My sentimental fav is #1, the unwilling Gabinator in IDES. Samurai Gabs (#4) in AFIN gives me goosebumps, especially when she duels for Xena's remains. I think both Renee and Lucy commented that Gabrielle never looked more staunch. Both times Gabs was at her warrior best in defense of the WP.

These are the scenes that make me cry. Partly because I have a spinal injury and the acting nails that experience and partly because of the cost of survival making me aware they really carried this through. It's impressive how much grace they have given Gab in the writing and developing into a warrior bard. She never loses that goodness but she also doesn't let herself be a Martyr.

Good points. Oy, can't imagine watching that from your perspective. As to Gabs' grace, I attribute that more to Renee's performances. It's like they threw whatever at her, expecting she'd make it work the best way -- somewhat "natural" for Gabs' development at the time.

Still one of my favourite characters of all time!

And my one grievance with the show is that they never truly gave her a moment to shine as the warrior she had become.
She had plenty of littler moments, but never ome big victory against a big character.

I would disagree about her not getting a chance to shine - she had some major moments in the last couple of seasons and those include some very powerful ones in FIN. Her showdown with Morimoto in the rain is striking and very potent.

What I loved is she was a story teller. Then she was a story teller with a stick. Then she was a story teller on a long march to nonviolence. Before she could suddenly pick up any weapon and absolutely defeat whoever with it. I love that. And all the while, she still told stories.
