Guess what is finally streaming!

Apparently some of the music has changed because of music rights issues, but I’m interested to see this again. I definitely was a little young to fully understand it.
Anyone else?

"Reflections of...the way life used to beeeee!" That was the song that let me know it was bedtime and I better get my ass in bed 😅
Blackbird136@reddit
My “bedtime” song was the Cheers theme!
Love your username. 🥰
HaliBUTTsteak@reddit
In addition to this, when the MASH theme song came on in during mid day, I knew it was time to go out and play.
ASingleThreadofGold@reddit
Classic!
anathene@reddit
Same. We were never allowed to stay up and watch
Boring_Pace5158@reddit
I never watched it because when it came on, it was time for bed. But I remember the theme song, before I knew it was a Diana Ross song
AerwynFlynn@reddit (OP)
Yeah I was supposed to be going to bed but…surprisingly every time it was on I had the smallest bladder on the planet lol. Couldn’t go more than 5 minutes without needing to pee 😂
TheConsoleGeek@reddit
I loved Tour of Duty but could never really get into China Beach.
_Face@reddit
Tour of Duty was in our house. Painted Black still gets me fired up.
YinzerNinja@reddit
I loved both so much. 🍻🤘
cronokun@reddit
Oh man I haven’t thought of this show in forever! I used to watch it all the time.
Rooooben@reddit
Oh shit my brother was an extra in this show. He said he played a lot of soldiers lying in hospitals
aerodeck@reddit
This is securely Gen X content
naamingebruik@reddit
Never heard of this. What was it about
Comfortable-Pea-1312@reddit
Marge Helgenberger holds her own!
Intelligent_Series_4@reddit
The issue over music rights is the same reason WKRP in Cincinnati isn’t available for streaming.
CaptObvious80@reddit
Don't know why, but LT Murphy was my first love. Maybe it was cause she was an Army nurse, and her compassion and care of wounded soldiers was foreshadowing my own future. Or cause I needed to k ow there was someone like her when I joined.
blondeinabubble@reddit
whoaaaa saw this and my brain just sang, “through the mirror of my mindddd….” 🎵
CaptObvious80@reddit
Time aftwr time..... 🎶🎵
jessie_boomboom@reddit
Right!!!!!
Tiny-Reading5982@reddit
I loved the theme song choice
nancy_drew_98@reddit
HAHA same thing!
YinzerNinja@reddit
Holy shit. What service?? I am a 44yo male who watched as a little kid and LOVE Dana Delaney to this day! 👌
AerwynFlynn@reddit (OP)
It’s on Roku’s new service Howdy. I guess I’m gonna be signing up for a new service for a little while lol.
This is the first time they’ve actually streamed it so it’s a Big Deal.
CaptObvious80@reddit
Yeah those music rights were a pain to figure out.
TheEschatonSucks@reddit
CelticSith@reddit
Dill with it
Lol
Reasonable-Wave8093@reddit
Omg i just got Howdy! Its exactly my speed and price lol! I’ve always been roku, never prime or slapple
fixedgear7013@reddit
Checks out, I’m also a 44 year old male and used to watch this with my mom.
Formal-Cut-4923@reddit
We all loved her in this.
CaptObvious80@reddit
LT Murphy was my first love.....
TheNaughtyDragon@reddit
Loved me some Tour Of Duty and China Beach. I hate when the music situation gets messed up due to rights, that was a huge part of it.
BluePosey@reddit
Wow, I may have to sign up for Howdy just to watch this. The opening credits are top 5 ever for me. I hope the song is still the same.
Otik218@reddit
I remember that chick 👍!
PetMonsterGuy@reddit
Wow, I haven’t thought of this since the last time I saw an ad for it while it was still running. Crazy!
ahopskipandaheart@reddit
I hadn't heard of it until this Jenny Nicholson video: https://youtu.be/p4AdFD3E2ok
Skip to 28:15 for explanation.
Intelligent_Pass2540@reddit
I was hoping someone else would remember the TVD Jenny Nicholson China Beach connection!
ahopskipandaheart@reddit
I mentioned China Beach is available to stream to my husband, and he also remembered. We had it on while organizing. lol
LeftOn4ya@reddit
The show that brought women to the front lines
Hilsam_Adent@reddit
The only Soap Opera I could stomach as a kid. Hated Dallas, Falcon Crest, L.A. Law, the actual daytime crap, 90210, Melrose Place, et.al. but this one was actually good, with the insanely excellent soundtrack, to boot.
Reasonable-Wave8093@reddit
and Dark Shadows!!!!
Hilsam_Adent@reddit
My stepmother adored that show. I could tolerate it better than most, but it still wasn't my "cuppa".
Reasonable-Wave8093@reddit
check out the 2 movies (71) or the 91 revival series
anOvenofWitches@reddit
brakeb@reddit
If they have the original music, that must have cost a bit to make happen.. seen a lot of older series that couldn't clear the music rights, and suffered for it
AerwynFlynn@reddit (OP)
I read that it’s a mixed bag. Some they could get the rights too and some they couldn’t
fleetiebelle@reddit
Did they figure out the music rights issue or just replace the soundtrack with public domain songs?
Toast2042@reddit
I find it ridiculous that song rights are separate from the tv shows they accompany. If it was broadcast/produced with it it should be considered the same piece of art.
AerwynFlynn@reddit (OP)
So some songs they got the rights to, and some they didn’t. I guess they replaced those songs, but I’m not sure with what.
ScaredOfTrolls32@reddit
Loved her in desperate housewives
XFrankXGrimesX@reddit
This horny boy rented "Exit to Eden" under the assumption "it has Dana Delany in black leather, how bad could the rest of this be?" Well, real fuckin' bad. Dan Ackroyd tanked his career in the 90s with breathtaking gusto.
mouse6502@reddit
For us gays it also has Paul Mercurio from Strictly Ballroom, hubba hubba. That movie flips so hard and constantly between lowbrow comedy hijinks and softcore Skinemax porno that I get whiplash.
Affectionate_Way_805@reddit
Well I mean, it also has Rosie O'Donnell in black leather so yeah, not the best choice for a horny kid.
Lilith_Christine@reddit
Tour of duty anyone?
Blackbird136@reddit
Oh gosh. I used to watch this with my dad but was also too young to really follow.
Is the service free?
AerwynFlynn@reddit (OP)
No, but it looks like it’s $2.99 a month so not bad in terms of streaming
Crans10@reddit
I rewatched this show last year. It was fun. It was hard to find. I am glad it is back up on streaming.
sthef2020@reddit
