Too good to be true?

I defaulted on my $40,000 Earnest loan back in January of 2023. I received mail and calls for ages but at some point they just went away. Today I was looking at my Credit Karma and it showed my open accounts and it said nothing about my Earnest loan. I decided to login to the Earnest website for the first time in ages to find this. What can you make of it? After it goes to collections does it show up on the website as paid? My credit score has been steadily increasing since the bomb of defaulting.

How many years is your SOL ? Personally, I would not have logged into that student loan account, but it does seem like it has been defaulted if it's not on your credit report and nobody has contacted you and you have passed SOL .

If it’s a true private student debt then it’s subjected to debt collection prices and statue of limitations. Good to know your consumer rights and legal processes about this.

It’s because they sold it to a collection agency. The collection agency will probably reach out and if they cannot get in touch with you, they may serve you with papers to sue.
