Aliexpress "ebike"

I know people said they're crap but I check mines and it's ok 1500w limited by controller and a 48v 20ah battery brakes that comes with it sucks they're cable disc brakes and the take a longer distance to stop and pedaling it also sucks i plan to add a secondary battery hence the top battery
Eastern-Ad7828@reddit
People only say they’re crap because they are coping with the fact that they spent $4k on the same piece of shit when you saved hella bank.

Bro, why do you write "Aliexpress" e-bike?
1. These bike came from different chinese factories
2. All of these bikes made in China (yep, all of them.. like Super73.. none are made in America)
3. Aliexpress is a BtoC platform where you can buy goods from Traders.. not from manufacturers..
Confident_Bean1994@reddit (OP)
Because it's not an ebike it's an e moped style they said ebike to sell them but in reality it's not an ebike and I put aliexpress ebike because that were i bought it
VariousAd5939@reddit
The rule to buying an e bike is to make sure you have hydraulic disc brakes. That is the biggest check box on the list
Confident_Bean1994@reddit (OP)
Battery should be first second is brakes
VariousAd5939@reddit
I disagree, and so does my AI apparently,
"While a good battery gives you range, reliable brakes ensure you can stop safely, which is essential for any rider, especially with the speed and weight of an e-bike."
"While a battery failure can be serious (fire, etc.), it's a less frequent occurrence than the need to brake. A faulty battery is a rare event, whereas the need to stop suddenly is a daily part of riding, whether you're delivering food for UberEats or navigating city streets. So, while a safe, certified battery is a must-have for peace of mind, the brakes are the component you rely on every second you're riding to avoid a collision."
Basically, good hydraulic disc brakes is the biggest check box on the list. Followed by battery
Actually, I'd say the motor is the first check box. Then brakes. Then battery. When shopping for an e bike everyone is looking at motor power first (because let's be honest, no one wastes their time looking at the 500w bikes), then you want to make sure it has good brakes (hydraulic disc, the brand usually doesn't matter), then you look into the battery specifications, that's where the final decision is made

I’d say brakes, battery, then motor. Brakes especially because the need to stop is a daily part of riding, battery you want certified for peace of mind when riding or charging the bike that it won’t catch on fire and possibly light you, your house/shed/garage or wherever you store it on fire, and then motor because while power can be important and many people want high power it’s still tertiary when compared to brakes/batteries on an ebike and the safety that having both good brings.
Besides, you wouldn’t want a really powerful motor if you don’t already have a powerful battery and brakes.
Confident_Bean1994@reddit (OP)
Yeah im upgrading the brakes and then checking the battery bms and cells cause something does add up
Novel_Landscape_8878@reddit
Nice, good idea and make sure that check on the battery is thorough to make sure the cells and bms are actually proper and in good health
DevLegion@reddit
Yep, I have to agree with this. Going is super important but being able to stop quickly is way more important!
I converted my recumbent trike to electric and the stopping distance, especially at speed is bloody awful! I mean, to the point of not being able to stop on a couple places on local bike paths where it's a really steep downhill section.
The regular disk brakes are just not upto the job and I get more braking power from the regen braking than I do for the pads.
I plan on upgrading from wired to hydraulic just as soon as I can figure out how to rig a switch for the regen braking. The current brake levers have them built in.

The QC on the battery is the scariest part on these cheap ebikes.

I remember seeing this on AliExpress when the price was offering 48v 60ah batteries for like $750.
Old_Strength6881@reddit
It’s either not 60ah or you have a ticking time bomb on your hands
Confident_Bean1994@reddit (OP)
This cost me 700 the dual 60ah cost 900
MarsRT@reddit
yeah the 60ah one was $750 like 3-4 weeks ago
Confident_Bean1994@reddit (OP)
Man I missed it then I know the 1000w 48v 20ah is $500
foghillgal@reddit
ITS the power charging circuitry thats usually the issue . Sane thing with buying a cheap charger vs an apple charger . The second one is filled with electronics and power circuits to make sure you don’t screw the battery. The device itself, iPhone, Samsung also has power regulation before sending anything to the battery
Also , there is the fact that you modify a bike to extract 2-3 time more power from the battery than irs specked at, overheating the battery , screwing the anodes and cathodes and potentially creating arcing inside the packs . After this happens the battery starts to swell putting physical stress on the battery itself , possibly rupturing it. When you charge it with your crap power controller it catches fire .
Confident_Bean1994@reddit (OP)
Yes im using a 3a metal charger not the one they provided and I just going to limit swap the bms to 30a 40a surge
LethalGamer2121@reddit
Yeah, I would rather drop $800 for a grin battery tbh
Laserdollarz@reddit
It's the brakes, for me, personally.

It is but I have plans to build a other one so I might ditch it and keep the one I plan to build

WE LOVE E-WASTE
Confident_Bean1994@reddit (OP)
Not really I just going to swap the bms out if the cells are good
Complex-Dragonfly-33@reddit
careful as these tend to start breaking in the most inconvient places my cousin has one similar to you used it for about 6 months and had to replace the breaks, lights, and some of the bolts that basically broke day 3 of riding it
RollinHellfire@reddit
I dont blame you for trying a cheap bike... but I blame you for not respecting us with decent punctuation.

Cool bike. What’s the range like? How many miles a week do you ride? Commuter, or just for fun?
Confident_Bean1994@reddit (OP)
My other folding bicycle is can got 18 miles round trip and still have battery left but I also throttle alot so I only have 2 to 3 battery bars left but I run 2 In parallel
romz81481@reddit
I get 45 miles on my mokwheels fat tire bike
TEGHD1@reddit
I bought mine from AliExpress too
Laserdollarz@reddit
Slap some mt200 brakes on. It'll take an hour. Stopping is important.
goshdarnpeesea@reddit
How much was it?
Confident_Bean1994@reddit (OP)
700 including shipping it ship from California i bought it on the local shipping

How it must feel to ride the Dee-Power
ParfaitTraditional23@reddit
I'm not gonna lie that bike seat looks massively uncomfortable to sit on after a while
Confident_Bean1994@reddit (OP)
It does for pedaling but for riding it's not bad did I mention it does 30mph
insert-haha-funny@reddit
Damn mans got moped
ParfaitTraditional23@reddit
does it have a limiter like most bikes like it? If not that's kinda risky at least where I live, they'll instantly impound it
Confident_Bean1994@reddit (OP)
Yes a white wire that you unplugged to unlimit it
Conscious-Ad175@reddit
Please check all welds. That diagonal don’t look too safe.
Confident_Bean1994@reddit (OP)
🤣 apparently it's a add on it just bolts up to be a passenger seat
