Title: Debating a throttle controller upgrade for my project build – worth it or gimmick?

I’ve been working on a little side project with my car, mainly focusing on performance upgrades and drivability improvements. One of the things I’ve been looking into is installing a throttle controller to sharpen response and make the car feel more lively.
I’ve read mixed opinions – some say it’s just a “feel good” mod since it doesn’t add power, while others swear it makes the car way more fun to drive, especially in city traffic or during spirited runs.

Don’t bother, just a gadget

Complete waste of money. All they can do is lie to the computer about how far you've pressed the gas. Most are not built in a fail safe manor. Absolutely none of them can open the throttle any faster than your foot can.
If you hate the throttle mapping on your car it can help. But your money is far better spent on a tune that just fixes it the right way.

Yeah I will say I kind of liked a throttle controller in my 06 Mustang gt after I put 3.73 gears in it but it was entirely because I was having a hard time adjusting to the feel of the throttle curve. After a proper tune it felt reasonable again.

They work by tricking the ECU into thinking you stepped on the gas pedal harder than you actually did.
Or, you could just step on the gas pedal harder.

With drive by wire throttle the curves are modified with these devices. They aren’t 1:1, so it changes the actual curve and throttle percentage relationship

Downshifting as you mash the throttle will help a lot

Both can be true.
