Do you think child worship is warranted?

I get that parents should support their children to be the best they can be. However, I feel as though as a society, we've continually fallen at their feet when they do something very thoughtful or charitable in the community. Recently I read a story about as 12 year-old boy who is receiving reward because he's providing lunches to the homeless in his community. Yes, the behaviour is lovely and should be acknowledged, but supposing an adult did the same-would anyone really care so much?
I know teaching children to be kind and considerate is a beautiful thing, but I think with an excess of pride will come a fall. I think we've forged a culture where most people want to be the parents of the nice and kind children. Celebrating their successes is pleasant, but in my opinion this culture spotlights certain mainstream successes, and people clamor towards those like these positive acts mean everything to them.
Basically to sum up my verbose thoughts, I think children should be acknowledged for good behaviour, but child worship is overbearing, although I understand that we believe that children should have the best possible starts to life-but results will always vary, and we don't need to try so hard for them.
