Is, missing the days when the internet was "just for fun", primarily a xennial thing?

I think for most of us this is a case of "rosy retrospection". Some stuff was pretty cool back then, but really, being without the modern conveniences of the internet would have been tough. Most of us were in grade school/high school back then, so the internet was literally just all fun and games for us. But if we had been adults, I don't think we'd be remembering it so fondly. Having to make a phone call, or send physical mail, to do EVERYTHING. Need to check your bank account balance? Gotta call the number and use the automated phone system. Need to order something from a catalogue? Gotta flip through the pages of an actual goddamn catalog, fill out an order sheet with your credit card number on it, hope nobody opens it and steels the number, then wait 6-8 weeks to receive your order. Need to book a trip to Europe? Call your travel agent, pay 5 times as much money for your tickets, wait for your paper tickets to show up in the mail. Need to watch a video about fixing something on your car? Ha, yeah good luck with that, videos on the internet mostly didn't exist, and your dialup internet wouldn't be able to play them anyways. Most of the stuff we remember fondly about the internet back then still exists today - it's there for you to use it if you really wanted to, most of us just don't really want to because deep down inside, we all know it wasn't actually as great as we are trying to remember it being.
