I bought the hardcover edition of “On the Edge” by Hammond on Amazon for 3 euros. Condition: used, good.
Turns out, it’s signed. ☝️😃

"Production team as usual has provided me with a CD to keep me awake on this long and difficult and perilous voyage." - Clarkson on listening to Hammond narrating this very book while racing the SUN

Off the edge would be a more accurate title

That hadn't happened when he wrote the book, otherwise you never know!

Is this the same book James turned into toilet paper on Man Lab?
bobj33@reddit
That's what I was thinking! I just watched the episode and it was Hammond's earlier book "As You Do"

How many books can you write about being short and crashing cars?
Drumchapel@reddit
Crash a new car, write a new book.
bobj33@reddit
Is that the book that James May used to turn into toilet paper in Man Lab?

I'll wait for the follow up. "Hamster to Buttons: The Bastards Were Right!"

Does hampster come out in this book?
ArgonWilde@reddit
Why is there a sticker over it?
Supercharged-Cherry@reddit
Maybe to preserve it? Or more likely they thought it was just a random squiggle and didn’t realise what they actually had!
signmeupnot@reddit
More likely??

Unfortunately, I also couldn’t find an answer to what that white sticker on the signature is supposed to mean. Maybe the idea was to protect the signature from wear or damage. But hey, it’s signed. For 3… in words, THREE euros!!1! 😃 What an amazing find!?
ArgonWilde@reddit
So long as it's not a printed signature and is in every book 🫣
cougieuk@reddit
It does look a lot like his signature but not identical so that's good.
lingenfelter22@reddit
My copy doesn't have a signature therw

There's probably a way to loosen the adhesive with a small amount of heat.

Reminded me of "Stroll is edging, edging, edging"

They sometimes place paper over the signature so it isn't damaged or smudged, it had one with a 1/2 page of what seemed like tracing paper over the signature . It came away cleanly, but that looks like its staying put.
Boundish91@reddit
Sucks that they taped over the signature.
