How are your joints? Still healthy or are they like Rice Krispies?

I thought my knees sucked, but I started a 5 min dumbell routine, and they feel way better.
Just need to figure out what to do about my stupid, flat feet.
ReverendHambone@reddit
Usually about a gram and a half with a filter in the end
AlfalfaElectronic720@reddit
I like the 1 gram bodega boyz cones myself. I can get a good 1.3 in there

Fuck your lucky your fingers still work to roll them I’m packing a bowl these days lol

ghandi3737@reddit
toshiko_saturn2250@reddit
Same. Not sure who's rolling joints with cereal around here, but you do you boo-boo.
ghandi3737@reddit
I think they're smoking smuggled compressed brick stress with tons of seeds and stems.
Don't get those seeds and someone might as well have put one of those 'joke' firecrackers to encourage people to stop smoking.
Had a friend do that to half a carton of their moms smokes. Randomly.
Pulled out every smoke, randomly dumped out a small amount of the little crackers and randomly put them into cigs, and randomly putting those in the packs. He even packed every pack after so they couldn't tell by looking at the end that a toothpick had been shoved into it.
ReverendHambone@reddit
Pfft, kids
Such_Victory4589@reddit
kids? where? GET OFF MY LAWN!
DoctorBlazes@reddit
Maybe in the 90s if you didnt get all the seeds out.
Jairoglyphics1@reddit
This is a sign of class and sophistication. A true mature adult versus the pregnant joints we used to smoke back in the day.

AlfalfaElectronic720@reddit
Meh, knees and feet are horrible. Everything else is not too bad. 45 now, first knee replacement is on this Tuesday
Belt-fed78@reddit
Im on my second replacement. First happened when I was in my 20s. Wore that one out so they replaced it shortly before I retired.
Its a double edged sword. Stay active and exercise kept my body healthy. But wore out my implant.
Im 47.
AlfalfaElectronic720@reddit
That must have been some big injury to get one in your 20’s. That’s crazy!
AlfalfaElectronic720@reddit
Thanks good info. Yea I’ve needed one for quite a few years and help off as long as I can. I’m still to young to be so limited as I’m an active person. Just sucks I know that’s a wrap for high impact activities. I used to love running and miss it, wish I could get back to it. But instead maybe I can get back into hiking which I also loved.
CaptainDipshiat@reddit
yo i'm in the same boat but no replacement scheduled, which model are you getting?
AlfalfaElectronic720@reddit
Whatever that latest and greatest “25 year” replacement is. Was waiting about a year for them to field them at our hospital.
WileyPap@reddit
I've always had issues with one of my knees and knew the day was coming someday, but just in the past year my body has started responding with unimpressive urgency to healing minor injuries. They told me this day would come but having it show up is making me realize what a whimp I am, spoiled by a life without pain.
Please tell me your knee replacement doesn't come with months of chronic pain and I'll finally go in. I want to time it before my body's healing process really changes from Unbreakable to Mr. Glass, but late enough that there's somewhere close to zero chance of having to worry about the same limb again when I'm old.
They had 20 year knee replacements 20 years ago, you're telling me I can have an AI read me the entire library of congress from my watch, but they've only added 5 years to knee replacement longevity? MF.
Belt-fed78@reddit
My first knee replacement happened when I was in my 20s. Recovery took 8ish months, but I was also recovering from other things. It was replaced due to being blown up in Iraq. It was supposed to have a lifespan of 15 to 20 years. It was a full year until I was back to the same physical shape as I was before I got hurt.
Something to consider about implant lifespan is they guage that based on the activity level of the people who usually end up getting them. So we're talking 45+ year old people who aren't out running 5 + miles every day or hiking hundreds of miles or more a year with weapons and packs.
That implant lasted a little over 10 years before they had to replace it with one minor surgery midway to tighten it. So I was in my late 30s. Recovery that time was much faster. I was walking assisted within hours of the surgery being done and was back to full duty 12ish weeks later. Pain was minimal during recovery, and there is only a moderate lingering ache now.
I am still very active even after I retired and the pain is manageable. Honestly, I dont even notice it most days. The lifespan on this replacement is supposed to be 20 to 30 years. But I'll likely be looking at another replacement sometime when I'm in my fifties because I am still very active.
AlfalfaElectronic720@reddit
Haha right, I guess that’s the case. I’ve needed
Adrasteia-One@reddit
That sucks. Hope it goes well!

43 and feel great. Played hoops 3 days this week. Strength in between. Lots of focus on explosiveness and leg strength.
Never stop doing what kept you in shape as a kid. Run around. Don’t sit in one place too long. Play sports. Roam around outside for hours at a time. Lift weights.
BouncyCatMama@reddit
They're snap, crackle and popping!
Peanut083@reddit
I did a full tear on my left ACL and MCL a few years ago. I had a reconstruction, and while it took a while to get full strength and function back in the leg, the actual joint feels pretty good now. Everything else still seems like it works without issues.
Bacch@reddit
Mostly fine, with the odd paper banger (if you remember, those things we used to make where you fold the paper just right that if you make a throwing motion without letting it go, it makes a loud snapping sound) when I rise out of a crouching position. My knees were never great, and they've not gotten any better. An ortho told me about a decade ago that I'd have bionic knees within 20-30 years, and so far I've seen no evidence that he's wrong. I carry knee braces with me when I do anything more than a long walk (in other words, I have two knee braces in my golf bag--I live in the foothills above Denver so my home course is a mountain course that requires lots of walking up and down steep inclines even with a cart, which is very hard on my knees).
ApatheistHeretic@reddit
No real pain. But I do sound like I'm dragging a skeleton behind me when I walk.
1friendswithsalad@reddit
Great. Run, lift heavy, everything is still all good. Turning 45 in about a month. The only joints I ever think much about are my wrists, I have to be pretty cautious with pushups and burpees or they get very upset.
bananabastard@reddit
Age 43, no pain anywhere. I'm stronger and more flexible than ever.

My knees have cracked since I've been a kid
thebarbalag@reddit
Back goes out from time to time. Spasm in the T-spine most of the time. Little neuropathy in the elbows. Ankles are crispy. Wrists, too, though not bad. Nothing so bad I need even otc pain meds more than once a month or so.
ElGranQuesoRojo@reddit
I wish it was Rice Krispies. Mine sound more like when ice causes tree branches to break.
anotherpredditor@reddit
I skated and did big jumps. My right knee is croaking and very loudly shifts around. My left is just crunchy.
Novel_Towel6125@reddit
Honestly better than when I was young.
When I was in university, I got patellofemoral syndrome. As it was explained to me, basically the cartilage in my knee got blistered.
Through my 20s it would flare up now and then.
By the time I got to my mid 30s, I got prevention down to a science. Haven't really had an issue in 10 years. Overall I've got a lot better with regular exercise and learning how to manage my body.
I mean...everything does still sound like Rice Krispies. But even though they're noisy, at least they're healthy and pain-free haha
Sharpshooter188@reddit
Stealthy. For about 20 seconds. Then they crack and I get caught.
SunshineInDetroit@reddit
I had a major sprain three weeks ago. I'm still nursing it as it heals. I'm not amused by it.
Anieya@reddit
Hard to say. Kneeling is really difficult, but I was hit by a car at 40 and landed on my knees after being thrown. Only massive bruises though. After a year of healing I’m told I can kneel as well as anyone else in their 40s
Though everyone says that being straight hit by a car and getting away with just one broken rib isn’t something a 40 year old should be able to do, so there is that lol
I have noticed my wrists aren’t as reliable as they used to be, but despite occasional bouts of not wanting to bend without pain, after a couple weeks they tend to go back to normal.
smooth_grooves@reddit
43M: No issues, just a little painless noise in the knees.

Thanks! Good news is that my wife still has a few years to get there lol
MechaNickzilla@reddit
Haha. Ok. I’m 2 years older than you and my wife is your age. Homestly, I felt like I was in my early 30s until 44. Now I feel 50 at 46.
When I was starting to get joint problems and other little things that make it harder to get going in the morning, my wife was like “what’s wrong with you? Should you see a doctor?” I was like “unfortunately, I think I’m just old?” Now I see it happening to her and I try not to say anything.
So there you go. I’m your Ghost of Birthday Future giving you a tiny glimpse into your next two years. Happy fucking birthday.

43M, almost the same. Right knee is rough sometimes, thank you jump school.
amayain@reddit
I have a ton of painless noise in just about every joint. Some of it is constant but some of it goes away after a snap or two (e.g., creaking in the morning, but stops when I move around a bit).
How worried should I be for my joints? Lol
zaminDDH@reddit
42M: I can almost do a pistol squat, and my knees still sound like a cat fighting tissue paper.

Not being a smoker or heavy drinker I'm sure helps a lot too.

jesus christ people, take care of your bodies 🤦🏻♀️ healthcare is not getting any cheaper out here, at some point our generation is going to have to start taking responsibility for our own health because we don’t have the luxury of running to the dr for every little thing like Boomers. as an underinsured person for most of my late 20’s- early 30’s i had to learn that lesson early but i’m glad i did. and obviously, this doesn’t apply to people with chronic/autoimmine/degenerative diseases so don’t @ me. this is for you people who KNOW you haven’t done shit for 25 years and are now complaining that your body’s falling apart. bring on the DV’s, but you know i’m right.

For people who are having joint issues: Drink bone broth/gelatin.
When you get a rotisserie chicken, save the carcass, freeze till you get 2-3 of them, chuck them into a stock pot with a lot of water, onions, carrots, celery, herbs, etc. my wife wraps it all in cheese cloth for easy disposal.
Bring to a boil, lower to a simmer, and let it simmer for several hours, replenishing water as needed. Let cool, remove bag of stuff, strain into a freezer safe container. And you have amazing soup stock, or even just drink it straight, a cup a day.
Your joints will thank you.
lebruf@reddit
I do this in a pressure cooker for an hour, but I slightly char the vegetables before dropping them in and strain through a mesh screen when done. I mostly use the broth in Ramen and curries, but it makes them thicc and tasty.

Just about every movable joint in my body pops some way or another but nothing is in bad enough shape to merit medical treatment and I can still put my hands flat on the floor with my knees straight, hook my own bra, et cetera. Right knee I had a small tear I think but haven’t been to the doctor. Left shoulder and elbow have something going on. Tendinitis/bursitis or torn tendons or something. Probably the first of those options. If I take prednisone the pain mostly goes away. Need to go back and hopefully get some shots to take away the pain.
DoucheyMcBagBag@reddit
Left elbow does a little rice krispy thing when I lift weights. Gotta be careful with technique. Left shoulder/back area has some disc damage and I’m 100% sure it was from one strapping my book bags throughout middle school, high school, and college - honors classes meant extra books and I was already pretty nerdy. Couldn’t go full on 90s nerd and use both straps, you know? Side note - I deeply regret how insecure I was as an adolescent because I was so worried about how people perceived me that I did stupid shit to impress people who didn’t care if I lived or died, and that still affects me in my late 40s.
Otherwise joints are ok. This crap doesn’t stop me from doing what I want to do. I just need some Tylenol and Motrin after.

48 has been a shit year for my body. Joints are fine, but I used to be able to slack off all winter and get in shape when it warms up.
Every time I started running this year, I got hurt. Jogging, like a 10 minute mile pace, and my hamstring pulled. Took a month off, good stretching. Waited 2 weeks after pain was gone. Went back out and on week 2 pulled it again.
Pain gone a few weeks later. Waited 4 more weeks. Went out and felt good. A week later my foot killed. I thought I broke it. Nope. Gout.
Started lifting instead. Started so damn easy. Haven't been able to clench my hand now for the last 2 weeks.

I spent 8 years in the Marine Corps with combat deployments. I have had so had surgery on both knees, my right elbow, right ankle, and both shoulders. I also get injections in my spine to hold off as long as possible on a spinal fusion. I am 42. Lol
savesyertoenails@reddit
ive switched to vaping and edibles
disappointedCoati@reddit
I just graduated from physical therapy after I hurt my back. That shit sucks.
twolfhawk@reddit
This is why you roll stealth at disadvantage after 35
brilliantpants@reddit
They sound like Rice Krispies, but they feel fine.
But I am majorly tempting fate by trying to take up roller derby at 41 years old 😅
consistentstrugglin1@reddit
Arthritis started in my early twenties. They swell and get stiff. 😰 Rain and heat makes them worse.
BongwaterJoe1983@reddit
Im 42 and falling apart torn miniscis and acl in my left knee, fractured L5 vertibrae, systolic and diastolic congestive heart failure, cardiomyopathy, afib and a massive hernia that almost hangs down between my knees complicated by chronic diverticulitis i feel like im self destructing at this point
CoffeeJedi@reddit
I was good until about 2 months ago. I was working on my wooded back yard and I slipped down the hill. On the way down I grabbed a tree with my left arm, and now every morning my shoulder is super sore and my hand goes numb. I stretch it out and it feels a bit better but the next morning it resets.
NukeBroadcast@reddit
Sometimes fireworks, mostly Rice Krispies
ChaoticForkingGood@reddit
My joints are shit. I've already got an arthritic condition called ankylosing spondylitis, and then there's just random crap like how I slept so funny on my right shoulder a few days ago that I can't lift things without a lot of "OW, FUCK."
gooch_norris_@reddit
Every morning I get out of bed it sounds like I’m pouring milk on a bowl of cracklin’ oat bran
Little_Red_Sloth@reddit
Snap crackle pop? lol 🤣
giraffemoo@reddit
I'm more of a crackling fireplace but yeah there's some snapping and popping
jamesjgriffin@reddit
My god. I can barely move. Shoulders spine, hips, feet...
Hands... Arthritis is an absolute monster.
H-A-R-B-i-N-G-E-R@reddit
Just woke up with really bad back pain. Couldn’t tell you why.
GeetarEnthusiast85@reddit
I dunno. I did Jiu-Jitsu and MMA in my 20s and certain joints have snapped, crackled and popped ever since.
Bastard1066@reddit
My knees and hips are golden. I've started doing split squats and I think it's helped with my flexibility and joint muscles. Now my wrists and hands, I'm an 80 year old woman.
Albuwhatwhat@reddit
Still totally healthy. Had some small issues but worked through them with light exercise and strengthening. No long term issues yet. Fingers crossed.
Pinepark@reddit
Going for a follow up to the MRI. They think it’s a torn meniscus.
Broke my right femur last October after doing demo work from the hurricanes in Florida.
Then add in perimenopause which is actively trying to destroy all other things…
Great. I’m doing great.
BlackestHerring@reddit
I tore my meniscus. How’d I do that? I simply stood up from sitting. It went snap crackle pop! Then I needed a cortisone shot
TraditionalMood277@reddit
You know the sound of a near rusted shut metal door being pried open for the first time in a century? Yeah, that, but every time I get up.
MrIrvington@reddit
Snap crackle pop
rjcpl@reddit
My ankles have always snap crackle popped. So loudly that walking down hallways at work people turn around to look.
BananaHamPanther@reddit
Me too! And knees. Even in high school they were loud. I hate walking next to people on a staircase because I know they can hear me.
481126@reddit
I developed arthritis as a child so now with 30+ years of RA damage I have the joints of an 80 year old. :P I still keep active and am still walking without a mobility aid and I will do it as long as it's safe to do so.
Deedeelite@reddit
My husband used to skate when he was a kid and used to fall on the same knee. Now, 35 years later, his knee looks like hills and valleys. Like it might sprout rhino horns at any minute. And it cracks and grinds. I don't know how he even walks on that thing.
Azcrul@reddit
Some days like today I’m fine, others just a bit stiff lol. At random times my left knee will sound like Rice Krispies every step I take, usually when shopping for some reason! Body took a beating growing up, but nothing serious fortunately
Straight-Event-4348@reddit
Snap crackle pop all day
Tancred81@reddit
Like 75% good, 25% crepitus cannons

I was told Rice Krispies are part of a healthy breakfast, so both
fondofbooks@reddit
My right knee has OA and the left one is getting there. I was having major back issues till I bought a mattress topper and now it's 85% better.
PetMonsterGuy@reddit
I did pro wrestling in college, so my knees have been cracking since my 20’s. The rest of me is pretty decent still, though
Defiant_Cookie_4963@reddit
Not too bad so far, but I’m still sprightly at 40 😆 (Also go to the gym twice a week and try to stretch more)
xander6981@reddit
Every time I get out of bed, I'm reminded of Harold Ramis' line from Stripes: "I've never heard bones creak like that before."
Glittering_Tea5502@reddit
They have sounded clicky for years, starting with my jaw at age 15 or 16.
AndrewInMN@reddit
No issues. Just out of shape. My back will get sore if I do too much, but no chronic pain. Knock on wood.
No_Cicada_7003@reddit
I've got a rice Krispy right elbow, but otherwise, I'm doing good. So far.
HobKnobblin@reddit
Day to day, not bad. In the gym, my elbows and shoulders sound problematic at best
RoyalZeal@reddit
*screams in arthritis*
Curtainmachine@reddit
More like twigs and stalks of celery. Rice Krispies can’t produce the kind of volume my joints are putting out
COV3RTSM@reddit
If I watched a movie and then stood up you would think someone was crumpling a bag of Doritos
DiaDeLosMuebles@reddit
When I get together with my brothers for chromas. I want to play “count the cracking sounds” if we squat all the way down and back up again
_furd_terguson@reddit
Knees grind and ankle pops, and I roll em short with a nice folded accordion crutch.
Been getting back into skateboarding and it’s doing wonders for my support muscles and cardio, falling sure sucks though … the weed is nice for that!
Moustashe@reddit
Rice Krispies. I had spinal fusion a year-ish ago. Fused four vertebrae.
midnight-dour@reddit
I’m thinking Rice Krispies would be an improvement.
