Is, missing the days when the internet was "just for fun", primarily a xennial thing?

I miss the time I only got on the internet to have fun. For me, I feel like that ended with Y2k. I was fortunate to learn about computers with Oregon Trail and 5.25 floppys, and computer science classes were still optional. The internet was fast enough to do whatever I could think of, and I had no requirements to get online for anything. It was developed by/for the government, military and educational systems. Therefore, too much older than me and your first use of the internet was not fun. How far into Millennials does this stretch? If you feel like it use to just be fun, when did that end? It would seem to me today it's almost impossible to achieve that level of detachment in 2025.
