How is it possible that the 40th anniversary is coming up, yet we are still young?

I used to watch this over and over in our Betamax VCR.

Me too. I had it taped ( on VHS), from City TV, and I remember there was a brief news clip of the only Soviet Space Shuttle flight.

We had a Zenith. It was silver and pretty heavy compared to later VCR's. From what I recall, rewinding while it was playing would almost always damage the tape.

This was my family’s first vcr. The wired remote made me feel like a wizard.

The movie came out in 1985
2025-1985 = 40
That is how its 40 years ago
AquafreshBandit@reddit
Well, Im certain that 1995 was only eight years ago, so that means Back to the Future can only be 18 years old.
monstermash420@reddit
40 years doesn’t seem so long when you’re 40-something. When you’re 8 on the other hand, seems like a really long time. Unfathomable really
Zeke688@reddit
Yeah, being further from the 90s now than we were from the 60s when we were kids always blows my mind. 🤯
Zeke688@reddit
You want a Pepsi, pal, you’re gonna pay for it
DiaDeLosMuebles@reddit
I know. This is heavy.

We are not young. Technology and marketing played a trick on Millenials.
peeinian@reddit
If they did a reboot, Marty would go back to 1995!
dollheads@reddit
How is the 20th anniversary collectible dvd set I got twenty years old now?!
epired@reddit
Oh man! I'm recharging my flux capacitor and dusting off the old hover board for this one!
MyCleverNewName@reddit
Because the Y2K actually happened and everything stopped but we can't tell due to perspective.
CelticSith@reddit
Because you're not thinking 4th Dimensionally
Funny_Collection8362@reddit
Aches and pains but still 17 in the head. My Mrs can't make her mind up, she will tell me to grow up then half hour later she says "your such an old man". Make your mind up!

Speak for yourself and get off my lawn.

No, it's um.. time dilation or something.
DustedGorilla82@reddit
I saw it in the theaters a few years ago for BTTF day. Dragging my wife too this definitely
Possible-Tangelo9344@reddit
If I was old could I do this?
sleeps wrong, can't turn my head for the rest of the day, hurts my back going upstairs
JCarr110@reddit
We are not young
Dramatic-Dark-4046@reddit
Ah true… but I am not old either. Like Gandalf, right where I should be when I should be.
zenerNoodle@reddit
1985 + 40 = 2025.
Seems pretty straightforward.
gooby1985@reddit
😉
_MistyDawn@reddit
Because we were really young when that was released.

Ten years ago I dressed up as Doc from the future, because it was the perfect year for it. We just watched the trilogy with my partner's almost-six-year-old, who really enjoyed it.
GRQuake084@reddit
Pepsi Free and swing dancing keeps us youthful
CorgiMonsoon@reddit
I have no problem telling people I’m 45, especially because I still get “really? I would have guessed mid 30s” reactions pretty regularly when I do say that
RegularCommonSense@reddit
Mental youth vs biological youth.
weedtrek@reddit
Simple. You are not young in the least.

Oh wait…
Yeah, totally old. Not even remotely young.

sparkypme@reddit
lol. Sure make me feel old, why don’t you? I’m six years older than the movie. 😂
midnight-dour@reddit
Movie is younger than I am…
