Moving to Dallas- suggestions on safe and nice neighborhoods/ apartments

Hey folks, I'm new to this whole Dallas/Texas thing and could really use some local advice! I'm moving from Albuquerque, NM for a new job and will be commuting to work in Arlington. I've heard some pretty rough things about the apartment scene in Arlington, so I'm trying to figure out if there are better neighborhoods to live in that would make my commute manageable. I'm looking for a 1-bedroom, 1-bathroom apartment. What neighborhoods should I be looking at that would offer a decent commute and good living options? Any specific apartment complexes you've had a good experience with? I'm open to anything, just looking for a safe, comfortable place to live without a nightmare of a daily drive. Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions!

You’ll want to live in the actual city where there are things to do. Arlington is a suburb although it has some cool bars and stuff.
Places to look, in order of my preference: - Oak Lawn - Knox / Uptown - Bishop Arts - Victory Park

Which side of Arlington are you moving to? If the north side i suggest looking into the HEB area (Hurst Euless Bedford)

It’s east Randol mill road

Oh yeah definitely look into HEB or even North Richland hills, specifically Sovereign Hometown Apartments

Sure?

I agree. Working in north Arlington HEB area will be a very nice area to live with a nice short commute.

Omg, thanks this helps a lot . And mostly everyone I talk to is recommending the village . Do you have any review of it

The Village is in Dallas about 45-60 minutes drive away. I agree the village is fantastic for someone new looking to be active and make friends, it’s a hit spot now they have an awesome area with restaurants, pool and stuff like that but it’s gonna be hell hopping onto 75 then over to either 30 or 183 to drive to Arlington

Look into the Mansfield area. Very close commute to Arlington and it’s not really rough at all. A lot of new apartments as well offering good specials.

I heard bad things like roaches and rats in most of the Arlington apartments ,thanks for letting me know that there are new apartments . Will look into those

Mansfield is 10-15 minutes south of Arlington. Little more pricy but it is nicer and newer for the most part. I would definitely check out the area. Especially just to avoid the commute from Dallas to Arlington.

Thanks for the input , I appreciate it . Do you have any review with “the village” . Mostly everyone is telling me about it. I don’t really mind a 30 min commute tho

No I’m not too familiar with the Dallas area. I am most familiar with the Arlington and Mansfield area. I have a lot of friends who have lived in apartments in Mansfield over the last 10 years.

I’m partial to Bishop Arts - good value for your apartment, lots of things nearby to walk to, and Kidd Springs and Kessler Park have tennis courts nearby. It would be a bit of a commute, but much livelier than any neighborhood you’ll get in Arlington.
If you need help with your apartment search, feel free to reach out! I’m an apartment locator and can help you with your move for free. From finding apartments to touring on your behalf, I can be your boots on the ground ahead of your move. If you’re interested, shoot me a DM and I’ll share more.

It’s super close to airport . Do you think there will be any issues with plane sounds ? The appartment looks gorgeous tho
Ciachef213@reddit
No issues at all

You need to be way more specific with what you want. Price, Amenities, What do you consider safe? What do you care about being local? You posted the most generic thing imaginable.
I suggest getting a realtor.
