How reliable is it to prebook Ubers/bolts/taxis?

How reliable would it be for me to pre book one of them services to go to and from London and Luton airport? Would they just get cancelled or would it be worth pre booking them anyway?

I've used cabubble.co.uk a few times which is a minicab quote aggregator. You can put in your details of the intended journey and it will give you quotes from local companies without you having to look on many different sites or call around. Coverage depends on the area.

I’ve not had Uber cancel yet after two or three attempts but the cost fluctuated to the point of being ridiculous once. I suppose anything could feasibly go wrong so I’d book earlier than you need, but I’d think a driver in the area would take it on as normal if another cancelled.

It might well depend on the time with Uber - if your journey is in the wrong direction at the wrong time then you won't have drivers jumping at the opportunity.
I remember an extremely early morning journey I had to make from St Thomas's hospital to West London. More than enough Ubers on the road, but my journey would have taken them away from more lucrative central London jobs.
I ended up walking over to Waterloo when the tube opened and got the Bakerloo up to Paddington then the Elizabeth line onwards.

It’s definitely down to the driver whether they take it and you’re right in thinking they’re looking at the destination for how much work will be there. I’d feel safer pre-booking with Uber than a local firm as it feels to me like if whoever is meant to get you breaks down having guns for hire in the area feels better than a firm having all their drivers tied up. Still not ideal though.

I’d use a local cab firm, pre-booked Ubers cost more and you aren’t actually getting a specific driver, it still just goes into the job pool for someone to grab.

Uber/Bolt is not in the same category as 'taxis'.
People will probably rank local taxi companies and (grumble) Addison Lee more reliable than Uber/Bolt.
I've not heard people in my personal life have complaints about Addison Lee for the airport (Gatwick and Stansted trips).
