How’s the gas on these things when suppressed. I’m assuming I’ll be gassed out.
Read0215@reddit
Well most .300 BO are gassed to have enough gas to cycle subs, so when you combine supers and a high back pressure can then yeah, it will have some extra gas for sure
Confident-Stranger84@reddit
Should I buy this as my first AR?
CHESTYUSMC@reddit
Definitely not... 12.5-16 inch 5.56 is the way for you to guy...
.300BLK has a larger learning curve since it has more bullet drop regardless of your load, you can't switch between super's and sub's as easily as people like to claim. (I got hate for this last time, but I still to this day have not seen someone run 40k rounds through a .300blk that is made to cycle both cartridges because it beats the piss out of the gun, or won't run subs.)
Not to mention it's more expensive than 5.56 if you do decide to commit and get over the training curve, and double the ballistic dope, and such.
Some people love .300, and that's ok, but do your wallet, and yourself a favor, grab yourself a 5.56 first, and decide if you want a .300 later.
Confident-Stranger84@reddit
Great, thanks for the insight
Jason1435@reddit
If you are or planning to shoot suppressed yes.
Ok-Departure3749@reddit
I would say no. 556 ar15 for first gun. Ammo cheaper so more shooting time
FrankyBenjamin@reddit
Agreed. .300 is a pretty niche caliber. 556 is much more versatile and affordable to shoot. You also don’t need to spend anywhere this much on a first AR. You’d be better served getting something cheaper, buying an optic, ammo, mags, and a light and spending time at the range.
EchoWhiskey_@reddit
yep
Confident-Stranger84@reddit
What first 5.56 rifle would you recommend,
MisterAC@reddit (OP)
Just my opinion, but no
Confident-Stranger84@reddit
Thanks, what do you recommend for a 556 ar15 then? I’m in GA so I don’t think there’s that many rules about rifles but haven’t done enough research.
UndeadZombie81@reddit
As long as you follow federal rules about sbrs and full auto ga doesnt have anything extra about long guns
MisterAC@reddit (OP)
I just linked another deal that I think is cheap. Never heard of it before though.
strizzl@reddit
Bereli hs some DDm4v7s at an insanely good price
FaultySage@reddit

Here's a solid option for a first AR-15. Can't speak to the quality of the optic but at least it's there so you can get started right out of the box then upgrade later as needed.
risengrind19@reddit
I wouldnt get a .300 BLK gun for your first AR, unless your willing to spend way more on ammo. You wont be able to shoot nearly as far with this as a 14.5 to 16" 5.56 AR either.
Confident-Stranger84@reddit
What 5.56 AR do you recommend for my first?
Bearloom@reddit
How much are you looking to spend, and do you like fiddling with things to make them just right for you or do you want something that's pretty much set already?
Confident-Stranger84@reddit
Less than $1k ideally, and pretty much set would be nice. Thinking rifle, optic, and light all for under $1k?
zombrian666@reddit
All that? Maybe palmetto state armory. Either a whole rifle or build kit. Just a name brand reliable value rifle? Probably IwI or ruger 556 for around $700.
risengrind19@reddit
Yeah what I suggested is obviously out of the question now. See there was a rifle just posted with an optic for $800 in here but have no idea what theyre like. I definitely wouldnt buy the $500 PSA rifle as my first if I did it over again.
Confident-Stranger84@reddit
thanks yall
i might just take the advice and get a reliable whole rifle
zombrian666@reddit
This should be like a second rifle for this person, haha. Next time. I actually got a ruger for my first. No complaints. I actually got the posted pdw here later on, and again, no complaints. Id personally stretch the budget and put the accessories on hold and get ammo. Have fun for a little while. Maybe get the accessories around black Friday.
risengrind19@reddit
If your budget for just the weapon itself is around this mark you could go alot of different directions. Reddit special BCM (Bravo Company Manufacturing) upper with an Aero or PSA lower. There's been alot of great DD 5.56 deals the past couple months off and on. You'll almost always save money typically buying an upper and a lower separately. Unless you absolutely need ambidextrous controls a $299 PSA lower with a giesselle trigger, with either of those two uppers is going to be an excellent rifle to learn on. Way nicer than most people get for their first. I'm sure someone else will chime in as well.
Psychological-Drive4@reddit
That’s a lot of $ for a NONpiston setup
CHESTYUSMC@reddit
Not anymore...
MattieHeighs@reddit
Hmmm… do you live in reality?
Puzzled-Garlic-3193@reddit
Should I get this or a sugar weasel??
ColdTexaRican@reddit
I bought both and kept the sugar weasel. The DD was fine but I like that the Sugar weasel doesnt have proprietary parts. Its also lighter and I like the cherry bomb system. Plus the 1:5 twist barrel which is outstanding. People hate on Q but most have never owned one. I will say that I dont love the adjustable gas block so mines is set up for suppressor use only. But I wont be getting rid of it anytime soon.
EverythingIsTaken109@reddit
What proprietary parts does the DD have?
ColdTexaRican@reddit
Buffer system is proprietary, its a variation of the maxim defense buffer system designed specifically for DD. Sugar Weasel is compatible with mil spec ar15 parts.
blastmaster_@reddit
Sugar weasel is lighter and comes with a suppressor ready muzzle device. Some configurations have a buffer tube setup if that’s what you prefer. Can’t go wrong with the DD pdw either imo.
kneecough@reddit
It also comes with a 1 in 5 twist barrel, and an adjustable gas block. I’d take the sugar weasel.

This
Puzzled-Garlic-3193@reddit
What would give this the advantage over the weasel in your opinion?
Jason1435@reddit
Near bulletproof quality and QC vs hipster meme gun, Q is a roll stamp seller
bootsblazing@reddit
DD is also very reputable
nsfwsten@reddit
I am 99.9% sure Marty Daniels will never make a YouTube or Instagram post shit talking a customer.
TechImage69@reddit
Dude is too busy negotiating government contracts, something Q isn't familiar with.
bootsblazing@reddit
Not made by Q
TheManUpstairs77@reddit
Should be the tag line for everything gun-related not made by Q.
BigBlue_223@reddit
G$ .300 BLK
ItsRickySpanish@reddit
I do really like these, would be a cool first 300
CannaChemistry@reddit
Is the barrel recessed just flush?
ConstructionOk2605@reddit
I put a cherry bomb on mine and it is just proud enough the suppressor doesn't have to fit inside the handguard.
