Im just curious and want to visit if u guys have any please share.
Aerosucre_B727@reddit
45°15'34.6"N 121°59'42.8"W I haven't personally visited or know how. I'm not sure if there's a trail to but it's possible. The remains of West Coast Airlines flight 956, a Douglas DC-9 which crashed near Mt. Hood due to a possible controlled flight into terrain. As a Portland Local I want to see if it's possible to visit
Feeling-Newspaper-53@reddit
Is it just exploded or is it some sort of metal body you could pick up
Long-Replacement6091@reddit (OP)
Wow this is something i truly didnt know about but personally I wouldnt reccomend visiting because it's pretty much in the middle of nowhere.
Aerosucre_B727@reddit
Yeah. I want to visit but honestly with my unexperience i would probably be part of the 1k who go missing in the Cascades 😭
Long-Replacement6091@reddit (OP)
Yeah personally i would fly over a drone that has strong battery or hike there but camp in the way and get strong gps
WellOkayMaybe@reddit
There's B-52 landing gear in a pond in Hanoi.
Feeling-Newspaper-53@reddit
My dad is going to Hanoi. Holy shit! I’m going to be a b52 gear richer
OneLorgeHorseyDog@reddit
Google the Baldy Hellcats, that’s an accessible (barely) wreck
Long-Replacement6091@reddit (OP)
Just google you are right its a very hard wreckage but i didnt know abt it so tysm for sharing this info with me.
OneLorgeHorseyDog@reddit
For sure! I’ve made the hike myself, it’s tough. Very cool, though.
Long-Replacement6091@reddit (OP)
So can you please provide the coordinates if possible.
OneLorgeHorseyDog@reddit
The wrecks are scattered over a bit of an area but the approx coordinates are 34°16'54"N, 117°38'53"W.

I have one last question do you have the coordinates?
Long-Replacement6091@reddit (OP)
Nice tysm ig
JaiBoltage@reddit
Google "1996 New Hampshire Learjet Crash" which was accidentally discovered by a hiker three years after it disappeared. Some even wondered if the plane had been stolen by the crew (who were the only occupants)
Long-Replacement6091@reddit (OP)
Do people know its coordinates tho?
healthycord@reddit
Kinda hard to spot from google maps, but there is a crashed B17 here. Accessible via the Tubalcain trailhead in the Olympic Mountains. Cool hike and can be done in a day.
I believe it crashed into the top of the mountain during cloudy conditions in winter. I think most of the crew survived and were rescued soon after. Later on, the plane slid down the mountain to the creek where it now resides. Most of the valuables were salvaged and a lot of it has been picked clean. But you can definitely tell it is a plane, and if you know what you’re looking for, a B17.

This location in the Western Sahara is where the South African Air Force (SAAF) Avro Shackleton, known as Pelican 16, crash-landed in July 1994 after a failed attempt to reach Duxford for preservation.

magnum_the_nerd@reddit
Considering it was dragged out of the sea and they don’t really have the money to restore it, yeah its gonna be in a rough shape.
Tricksilver89@reddit
We have hundreds of the buggers in the UK. I'd be more than happy to repaint and send one to replace whatever that is.
magnum_the_nerd@reddit
its the lower half of the wreck of one, shoddily painted so it wasn’t displayed in bare metal
vukasin123king@reddit
Doesn't really look that awful with shape(although I'm not really familiar with P-40s so I might be missing something). Paint does look like shit though, but you should see how the Belgrade military museum paints their stuff(with store-bought spray paint) if you want to see proper crap.
streetlegalb17@reddit
Radiator cowling is lumpy and malformed, landing gears wrong with their doors completely missing, wing root awkwardly shaped, and obv the paint is dogshit— it’s like a botched plastic surgery with cheap makeup to try and hide it 😭😭 as a P-40 fanatic I can’t look no more
Still-Ambassador2283@reddit
Why even "restore" her? Preserve her and show her off exactly how you found her!
ExoticMangoz@reddit
Better yet, leave it where it is
syfari@reddit
The moment its location was disclosed that was no longer realistic. It’d have been torn to shreds by scrappers within a year
ExoticMangoz@reddit
That’s a shame. There are some near me from ww2 that have been fine.
llamafarmadrama@reddit
Things left where they are often get picked apart, better to be displayed in a museum where it can be preserved and used to educate.

From what I remember, the path itself is marked, but it is a little hard to find the trailhead. As of a few years ago, it was marked with two American flags close to the summit of Sharp Top Mountain.

A crash coordinate i desperately want is the crash of the Panavia Tornado IDS MM7074 of the Italian Air Force in January 1991,during the First Gulf War. The only public info regarding the location is that it crashed 20km NW of Kuwait City, but that's it. The AM (Italian Air Force) publicly revealed that they recovered only the black box and the bulletproof glass of the cockpit which is on display on the entrance of an Italian Air Base (with a 23mm shell still bludgeoned inside it, apparently)
There are no photos, nor in the past or recently,of the wreck

zusia@reddit
Yeah, these were eventually cleared away. I worked for both companies — different years—and it was so sad to see our aircraft all burned up in the case of the Continental. The AirCal one was kinda funny- the PIC was a guy named Clarke and the restaurant at SNA in the 80’s was Delaney’s but we renamed it “Clarke’s Landing” in honor of that incident. The aircraft remained right there until the NTSB were done with it.

The story goes: in 1983 this Cessna flew into the side of a mountain (along the Blue Ridge Parkway) due to poor visibility.
Neither of the 2 on board survived.
The engines and bodies were quickly recovered, but the rest of the plane remains there today.
It is extremely eerie, considering you can see everything down to the pilot’s seat and seat belt down the hill a little ways. It’s surprisingly not horribly vandalized and not even that well known.
