I loved this show and Eurekas Castle! Gah I miss those days lol

We watch āThe Bells of Fraggle Rockā every year at Christmas.

My favorite!! I have the box set.

I loved this show but it also kinda creeped me out as a little kid. I can't put my finger on why, but tbf I barely remember anything about it.

"just got my 2 year old..."
Just admit you got it for yourself. No Shane in it!!!
Iamstu@reddit (OP)
Yeah, screw that guy Shane!
RainerGerhard@reddit
This sounds like a joke, but I think that the majority of human beings can be classified as either Fraggle or Doozer accurately.

Honk Pass it on!

Have you watched Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock on AppleTV? Season 1 is great; Season 2 is unwatchable. My son (3) loved Season 1 so much that we took him to the stage show Jim Hensonās Fraggle Rock, and when Juniorās giant hand reached out and grabbed Gobo off stage right before intermission, I had to physically restrain my son from going back stage to make sure he was ok. I honestly donāt think Iāve ever seen him enjoy something as much as that show. Maybe going to the beach for the first time.
SPOILER: Gobo was fine; Junior thought he was a radish. Classic Junior.
Crans10@reddit
I used to watch this at my Grandmother's house. She had cable and HBO.
Neither-Principle139@reddit
They PAID for cable?!! Git lucky before they changed the boxes over and my dad rigged one to get all the stations⦠one of the few boomer skills that was usefulā¦
Crans10@reddit
My Uncle paid for my grandmother's cable.
TransportationOk657@reddit
Fellow cable-deprived Xennial, here! My cousin had cable, so I was always really excited to watch it over at his house!
Crans10@reddit
The moment I left the house and went to college my parents got DirecTV and every channel. I was like wtf. They said they didnāt want me watching soft core.

I'm seriously screaming at the claims that our things were not super stimulating... Seriously?
Fraggle Rock was amazing...
Jim Henson had plenty of cracked out nightmares
Hysterical takes
Opinions make the world go round
Thanks for sharing so much nostalgia!
And now I have the Snorks song stuck in my head...
zeussays@reddit
I tried finding this on our streaming services and couldnt, so thanks OP. It was on sale for 25 bucks and thats a no brainer for me - this was my favorite show as a kid and cant wait for mine to see it now.
YueHyrule@reddit
Have you and your kid seen the new one on Apple plus ??Ā
LivingCamel3326@reddit
You mean you just yourself the entire series

I loved this show but at the same time it gave me sleep paralysis nightmares.
diypizza@reddit
I want this for myself lol
fanofoddthings@reddit
That's a lot better than now. Kids shows now look so neon. Super overstimulating.
CEEngineerThrowAway@reddit
Support your PBS, their current kids show lineup is great and sneaks in learning. Daniel Tiger has helped us through many new experiences
0sqs@reddit
I don't think I have ever been over stimulated in my entire life. Lights, sounds, colors...never.
fanofoddthings@reddit
Hi, I was diagnosed aspergers as a child. (Does anyone know what Im supposed to call that since I haven't done a rediagnosis as an adult? I learned to manage being weird, but i never stopped being weird.) Also have adhd too but thats irrelevant. I have absolutely gotten overstimulated. I used to scream and cry as a kid because people made too much noise. I had to have a damn hall pass to leave class when the kids would not quit screaming or I'd freak out. It's like overloading a computer, essentially. Computers don't function well when overloaded, and neither do I. Luckily, I outgrew a lot of that but I've had a few instances where I damn near had a meltdown

Youāre doing a great job! I, for one, am proud that my daughter is obsessed with the great muppet caper. (Which has yet to be surpassed as the greatest muppet movie of all time.)
Few_Improvement_6357@reddit
All hail the trash heap. The trash heap has spoken.
Overall-Ask-8305@reddit
I loved my Fraggles. I wasnāt a huge muppets fan, but I loved Fraggle Rock. I think I still have my McDonaldās Happy Meal toy Fraggles.
OGdrummerjed@reddit
Sure, for your 2 year old.
Iamstu@reddit (OP)
Might be a selfish move. We've been trying to keep him off the new super stimulating stuff so it's Thomas or early sesame Street.
OGdrummerjed@reddit
If you have a Plex or jellyfin server, just go ahead and rip those and add to the library. Then put the DVDs in the closet. Hard to scratch them that way.

I tried so hard to indoctrinate my kids into Fraggle Rock and none of the 3 had any interest.
Rare-Treat-2727@reddit
Really?? What a bummer. My kid loves it!
seanymphcalypso@reddit
My work kids do too! I may have signed into my Apple TV account and let the gossip know she can watch anything sheād like on it during the off hours. (Itās not authorized for purchases!) My home kids however have never even made it halfway through the opening song. I blame their father lol
sherahero@reddit
Same with my 2, we have a bunch of the books and they never wanted to read them eitherĀ
TransportationOk657@reddit
I had my kids watching it in the mid-2010s (in part because my wife and I wanted to watch the show again, and also because we needed a break from SpongeBob). They liked it at first but soon lost interest and wanted their SpongeBob back....
Checktheusernombre@reddit
Same! They just did not get it.

Loved this show and all things Jim Henson as a kid, but The Doozers terrified.
Yeeslander@reddit
My favorite childhood VHS "mix tape" was an episode of Fraggle Rock, The Secret of NIMH, The Dark Crystal, and another episode of Fraggle Rock. It was my weird, fanciful little happy place.
G0rillaHandz@reddit
As a child I despised the fraggles. I couldn't get past them eating the doozer's hard work. Fuck you Boober.
