Genuinely confused by the “good”s in the comments. Could someone explain these responses to someone from another country?

It’s my understanding that breaks in the supply chain (including goods from Europe currently not being shipped) will increase costs and lower production for a large number of US businesses and manufacturers. And that the increased US tariffs are the responsibility (again) of importing US businesses, which costs are ultimately passed on to the consumer through increased prices. That’s pretty basic economics unless I’ve missed something?

Are US citizens just happy and wealthy enough to pay more? Or happy to do without because that’s where this seems to be heading….

IDK that I'd call it "good" for us Americans, but I do think these kinds of large-scale responses to American stupidity will help people learn how globalism actually works (to everyone's benefit), and how the US doesn't have the soft power to unilaterally dictate trade terms with the rest of the world.

The sooner they figure it out the better, because the US currently is hell-bent on destroying its economy and de-industrializing.

Check the alt right news channels and you’ll see that’s not the case. They are being fed that this is an attack on America and it’s time for us to retaliate and prot3ct ourselves and way of life, even if it means tightening the belts temporarily. Combined with them been told over and over again that prices are actually going down despite the clear obvious lie, they just won’t learn.

Plus it can all be traced back to that time Obama wore a tan suite, so again, we need trump to save us.

Not if you are a fan of harm reduction for people who use drugs.

Let me kinda give a very very ELI5 explanation of how drugs like, let's say MDMA, come to the US.

So most of the MDMA we enjoy here in the US. Whether it be pressed pills, purple MDMA rock, champagne MDMA rock or capsules with MDMA in them mostly come directly from the Netherlands.

So now what will most likely happen is two things.

Suppliers here will either have the MDMA sent to Canada then bring it into the US. Which is probably the safest option but will lead to a markup.

Or

MDMA will be shipped to South and Central America then go from there into the US. Now when it goes that route the likelihood of it going through the cartels gets higher and the likelihood of it being cut with something goes higher.

Personally I could see pure MDMA getting a massive increase in price. Then the pressed pills that are cheaper being cut with meth to offset the higher import costs.

Now I don't know if you've ever had a pressed MDMA pill cut with meth. It's not a fun roll at all. A pure MDMA roll is around 6 to 8 hours of euphoria. Whereas a pill with a 70/30 MDMA and meth ratio is about 5 hours of euphoria with 5 to 8 hours of feeling methed out.

Note that this example represents a very small % of the amount drugs sent to the US compared to life supporting Rx meds and supplements that are sent to the US.

India stopped shipments to the US on the 23rd. For those of you in the US who depend on Indian sources for Rx meds and/or supplements, you might consider trying to find US options (good luck!) and/or rationing your use of them to the degree possible.

One source in India estimates it will take at minimum 2 weeks to restart shipments and that assumes the alignment of many government and institutional "gates". Could be MUCH longer.

Yet another example of the "if you voted for Trump, yes, you voted for this" reality.
