All the unnecessary pre-installed crap that comes on new computers. Depending on the device and software it can be unreasonably hard to completely remove.
The simplest solution is to do a clean install of the OS on any new computer and redownload whatever drivers you need.
AI features seem to be built around creating the most intrusive spyware imaginable, it's a shame that consumers are letting them get away with baking it into everything.
Yeah some of us have to do work. some of us work in organisations that require documents to be formatted into word or other pieces of software like google drive.
i had a computer with like 200gb of space, before it kinda just didnt work very well and i stopped using it. i eventually got a new computer and pretty much deleted everything from the old one.
the storage is still full.
I installed Windows 11 multiple times and I don't have anything other than Microsoft products, and even then I can remove the majority of them. If you pay attention during the install process you can say no to most of it.
Yeah? Which country? I have experience with plenty of home pro and enterprise and never get anything other than Microsoft products as long as I pay attention and say no at the right time during the initial install
You didn't answer what country... I haven't had issues like that since Windows 8.1, when it would try to install all the new apps like Candy Crush and stuff, Windows 10 and 11 have both never done that to me outside of initially installing OneDrive or asking if I want Microsoft 365
its usually in the releases tab on the right side of the website 99% of the time. 1%, they put a download link in the readme in the middle of the website. as long as u read it ur good
I hate the OneDrive folder, I don't use it and one time I accidentally moved a folder way over the free storage with lots of files, and for some reason me cancelling the transfer fucked up the way I had them sorted, had to manually sort them back for a while
"Hey, man I know you have afresh new computer with a 1Tb SSD, but you should know that cloud is the future. For that reason it has installed One Drive by default with the documents folder automaticaly a part of it. What? 1Tb? Of course not, you only get 5Gb after that it stops and you have to pay for it. You wouldn't expect it to be free like some sort of comunist. Now give me your credit card and your data that I have access to by contract so I can start training my AI that nobody asked for with it and sell it to scam callcenters in Punjab."
I felt so insulted when I bought my last computer with windows 11 that I finaly decided to switch to Ubuntu.
You misunderstand, it will back up your files and keep programs from accessing them without your permission. I've watched a friend try to play a game and go through the different processes of why it's not working, turns out Onedrive owns the documents folder that should be a default folder normally. There's no documents folder where the stuff would normally go, so Onedrive ends up taking it and disallowing other apps from accessing necessary files.
Although, this is just with Windows 11 last I checked since my old PC on 10 didn't do it. Onedrive would occasionally turn on and try to save my desktop sometimes though even though I told it to piss off a year earlier
That'd be great if oneDrive did not hijack your desktop by default. If you buy a new computer with Windows and save files to your desktop, they aren't saved in your hard drive but straight to oneDrive, so it's not much of a backup.
It'd make sense the other way around though, where your files are by default saved on your local computer, and it automatically backs it up in oneDrive
Arch: Good luck loser. Have fun manually building repositories every time you want to install a program with pacman. Still stuck? Just read the 100+ page documentation and work it out from there.
It's fine if they acted as just-another-cloud-backup-drive™. But noo, THEY FUCKING FORCED DESKTOP TO SYNC DATA INSIDE THE CLOUD AND BITCHING IF THE STORAGE IS FULL OR SOMETHING
I actually lost my 5 years data because my drive is apparently "full" with 2.1 gb of 2 gb taken. So, the most obvious method they took is by deleting the entire fucking drive and memory that I had
Yeah but how do u expect people to know to do this before it's an issue? The average person is not even looking half that deep into something. It should come installed, but disabled AT MOST.
Sorry but, the average person using windows 11 doesn't care whether one drive syncs stuff or not. The only people who care make up a small portion of Microsofts customer base.
I have not cared about it at all until this past year where for some fucking reason Oblivion Remastered auto-saves to OneDrive, rapidly eating up space while also being completely unrecognized by Steam as a valid save location
Me when I boot up my PC and Windows doesn’t care to load my taskbar but makes sure to open a billion random applications I haven’t used in years and/or tried to delete

Depend on edition and / or language and / or country.
I never personally had the issue since I always use the Enterprise LTSC or IoT LTSC edition and those doesn't came with that crap.

Always had the crapware with the Family (or Home now?).
Note: it's NEVER just at the installation, it's once connected to the internet and the update roll out that all the bloat are downloaded and appair.
