It was too much of a problem for me when I was using it through an app. I actually stopped using them (this was back when there were numerous Reddit apps) to make it less convenient for me, thus reducing my time on Reddit. It worked but not very well.
App, but that’s because, even though I knew about Reddit all these years and browsed the website now and then if I was recommended subreddit comment threads via web links, I only started using Reddit actively ”for real” once I started using it in app form instead of via the web. I still use it via the web, though.
Unfortunately we’ve all been using these dumb things before their apps existed (or I have). And I’m one of those crotchety types who still uses mobile websites vs downloading apps for everything. I’m typing this on Reddit’s mobile SITE!
I consider most things to be sites first and apps second as long as there’s an online version i go to regularly. Uber in app. Reddit is a site that also has an app.
I use one "app" for websites. It is called a browser.
I neither need nor want any "app" for any given website. That's what browsers are for; so that one can access any website through them, and not need any silliness like that.
My account is 18 years old. I'm pretty sure there wasn't an official Reddit app when I created it and I didn't even have a smart phone yet. I was rocking a Motorla Razr at the time.
So yeah. Reddit is a site that is also accessible via an app.
A site. No matter what device I’m using I go to the site in the browser and use the old version (I’m not a fan of the new Reddit). To me not everything needs its own app plus I have much more control in the browser such as using content blockers to prevent trackers and things like that.
Kahnza@reddit
Site when on PC, app when on mobile.
sdouble@reddit
Reddit is a site for sure, but there’s a Reddit app so I consider that an app. I’m in IT so I absolutely differentiate properly.

I'm still annoyed that "computer program" got turned into "app".
Reddit is a site to me since I aldo access it via my laptop.

Site.
I only use it on my laptop. I am so damn sick of apps.

Reddit is fun was the only app I ever used to access the reddit site, killed by API changes

I miss that app so much.
gooch_norris_@reddit
Alien blue was alright too but now I use the official app just for simplicity’s sake. It completely sucks though

Neither, its a forum with weird formatting.
nanonoise@reddit
It was an app until they kicked off 3rd party apps. I tried Reddit app for a while but got sick of it. Now it is a website in Brave.

Sadly an App
TheWorldIsNotOkay@reddit
The only apps I use on my phone are actual mobile apps, for doing things that are best done on a mobile device.
Reddit isn't one of them. There's no way I'm going to bother typing out a post or even a comment on my phone.
JamesMattDillon@reddit
Back before the API change killed the apps, I was using.Boost. But now I just use the site. Have ublock and I don't see ads on it.

An app. I did start on browser but I'm on my phone so an app is much easier.

I guess that depends on if I am using my iPhone or my laptop to doom scroll.

However the software engineer in me knows it is actually an app that you reach through a site.
