Smoke & Pepper

I've been there a few times now and have really enjoyed the food, so thought I'd give it a shout out. I first went there as a result of a recommendation on this sub and had the flying dutchman burger. It's a burger with no bun, but they provide gloves, and it's held together with two caramelised onions. That was a 10/10 and I also had it on my next visit! A few days later I tried their pulled lamb burger, but it had jalapeños in it and I didn't really feel the two went together, 7/10. Next was their brisket loaded fries, which were also 10/10 and on my latest visit I had the Angus loaded fries 8/10.
The prices are comparable to other places you can eat in Midsummer Place and I was expecting them to be a bit higher to be honest.
If you haven't tried any of their food yet and you like something that's full of flavour, try it out!

Thanks for this - I saw the menu and it looks very good pricewise for that location, so have been meaning to try out the food there. Thanks for the extra motivation - will definitely drop by there next week!

The flying dutchman is the best burger I've ever had!

Oh man, thank you for the recommendation. Went there today - it was super busy, long wait but the food was well worth it. Ordered flying dutchman, algerian wings, rice bowl and brisket loaded fries. Loved everything about the meal, so we will be back very soon!

Just had the Algerian wings. They're a bit small but banging flavour! 9.5/10
£9.50 for those and sweet potato fries. Excellent price!

Oh really? When I went there on Sat the wings were massive.
Going to try Korean wings this Thursday!

I've just been there and had the wings again and they were much bigger than before, but they absolutely smother them in Algerian sauce which I don't feel is necessary 😂😂😂😂
kdnguyendl@reddit
Hahah yes absolutely, the wings were loaded with the sauce, which was unnecessary. My favourite are Algerian and Korean sauce!
Notagelding@reddit (OP)
I've probably been there ten times since it opened now, maybe more! I used some of the sauce for my fries but there was still some left over afterwards! I'll be getting the Korean sauce next time, for sure!

I could have stripped one in a mouthful if I wanted but decided to savour them in two 😂
Still can't think of anywhere that has better wings though, especially with that sauce!

Glad you loved it! They are gonna need a bigger premises because I imagine in can only seat about 40 people, if that!
kdnguyendl@reddit
Yes I had to wait 45 minutes today + 25 mins waiting for food, but it was totally worth it. I hope they do well enough so they can move to a much bigger place!

It is a chain, so maybe they'll open another branch somewhere? I wouldn't have waited that long but I guess it is Saturday so it's to be expected

Don’t really understand the hype. Food is below average and most the people talking about it seem to be paid influencers
Notagelding@reddit (OP)
Below average? Really? What sort of places do you prefer eating at then?
Classic_Peasant@reddit
Don't people normally claim these are paid ads?
Notagelding@reddit (OP)
Definitely not paid, just somewhere I like and appreciate!

Tried this also, burgers were lovely and the loaded fried are crazy large portions, had to share them with someone else
majorpickle01@reddit
loaded fries these days seem to always be a full main meal lol

Another burger franchise reheating frozen food. Joy.

I'm sorry that not everything matches your culinary preferences!
Would like to know what you consider to be frozen here?

I really liked their dyno bites and the Flying Dutchman!! They ran out of brisket so couldn’t try the loaded fries!
Notagelding@reddit (OP)
I was there a few days ago and had the last of the brisket 😂 They didn't have any today either but I was already having the Angus loaded fries, they just happened to mention to me they had no brisket. One of the staff there keeps raving about the Algerian wings so I might give them a go next!
im-a-massive-failure@reddit
Oooo I love Algerian sauce so defo need to try the wings!! Add dyno bites to the list of things you need to try!
Notagelding@reddit (OP)
I didng even know there was an Algerian sauce! Need to Google it 😂
