Is this the US Marshals Con Air?
BakerHasHisKitchen@reddit
Yeah they fly with the callsign justice. The Federal Transfer Center is on the southwest corner of the airport south of the FAA ramp.
hapybratt@reddit
Is there a list somewhere or all the cool call signs in the US? Everyone knows of air-force one, but I had never heard of justice. Pretty neat.
hungy54@reddit
https://henney.com/chm/callsign.htm
This doesn’t cover everything but it does cover the vast majority of cool military call signs
Kepler1609a@reddit
Is this the one where Harrison ford throws dudes out the door while shouting “GET OFF MY PLANE”
TheCuriousCrocc@reddit
That’s Air Force One, Con Air is Nic Cage movie
Kepler1609a@reddit
Ahh, that’s right. Which one do they kill off Steven segal in the first 5 minutes?
TheCuriousCrocc@reddit
Might be thinking of ‘Executive Decision’ with Kurt Russell, that’s what google told me at least
captainklaus@reddit
All three movies are a ton of fun, I’d rate them in the following order:
Con Air (unhinged Cage southern accent/mullet, cusack, malcovich, ving Rhames, Danny Trejo)
Air Force One (Harrison ford as the president, Gary Goldman as a Russian terrorist)
Executive Decision (Seagal gets ejected 5 min in, Kurt Russel/jon leguzamo, the black dude from terminator 2, Oliver platt)
GenitalPatton@reddit
What a weird way to describe him when you named everyone else. He is Joe Morton.
captainklaus@reddit
I just couldn’t remember his name off the top of my head dude, no need to read into it
GenitalPatton@reddit
If only there was a device at your fingertips to look up information like that in less than 2 seconds
captainklaus@reddit
Yeah you got me I was secretly being racist against Joe Morton (but not ving rhames) instead of just being lazy
GenitalPatton@reddit
I didn’t say anything about racism
CounterSimple3771@reddit
Ain't no one throwing Segal anywhere.stevo
Kepler1609a@reddit
😂 I’m afraid this cargo would exceed the aircraft’s max TOW
Live-Juggernaut-221@reddit
No it's the one where he yells "GET OFF MY RUNWAY" as he lands on taxiway Charlie.
L1terallyUrDad@reddit
Harrison Ford was on one of these, but not Air Force One (also the title of the Movie). This was used in the movie “US Marshalls” where it crashed in Kentucky, and Wesley Snipes, escaped. “US Marshalls” was the sequel to “The Fugitive”, which stared Harrison Ford as the fugitive, who escaped from a corrections bus. Both are good movies, but Ford has two degrees of separation in this case.
Kepler1609a@reddit
Yes! That’s the one. Actually a great movie.
meesersloth@reddit
I saw a video on this. Its so weird seeing a prison structure with a jet way attached to it lol.
speculator100k@reddit
Worst lounge ever.
thethirdllama@reddit
The frequent flyer program is nothing to write home about either.
JustARandomGuyReally@reddit
But very exclusive.
warm-saucepan@reddit
I flew on one of these in '89 or '90. Up and down the east coast. I wondered why the landings were so hard. I was told the pilots were practicing short runway, or emergency landings. Passengers couldn't really complain.
warm-saucepan@reddit
Oh, now that I think about it, that journey ended for me at El Reno FCI, OK.
HuskerDave@reddit
Gotta get indicted, to be invited.
antariusz@reddit
They were using a military callsign actually.
BakerHasHisKitchen@reddit
They are not military, they are DOJ.
antariusz@reddit
And yet, what I said is true.
BakerHasHisKitchen@reddit
What was the callsign?
Boring_Industry_693@reddit
Their actual hangar is on the north east side of the airport
BakerHasHisKitchen@reddit
That’s true, next to CBPs
Ready-Philosophy7516@reddit
Any chance this was the plane? My antenna caught it!
Maximus13@reddit
Category, Dogs With Jobs
Ready-Philosophy7516@reddit
I don’t make the category names lol
Stishovite@reddit
OK but who does? it's fantastic.
Ready-Philosophy7516@reddit
Look up plane fence it’s a self hosted app, it’s very cool! When my antenna catches a plane in a certain category it have it setup to send me a discord message
turpentinedreamer@reddit
Is dogs with jobs on that list?
Ready-Philosophy7516@reddit
Yes
wstsidhome@reddit
Cameron Poe, lol. Nice 👌
MyNameis_Not_Sure@reddit
Tagged with Cameron Poe lol (Nick Cage character in Con Air)
g3nerallycurious@reddit
Yep! OKC resident here. Every single federal prison transfer gets flown through OKC, every single air traffic controller gets trained in OKC, and the USAF’s largest maintenance depot is the USAF base in OKC.
HuskerDave@reddit
And the airport is named after someone that died in a plane crash!
Semper454@reddit
Both primary OKC airports, for that matter
roy-dam-mercer@reddit
Story time.
So I worked at a small airport in NE OKC in the late 80s. The husband of a popular TV anchor owned a plane and based it there. I always got the impression from my brief encounters with him that he was a compulsive liar.
Not too long after DOJ started flying out of Will Rogers, he gets a job with them as a pilot. Pretty sure they were flying 727s at the time, but I don’t know if he was hired right seat or sitting sideways. Anycrap, he seemed quite proud of his U.S. Marshall badge. Unfortunately, he didn’t last long. Story I heard was he embellished his experience level to get the job and they figured him out pretty quick like.
Sorry, I know it’s not as good as the 80s Mathis Brother rumor.
g3nerallycurious@reddit
Remind me of the 80s rumor? My favorite OKC story is Operation Bongo.
roy-dam-mercer@reddit
I don’t think I’ve heard of Operation Bongo.
911: “911, what is your emergency?”
Mathis Brother: “I’ve got a gerbil stuck up my @$$.”
911: “Sir, please try to stay calm and don’t agitate it. What’s the address?”
Mathis Brother: “3434 W. Reno”
Probably not a real event, but it spread like wildfire. There was a similar story about Richard Gere.
I asked a Mathis Brothers employee about the story once and they told me it’s an immediate termination if they discuss it.
cnollz@reddit
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oklahoma_City_sonic_boom_tests
That gerbil story is wild…
roy-dam-mercer@reddit
Oh, the sonic boom tests! I probably just forgot it was called Operation Bongo. Grandpa installed wood paneling throughout the house after sonic booms caused their drywall to crack.
turpentinedreamer@reddit
I hate this new phone ai sharpening shit. Zoom in and all the details are just garbage.
B_O_A_H@reddit
What’s the purpose?
Subject9800@reddit
Transferring prisoners in federal custody.
B_O_A_H@reddit
That’s pretty cool, I think a 737 is too fancy a plane for them, how about an old DC-3?
747ER@reddit
And being a taxpayer, you’re willing to pay for them to use an aircraft that’s a quarter of the size with much less efficient engines, comparatively terrible performance, an almost non-existent spare parts supply chain, and a fraction of the range and speed?
devoduder@reddit
I’d see that plane quite often when I had an office next to the flight line at Vandenberg AFB. There’s a large fed prison complex next to the base and we’d see a big convoy of cops and busses for the transfers. Very interesting to watch.
FlightFramed@reddit
Damn, that'd have been one unique static too
devoduder@reddit
It would have been great to have. On the plus side I did get to drive a golf cart through a C-5 during the airshow.
FlightFramed@reddit
At our last local airshow they let me turn off a Bluetooth speaker with the anti drone gun, favorite airshow experience by far 😂
MICKWESTLOVESME@reddit
Damn your cameras compression did not do that plane justice. Those windows are freaky.
Liamnacuac@reddit
I bet the stewards are mean..
Boring_Industry_693@reddit
Us marshalls, they have a hangar off the north north-west side of 17L (35R) twy november
rdm55@reddit
Non- winglet 737. That is a rare thing
ToGreatPlanes@reddit
Yeah we get JPATS pretty frequently here
ByrsaOxhide@reddit
Nicholas Cage should be a passenger then. Yay.
flywithmeify@reddit
That or Area 51 Janice Jet.
NOCO5900@reddit
Nah, the Janet jets have a red or maroon stripe and don’t fly the flag.
Street_Fennel_9483@reddit
Possibly related. I saw a 747 fly into Mugu Navel Air Station (KNTD) the other day. Unusual and couldn’t tell livery. Came out of OKO if I recall correctly. Left me confused as it had Justice listed also.
Gwenbors@reddit
OKC is Con Air’s hub.
Plastic_Most_9285@reddit
They fly in and out every day.
