TL;DR: I’m mostly looking for something cool and classic I can CCW on occasion. No super strong brand loyalty but leaning toward Colt or Springfield.

I’m still researching, but I know a Colt 70 series Govt. model is the actual Magnum PI gun, and that an 80 series that looks almost identical would be safer for carry, though with a less good trigger? Recently missed a used Springfield 1911 Mil Spec on GunBroker but I’d be open to a Springfield Loaded model too. I’ve owned and sold a Kimber that I liked, and I know they mostly have the firing pin safety hitched to the grip safety instead of the trigger, but I’ve read a lot regarding reliability being very hit or miss with them. I like Novak sights and am not very worried about light or optic mounting since it’d be a special occasion CCW if that
