Help. What makes a MK16 URGI upper better than this? Genuinely curious.

Obviously not taking into account that MK16s uppers are usually sold complete.

I am talking pound for pound.

If i can add a Surefire 4 prong, geisselle airborne charging handle with my bootleg bcg while already having a lower with different Geissele buffers. What is the benefit of waiting on a MK16 deal vs buying this?

PA currently has the URGI uppers at $1199. The URGI has a 4 Prong (~$150), REBCG ($350-400) Airborne CH ($75-10) and the Buffer & Buffer Spring ($70) so on the low end to end up identical you’re looking at about $1340 to complete this upper (total cost). If you already have stuff or want to throw a cheap microbest in it and just buying it for the handguard, barrel, upper and gas system, it’s a good base.

No reason to get URGI over this unless you want clone or REALLY want black/tan + surefire.

This barrel profile is much better. It's a medium taper.

Super duty also has anti rotation tab built into the top rail instead of having extra bits on the side of the receiver. It would also be compatible with geissele's asymmetrical cam pin if you ever get your hands on a super duty BCG (but mil-spec works, too).

IMO the urgi is worse. The barrel profile is worse but “correct” for urgi meanwhile it’s still not the correct barrel manufacturer upper manufacturer for the clone. There’s no reason to buy urgi other than to clone. I say this as a lover of urgi, but like, get the sd.

I toiled with this for the week and ended up getting a Super Duty. I felt like the main draw for the Urgi was the buffer and 4 prong. Then i thought more and realized i don’t need the 4 prong. I’d be replacing to mount something else. The buffer isn’t all that much on sale. And a tabbed rail and receiver is better.

That really depends on what can you want. Unfortunately I have no experience with those as I live in a ban state. A lot of people here really like downvent bcgs such as KAK’s on suppressed builds

I can’t speak on how it shoots suppressed, but my biggest takeaways are how soft it shoots and how well balanced the weight feels due to their barrel profile

If the projections from NICS checks are accurate, firearms as whole have been going down in sales. I think the AR15 platoform is one of the ones getting hit the worst. We lost both Delton and Anderson this year and that's just the beginning.

Keep in mind the ATF changed the “laws” in march for a few states that let people bypass a NICS check with a concealed carry permit.

People have claimed the big chain stores in Michigan still run NICS check for those with CPL even though they are no longer required to do so. I suspect their lawyers told them to continue doing it. Some of the locally owned LGS do not run NICS if one has a Michigan CPL.
