I got this when I was around 5 years old. Now my 7yo loves it. Did anyone ever have a copy of it?

I wonder how outdated or relevant it is.
jeb_hoge@reddit
It's also completely pre-stealth.

Looking at my copy on my desk here, Fairly dated. One of the biggest vaporware weapons was the WASP missile that was going to be the miracle air-to-ground weapon that never appeared, Maybe the Brimstone is the closest thing we got.
The book was published before there was any valid information on the Mig-29 or SU-27.

There were three others that I can remember. That one, Tanks, and Sea combat, and helicopters. I had all 4.
Yes I was that kid. Didn't get out much, still don't.

Some cool relic you got there!

I had that book too and loved it. Which is why I was so excited to find a great copy at a garage sale last year!
belugarooster@reddit
I have this too! Replaced my lost copy from when it was new just a couple years ago for like $10. Great book!

Yes I have it, along with other Salamander books of that era. I would say these things fueled my desire to go into Aviation as a career, and that was all she wrote.

Nothing like an aviation book by Bill Gunston. Truly the best aviation encyclopedia author.
surewriting_@reddit
Oh man I had that book too. Probably still do somewhere. I should pull it out for the kids.
It led me into a career of working on jets in the military, and that, more than anything else, almost made me hate airplanes lol.
Texas_Kimchi@reddit
I have the entire set of these books and still love them 42 years later.
WarthogOsl@reddit
Still have mine...it's in somewhat better shape. I wish my Encyclopedia of World Air Power was as well preserved. It was basically my bible when I was a kid. Not my copy (the jacket is long gone):
EllyKayNobodysFool@reddit
I took them out from the library all the time. Still love books like this.

I still have mine.

I had several growing up, read all, cover to cover, and kept re-reading parts of them, again and again....

I had one, but I was in high school.
