I’m not sure if there were other agencies that did, but IN state police were the only ones that famously carried these. The marking sorta makes it an interesting collector piece IMO.
wormraper@reddit
as said below, Penn state police used them, as does the Connecticut state police
EightySixInfo@reddit
CSP used the P220, not the P227.
wormraper@reddit
are you sure? my sources state they switched from the P220 to the P227 a decade ago.
EightySixInfo@reddit
Yeah, they had the 220s. I remember many years of seeing the silver single-stack magazines in their triple magazine pouches.
I’m surprised how many agencies used the P220 well into the 2010s. It’s a good gun, but a bit dated. The first police department I worked for issued them for 20+ years and the older guys still carried them when I started, and I believe either Knoxville or Chattanooga in TN still issue them to this day.
wormraper@reddit
yeah, the P220 was just a police staple along with the P228/P229 for DECADES. it's one of those "if it's not broke, don't fix it" type of guns. I'm not complaining. it could setup with a 10 round mag and was an absolute beast in terms of reliability.
IMO the P229 and the P220 are the two best guns sig ever made (the P226 being an honorable mention)
EightySixInfo@reddit
I think the P226 and P228 are my all-time favorites.
Dogsport1@reddit
Interesting, I shouldn’t have said “only” it seems.
iGottadropaduce@reddit
Pennsylvania state police did too
FearsomeCubedWarrior@reddit
Hmmm, looks like SRT too...
Beyer160@reddit
The one I got from Acme did have the SRT.
Ok_Gap708@reddit
Any idea around what year these were manufactured? So they're brand new correct?
AcmeSportsInc@reddit (OP)
Manufactured in 2024. Armory kept, never issued.
wormraper@reddit
quick dumb question. are the 3 mags guaranteed to be NOS as well? or are we at the mercy of "digging hand into the pile of mags that came with the used ones and pulling out whatever" when ordering? (not sure if the new mags were kept specifically with the new guns, or whether the used mags were mixed in the lot and it's luck of the draw)
Rare_Blackberry252@reddit
The mags were kept in the box. They all come with 3 mags. That's how mine was and I bought one when they first came available.
LupusDeiAngelica@reddit
They stopped manufacturing them in 2019. ISP sold their 227s in 2024 when they replaced them with the Walther PDP. They replaced them as SIG stopped manufacturing parts in 2019 as well.
wormraper@reddit
Sig has been manufacturing the P227 for the ISP up through this last year. Even though they commericially discontinued it, they've continued production for contracts, just like they do for the old P228
Ok-Turnip8161@reddit
Pennsylvania went to the Walther PDP. Indiana current issue pistol is the P227. They are transitioning to another Sig soon though.
AcmeSportsInc@reddit (OP)
Last ones made by Sig
Slim_Thicc_Wiccan@reddit
That's really freaking cool.
HighwaySixtyOne@reddit
Why this, and not a P220?
wormraper@reddit
10 rounds and 14 rounds vs. 7, 8, 10 rounds. more bigger, more better. basically a P220 with a double stack mag (the slide is 100% P220 parts with a P227 on the side)
xTehSpoderManx@reddit
Everytime I want to buy one of these I remind myself that they’re 10rds and I lose interest.
redacted_robot@reddit
They have 14rd mags too. They just ftf often apparently.
wormraper@reddit
that is fixed by a simple spring change. Sig was just stupid and had mec-gar use the same spring as the 10 round mag and they were causing ftf's because the recoil spring (which is actually a bit OP for the .45 cartridge.. it's really a +P round poundage) was over running the mag springs.
redacted_robot@reddit
So there's aftermarket 14 round springs you have to get, or all the 14rd mags on the market are now gtg?
wormraper@reddit
Wolff Para Ordnance springs fixed the issue.
Sig never updated the springs to my KNOWLEDGE. reports have been that the 14 round mags had a minor change (using the P320 floor plate) and around that time the issues seemed to clear up, but again. no confirmation. But swapping the springs for the wolff springs 100% fixes it.
redacted_robot@reddit
Does it just perpetually say 125 in stock, or does it update as sold?
wormraper@reddit
no. it goes down. it's just not a lot of people are buying them even at $799.
I've been keeping an eye on these for a price drop for the last week or so. a few days ago they had gotten down to 5. then it bumped up to 22. then 76, then 129 as of yesterday (I'm assuming they got in a couple large batches).
LupusDeiAngelica@reddit
They'd sell out in a hurry at $650.
wormraper@reddit
for sure. even at $699 I think they'd fly out the door. Not being a dick to Acme, but I always felt the $899 was an absurd price for a NOS LEO trade in. $799 it's reasonable, $699 is IMO the sweet spot for "holy shit, we'll sell out in a day" sale price
LupusDeiAngelica@reddit
Agreed.
redacted_robot@reddit
Wonder why Indiana didn't use them. It's not like they have the 14round mags...
wormraper@reddit
PD's always keep a bunch in reserve for new officers, as well as replacing damaged guns for other officers. ISP had THOUSANDS of these. Acme just got ahold of their "reserve stock" for these
Ordinary-Machine1451@reddit
If you want to save a few bucks, they still have two used ones along with two used lefties (mag release) for $650 each (only 2 mags) all marked with ISP. If you want unmarked, "very good condition" used elsewhere for same $650.
SrRoundedbyFools@reddit
It’s $30 shipping.
Ordinary-Machine1451@reddit
Yes, that's the one I linked as "elsewhere".
Entire_Routine_3621@reddit
