Read that Rick Moranis was going to be in City Slickers but left because of his wife I believe. So Daniel Stern was cast.
Moranis had been training for a few weeks on how to ride a horse for the movie. When Stern came on board, he decided his character wouldn’t know how to ride a horse and have trouble with it since his character is from the city.
