There should be public toilets that take before and after pictures of the bathroom and ban people that trash them.

I’m not saying put cameras IN the bathroom.
I’m saying there should be a camera pointing at the door.
Use an ID or CC to open it.
Do your business.
Clean up after yourself if need be.
And leave.
When you leave the door opens all the way and the camera looks at the state you left it in.
If you trashed it, pissed all over the place, shit on the floor, or painted a swastika on the wall: fine and permanent ban.
If it’s a pay toilet, then they should offer discounts for people to clean up the toilet before using it.
All with AI.

It still surprises me that schools will close down all but 1 bathroom and only let 3 people in the whole school go at a time instead of looking through and smelling the bathroom after each person is done to figure out who the ones causing issues actually are. A few detentions should fix them up. And if they're destroying the bathrooms, they probably won't go to detention, but they probably do skip classes as well. Put them in detention during the classes they're skipping until they learn how to be better.

You trust AI to open and close public restroom stall doors at its own discretion?
Available-Drama-276@reddit (OP)
Unlock? Sure.
Then when you leave it uncovers a camera.
ThrowAwayOkK-_-@reddit
Until it's hacked to uncover the camera on demand of the hacker
Rashaen@reddit
Why would this require AI? Door opens click, door opens again click.

I never thought I would one day champion the right of people to piss all over the toilet roll in public rest rooms, but here I am, part of the resistance to big brother's schemes to put cameras where I'm trying to shit peacefully.
When people talk about privacy, and "having nothing to hide", the go-to rebuttal I like is, "I don't close the door when I shit because I have nothing to hide. Privacy is a basic right, and even a common courtesy." and you're trying to take that away from us.
Walking in on a clean roll of TP will no longer mean anything. My faith in humanity will forever be in the air; is it clean in here because people are generally good (or at least okay)? Or is it clean in here because of high-level oppressive systems forcing people to conform?
I never thought I could foresee a day when I might miss encountering stalls destroyed by projectile diarrhea. But some things... some things are worse.

Pay toilet? You’re European aren’t you.
Unhappy_War7309@reddit
Ah yes let's further normalize the surveillance state we live in and use AI to collect information on people
GarageIndependent114@reddit
Why do you think people are using public toilets, exactly?
havron@reddit
Something like this was actually implemented where I work. Someone kept trashing the bathroom, so they installed a camera outside. The door opening thing isn't part of it—it's simply a static camera. Frankly, I'm not even sure if it's functional. But apparently it was enough to stop the Bathroom Bandit from doing his misdeeds.
Subarctic_Monkey@reddit
Why the fuck can't people just use the toilet and go about their day?
havron@reddit
I genuinely wish I knew.
jefflovesyou@reddit
There are cameras in the toilets at my work I'm going to suggest they reposition them so they point down instead of up
IonTheBall2@reddit
During?
HewSpam@reddit
If I have to scan my ID to piss I’m pissing on the fucking building
Mountain_Economist_8@reddit
I mean most places just don’t let you use their toilet at all, now. I like OPs idea for small businesses that want to help out the community but don’t want to deal with the splatterers
hawkwings@reddit
If you stop crappy people from using bathrooms, you'll end up with shitty sidewalks.
caleblbaker@reddit
Most things about this don't need AI. You're allowed to use AI for the things it makes sense for without using it for everything.
Associating ID with badges as people scan them to use the bathroom? Better with traditional non-AI software
Opening the door to take a picture and then moving the camera in and taking a picture? Also better with traditional software.
Looking at the picture and determining whether the bathroom had been trashed? Absolutely use AI for that. AI would be great at that.
Logging the ID's, timestamps, and after photos of bathroom visits? Traditional software.
Emailing the relevant log record ID to a human who is in charge of fine determination whenever the AI determines that the bathroom has been trashed? Traditional software.
Online portal to allow an authenticated employee to review logs? Traditional software.
Double checking the AI and making final fine determinations? Human.
You've described a fairly complex system where only a single component would benefit from AI and then said that it would all be done with AI.
Recycled_Decade@reddit
I got a burrito the other night. Had to take a piss. Asked for the bathroom. Walked through the kitchen. Took a piss. Was a responsible adult. And didn't need AI to check up on me. But yeah. I pledge my undying fealty to skynet. You want a nanny state? Wtf has happened to this world.
Red-Droid-Blue-Droid@reddit
I like AI tools, but I don't trust this at all.
Heavy-Locksmith-3767@reddit
If you paint a swastika you get locked in permanently.
ExampleMysterious870@reddit
Flushing paper towels down a public toilet should just get you banned from using public facilities for the rest of your life. We need a social credit system just for people who do this.
Careless_Lunch6025@reddit
I don’t want to scam my ID every time I go into a public bathroom! Plus, you can’t see a lot of most bathrooms from outside the door. We would have to start designing restrooms just to accommodate this pointless idea.
kenmlin@reddit
Someone will hack the camera so everyone can see you doing your business. Live.
Available-Drama-276@reddit (OP)
Reading is hard, huh?
Far-Fill-4717@reddit
It says at the door, right?
cabridges@reddit
No. In a world where trans people are being hounded out of public view and prevented from using bathrooms appropriate to their identities, this would be weaponized immediately.
kenmlin@reddit
A better idea is to charge the cc first and no refund if you get it dirty. This will provide incentive to respect the throne.
JackTerron@reddit
Come on people, this sub isn't called reasonable ideas.

You now have been poo framed! You can no longer use bathroom because your ex used your poop to frame you
jakelewisreal@reddit
Yeah.. nah
