500k miles governord at 65mph I never realized until now how many dumbfucks cruise 66mph in the middle lane. Really?

Finally got my speed restriction turned off. Now this bullshit.
Ok_Bug_6470@reddit
It’s 1 mph sure but it’s annoying for you to let the faster truck around when there’s space. You can say whatever but it is. Unless you’re 5-7 mph faster it takes some time and you’re forgetting if there’s any kind of terrain. It makes a difference making it up hills if you’re heavy how you drive them. It’s a fuel issue at that point. But hey do you
GlomBastic@reddit (OP)
My governor got deleted. I'm talking about trucks cruising 60 in the middle lane. I'm a patient driver. But these situations cause wreckless drivers to take the least safe option. Putting you in danger along with everyone you holding up behind you.
karrimycele@reddit
I hate these 66 mph trucks. They just gotta pass you at 1 mph. Man, if a truck in front of me is going 64, I just ride along. Fucking morons.
GlomBastic@reddit (OP)
If you time it right, I could get around. Loaded downhill, I don't get a safety alert until 70+ for ten seconds. Then place it in cruise. I've only gotten one phone call, that was on my third day.
karrimycele@reddit
Why bother? It’s one mile per hour ffs.
IdrinkSalsa@reddit
Howabout we all just agree to slow down and space out so we stop losing 40k people a year to traffic accidents. A change in mindset needs to happen across the board. You aren't entitled to drive your vehicle max speed all the time.
I'm governed and my biggest gripe is ungoverned trucks blazing up on a backed up lane like it's going to change anything. It's not that serious just cruise for a while.....
JayJunGz@reddit
Tbh is mostly people that get paid per mile or by the load that be rushing so they don’t get screamed at by their daddy dispatcher.
edsavage404@reddit
If its in the city im not moving to no right lane just some asshat can cruise on by doing 70+
Negative334@reddit
Same here, constantly slowing down or getting over for merging on ramp traffic is annoying as hell
Jondiesel78@reddit
Why are you slowing down for merging traffic? You should maintain your speed. It is their job to merge
Exact-Leadership-521@reddit
Cause I don't drive a company truck? I know it's the merging traffic's job to merge but it's my job not to come in contact with anything on the roads no matter what. I'll use the airhorn probably more then the next guy and run bad mergers out on the shoulders but I'm not risking a collision with the truck part of my vehicle
Negative334@reddit
Precisely, and this is coming from a company driver. Slowly down a tad to let someone in doesn't hurt anybody.
Exact-Leadership-521@reddit
Theres a difference between slowing down to let someone in and someone that's on the shoulder and wants to cut me off. I can't slow down while there's a car beside me steering into me, I need to get the trailer beside them as fast as possible
Negative334@reddit
How long have you had your license? I'm pretty sure you have been out here long enough to know slowing down sometimes is mandatory, yes 4 wheelers should know how to merge but not everybody has common sense these days
Jondiesel78@reddit
I've only had my CDL for 29 years.
firstblush73@reddit
I will show this to my company when they deem it a "preventable" accident. That should exonerate me! 😅
Nice-position-6969@reddit
Most are taught that it is the safest lane to be in because you have an "out" in both directions. It's really not true because 9/10 you got someone on both sides. The right lane for slower trucks is better because you always have the shoulder as opposed to a minivan with 3 people in it
WIbigdog@reddit
It's not about having an out, I don't know where you got that from. The actual point is to reduce the need for lane changes to a minimum. In the middle lane you never need to move over for merging traffic or vehicles stopped on the shoulder. It's the lane of least resistance. That's why it's taught, not to have an "out".
GlomBastic@reddit (OP)
It's doctrine in every mega to live in the right lane. Dude is full of shit
Nice-position-6969@reddit
I've never heard any mega tell their drivers to stay in the right. They always tell them to run the middle lane for the same reason I mentioned in another comment.
J3wb0cc4@reddit
Being taught to have an “out” is UPS centered training. I should know, I use to work for them.
TheJayRodTodd@reddit
Smith system. We use it in LTL
gENTleman92@reddit
We teach the Smith system to teenagers in driver's ed. Having an out is definitely a thing.
Swimming-Performer57@reddit
you can't access the shoulder if there is a an entry ramp filled with merging vehicles that give no f about yielding
Nice-position-6969@reddit
Exactly, the vehicle on the highway has to do nothing. The merging traffic has to speed up or slow down. It's not for the person on the highway to make room for them. Stay in that middle lane and let vehicles go around you on both sides. I've seen trucks pulled over for hindering the flow of traffic in Texas and Arizona. When the speed is 70mph+ and you can't keep up with the flow and cause traffic to build behind you they can and will get you. Doesn't matter that your truck is governed at a slower speed. They will tell you that you should know that in every state slower vehicles are supposed to keep right.
Getz3m@reddit
The issue here is that you rely on merging traffic to know they don’t have right and to slow down or speed up. Too high a percentage don’t merge correctly. Also the amount of people flicking me off for not “letting them in”. Too damn high!! Fuck logic and the right lane anywhere there’s a lot of traffic, completely unsafe in my opinion
RoscoMD@reddit
Sounds like you could use a little thicker skin and not worry about how many fingers they give you. If you’re in the right lane and they want to occupy your space- tough shit. They can get in front or behind you. Occasionally you get one that’ll pace you on the shoulder, but they give up eventually. It’s not the end of the world if you piss off the motoring public. They’ll call in on you, and your response will be “it’s their job to merge into traffic, and there was no safe lane change to allow them the courtesy of moving over.” No law broken. No lost job. Just do you and don’t worry about them.
Getz3m@reddit
I rather avoid in city merging is all. If I didn’t have thick skin I wouldn’t be in this industry.
meroisstevie@reddit
Kentucky too
Resident-Sherbert-89@reddit
i'm in the middle lane for me, my bubble, my peace of mind, not dealing with every merging car on the ramps, and i honestly don't give a shit how you feel about it. i trust absolutely no one on the road except myself and i'm the only person i can control. i have been driving for almost 20 years in the NE and have never even had a close call.
CalmAnxitey87@reddit
On the flip side of this I do 55 in the middle lane when the speed limit is 55 and have O/O constantly blowing past me in the right lane going 75
firstblush73@reddit
I run the middle lane, BUT! I constantly check my mirrors for incoming faster trucks and move over for them asap, its the courteous thing to do.
Those 4 wheelers can be pissed snd swerve around me all day long, but I pay taxes and its my fucking road too, so imma sit here. Will not move right for them. 🤷♀️
yak_danielz@reddit
this is the way. thank you🫡
Abucfan21@reddit
Yep.
kashkoi_wild@reddit
Around cities - only middle. And I will stay in the middle till I see people learning how to use ramps properly. To tired of idiots who go into interstate at 50mph and speeding up slower then freight train. And don't let me start to write about idiots who crossing 2 lanes from left to exit the interstate in last 400 feet right in front of my truck. Sry but I will rather piss some super trucker behind me, then what Idiocracy might happen in the right lane
jennoford@reddit
FACTS. Especially that from left to right just to cut off to get off.
Saaaaaaaammmmmmmm@reddit
Hey that’s me!
jennoford@reddit
There’s really no other option lately. Slow lane morons doing 45 and in ramp 25 and can’t merge. Or fast lane 90 or 100. I get further faster cruising the middle.
Pastorfuzz69@reddit
Because most Mega Carriers train the rookies to drive in that lane to stay away from the on ramps. Less chance of distraction and accidents.
ThrowAndHit@reddit
I’m not a trucker but spend around 80k miles/year on the road. I noticed the center lane camping thing quite awhile ago. I really hate to pass on the right, but idiots clog up left lane, and often leave no choice. I hug the right side paint, and get by as fast as possible, but still hate doing it.
GlomBastic@reddit (OP)
Saying. We got full speed tractor on the left running three deep and the hot rod charger blowing the right door off.
charliecatman@reddit
I’m that Mustang.
meroisstevie@reddit
I purposely slow down so they have to move.
Ok_Judgment3871@reddit
He just said dumbfucks, not truckers.

"Be the stone in the stream." - CR England
firemarshalbill316@reddit
I stay in the middle lane until I feel it is safer for me to move over to the right lane and cruise unimpeded. Fuck off to everyone who gets upset, there is a left lane if there is a middle lane. Use it.
spyder7723@reddit
Trucks are restricted from the left lane in most cities.
firemarshalbill316@reddit
Yep. So slow down And flow with traffic.
Ok_Judgment3871@reddit
Whats more annoying is the no trucks left lane bs when generally im driving faster than 90% of the cars in traffic . Other 10% are those doing 10 over
TellTaleTimeLord@reddit
Middle lane is the path of least resistance. It is quite literally the cruising lane
GlomBastic@reddit (OP)
Sure maybe in the city. Otherwise it's causing road rage and three wide trailer situations.
TellTaleTimeLord@reddit
Just because you're speeding doesn't mean everyone else is driving wrong
spyder7723@reddit
The issue is those going well under the speed limit, not those doing the speed limit.
Leaf-Stars@reddit
Their companies train them that way. I find myself passing quite a few in the right lane, flipping every one of them off.
viertes@reddit
After years of passing politely, I too have begun this ritual.
Fuck you JB hunt! Fuck you Amazon! And fuck you super ego!
Walmart keep doing your thing. You know you're slow and you're in the right lane. Much respect
Playful-Excuse-272@reddit
If society was filled with considerate people I would ride the right lane in the city but since people are dicks, I shall be one as well.
“This rig has his blinker on. Maybe he needs to get over so he can let those caravans of cars merge. Fuck him, warp speed!!!”
Ich_mag_Kartoffeln@reddit
Nonono driver! You've got it wrong!
Not warp speed! You're supposed to Match speeds.
Playful-Excuse-272@reddit
😂😂. Touché
mariamad89@reddit
Try 50 while ur going full speed and then they decide to hit their brakes just to go into the FASTER laneeee… I swear the sense ain’t sensing 😭🤣
Extra_Significance81@reddit
I do most of my passing in the right lane these days.
ShoddySpace5680@reddit
I do it at 60
TwoToadsKick@reddit
That's why I just do 63 in the right lane. Everyone goes around me, and usually nobody is within 4 seconds in front of me
CaptainPrestigious74@reddit
Ah yes the ole 2nd lane least resistance trick.
KoiwazuraiAi@reddit
I'll get out of the middle lane when we're outside of city limits or when the collective consciousness of all 4 wheelers suddenly makes them all merging savants.
Getz3m@reddit
I definitely cruise middle lane but only within any city limit. Typically the speed limit is 65 or 55 there as well. But it’s too much, way too much of a hassle to constantly be bothered with the damn merging lane. Hopefully one day I too will be unrestricted and bothered by governed middle laners
GlomBastic@reddit (OP)
I'm talking about rural nowhere stretch of i75. Now I have flatbeds and cattle haulers blowing my left door off. They gonna kill someone.
Negative334@reddit
Just flash them to get over, you got to remember alot of these drivers be zoned out
Suitable_Page4326@reddit
Sounds like Georgia.
Thats everyday there.
Psilologist@reddit
Yep, I'll run the middle lane through the city and not think about moving over once I'm out of the city till some guy comes past me at 75 in the right lane. Then I realize "well shit, forgot to move over"
masher005@reddit
Aren’t you supposed to be a professional? Lmfao
GlomBastic@reddit (OP)
Understandable. But 10 miles on i75 with no exits or anything. Now you have a mad Max road rage caravan behind you
TripleTrucker@reddit
Plenty at 62-63. They’re clueless
Wreckage365@reddit
You have middle lanes? I feel so provincial.
