Mouth guards for eating so you barely have to floss .

Why can't we have some type of very thin guards similar to the ones designed to stop teeth grinding that would prevent food from going between the teeth.
It would be thinner of course, and ideally made out of some compostable material so you can throw out when you are done eating.
I hate flossing.

I’ll see your crazy idea and raise you a better one: what about mouthguards that have floss positioned in between each tooth so you just put them in and take them out and you’re done?
The floss would be replaceable; you would wind it through things that looked sort of like this

You mean this?

Eating is important for the health of your teeth. When a person eats on one side only for any reason, a dentist will be able to see evidence of this due to plaque and tartar buildup being more obvious on the unused side.
jacobspp@reddit
ive been chewing on my left side for 5 years and my teeth do not touch on my left side when my mouth is natural closed

Having eaten with my inivisalign guide in, which is the closest to what you're talking about, there are several issues.
One: it feels really weird, and you don't have a good bite to break down tougher foods.
Two: there are a lot of foods you'd have to avoid because they'd break down the plastic.
Three: you'd have to replace them on a regular basis even if you avoid the foods that can break them down, which means spending money to have a mold taken and replicated, which is both unpleasant and not cheap.

Lol, talk to your dentist, there is a coating you can get for your teeth that basically do this.

I’m a dentist and no this is not a thing
quigongingerbreadman@reddit
You were saying my fake dentist pal...

jormor4@reddit
Sealants do not prevent food from getting in between the teeth. It has nothing to do with flossing.
quigongingerbreadman@reddit
That's why I said basically... For a dentist you sure have a lack of attention to detail.
Makes gaps between teeth smaller and easier to clean with a brush. Doesn't negate the need to floss, but does help not get as much food stuck between teeth where only floss can reach.
sun_bearer@reddit
No. Sealants go on top of the teeth, in the crevaces of the tooth surface, to prevent cavities from forming in those areas.
jormor4@reddit
No that is not correct. Sealants do not go im between the teeth at all. They only go on the chewing surfaces of molars and premolars.

Pardon me? Cement has been a thing for a very long time! :P
Round-Rabbit-2045@reddit
I coat my teeth in food so I won't have to brush or flosh. It hardens eventually and keeps them safe.

Ah, the "Al Bundy" approach to dental hygiene.
MyCatIsAnActualNinja@reddit
floss in the shower. it's way better
JackYoMeme@reddit
What if you just swallowed a pill
NaiveZest@reddit
Get a water pick that is installed on the sink faucet or in the shower. You don’t have to mess with filling tanks or electric power.
renkifsto@reddit
*Localized electric power
NaiveZest@reddit
True but you can turn all the breakers off and it still works. :)

If you hate flossing, just wait till you get into denture care! It’s a whole new ballgame in terms of required maintenance and expensive replacements
TheStateToday@reddit (OP)
I always imagined dentures being easier to maintain
igotshadowbaned@reddit
A thinner material that's strong enough to not tear while you're chewing it, and rigid enough to still be able to tear food.
And fits your teeth well enough to stay on and not create problems

Easy…titanium mouth guard!
Nothing can go wrong

Grill grills.
renkifsto@reddit
Let’s just get rid of all our teeth and seal up the gums, use removable implants which you can take out and soak overnight
Indigo-Waterfall@reddit
If anything that would cause you to need to floss more
The_Troyminator@reddit
If you hate flossing, you’re going to hate having a mouth guard in your mouth.
iWillRe1gn@reddit
What if it was like flint lockwood's spray on shoes but with your teeth?
XROOR@reddit
I bought a water pik that power washes my gum line.
Since I started taking better care of my teeth, many depressive thoughts have subsided
AlrightyAlmighty@reddit
My depression lifts after a professional dental cleaning, nothing quite like it

Floss isn’t for food, that’s just a byproduct. Floss is for removing the bacteria film on your teeth so it doesn’t lead to plaque.
Ok-Squash8044@reddit
Just use a blender and straw for your food. Worked for me when I had a broken jaw.
FortWendy69@reddit
Just don’t floss
Jugales@reddit
Here is a secret: most people don’t floss regardless
