. Kept me from adding one more chore to shame myself over not completing in a timely manner.
Infinite-Lychee-182@reddit (OP)
That's what did it for me.
SoCaFroal@reddit
I've been really lucky. The only pills I take are supplements, fiber gummies, and an allergy pill.
Huskerdu4u@reddit
I take the same medication in the evening, or morning….
Timmy12er@reddit
I've mentioned this before in this sub, but my wife arranges our weekly meds. I have such blind loyalty that I don't even look at the contents, I just empty the pills into my hand and take them without examining.
If she wanted to poison me she totally could and I'd never know. I think that's what they call crazy, stupid love. ❤️
SVTContour@reddit
You should have a chat with your doctor and come up with a diet that’ll get you off some of those pills.
I was on Insulin, Metformin, Statins, and something else that escapes me. Had a chat with my endocrinologist who suggested keto and fasting. I’ve lost over 50 lbs and the only pill I take is a multivitamin. Still have 30 lbs to go.
BigDogBo66@reddit

Let's see, three pills for cholesterol, three for high BP, four for mental health, one for gout, one for allergies. Not to mention ibuprofen as needed, which is often. Yep. I'm old.
HLOFRND@reddit
There are great and I use them myself, but I always like to mention timer caps, bc they are so clutch, especially for things like antibiotics or other meds you’re on short term.
Timer caps are lids for pill bottles (they come with extra bottles in case they don’t fit yours) that tell you the last time the bottle was open. That’s it. Nothing to set or schedule, it doesn’t lock you out or anything.
It just has a little timer on it and that timer tells you how long it has been since you opened the bottle last.
They kind of rule.

walrus0115@reddit
I see you. My wife has one nearly identical and I'm on only the daily pill case. The biggest changes I've made in the past 5 years that truly produced positive results:
I keep a daily journal that includes a diet and medical log. It's a simple spreadsheet that has dropdown lists for most common items. I had a torn medial meniscus last year with surgical repair; the log with a pain scale was priceless for determining which combination of physical therapy and analgesics worked best. I went from completely immobile in November 2024 to walking 5k today for the first time since college.
To alleviate gastrointestinal issues I began taking nightly fiber, Kroger or Walmart brand Metamucil in my case. Depending on the medications from the past year with surgery and brief stints on painkillers that cause constipation, THEN a required colonoscopy, I add small amounts of Mirilax if needed. This has improved my sleep, my overall health, all my blood test numbers including lowered cholesterol and triglycerides, and sped up my morning routine obviously. I got my shit together, literally.
Hope this helps one of you. I'm 52, my wife just turned 50, and she's just starting with the hot flashes so we'll see how that goes. Ahhhh!
Lasers!

I got a box of craft organizers. 4 (removable) x 7, 12 containers. When we get low we load out a month. It works aside from the big bastards (potassium).
Tried the packaged ones but we were always getting out of sync because they'd just not contact the doc for refills. Now, local pharmacy, we're not missing any more.
People are amazed when we tell them about this - they don't understand how you can take so many pills you'd need to do this. "Beta blocker for the heart, statin for cholesterol, another because cholesterol is stubborn, one for tremors so I can type, metformin because you should too, levothyroxine because my thyroid isn't up to snuff because diabetes, melatonin because I like to sleep sometimes, and that's seven, plus add a couple more in forgetting. Dole a mixture of that out twice a day and you're going to fuck it up, guaranteed."
Infinite-Lychee-182@reddit (OP)
