Still no eq it seems. Read while ago eq is on roadmap, but could be remembering that wrong. With equalizer it would compete as best Foobar clone with Deadbeef.
It’s on the roadmap, but won’t be implemented for a while yet.
The current focus is on polishing the existing features and adding preliminary DSP support, since the equalizer will require similar non-trivial changes to the playback engine. That said, development is picking up again, so early 2026 is a realistic target.
Any chance of getting themes at some point? I would love something similar to the EOLE theme for foobar (looked similar to Musicbee), in which you can browse by album art and a track list drops down when you click each album.
Hello, just wanted to say thank you so much for working on this project. As much as I love foobar, I'm finding that you've made a few things even easier, such as the waveform seekbar and built in lyrics support. Absolutely fantastic.
I saw that File Conversions were on the roadmap, which I'm excited about. My personal wishlist would also include an option to prefer embedded album art over local files, and (this is probably a huge lift and patently ridiculous) a way to use Milkdrop viz files, like the Shpeck plugin does in Foobar.
Glad to hear development will be moving forward. Is there a way I can support this project? I didn't see anything on git or the project home page.
Well on Linux having the EQ on a player is in my opinion not that necessary. You can EQ with EasyEffects and then have Gnome extension or a KDE widget switch between profiles or turning it off.
I personally prefer that a music app has an eq. But thanks for EasyEffects tip. Will try that out later when home. Currently using/trying in Linux music apps Lollypop, Sayonara and Quod Libet. Sayonara seems most like Musicbee, my favorite music app of all time, unfortunately no Linux version.
I use fooyin now for several weeks. Yes, there is a learning curve but I can not be happier with this player. I have a huge "classical" Library and fooyin deliviers nearly everything I need. I dont care about visualisation. I want to hear music and I enjoy finding my stuff so quickly. I used nearly every player that is around for Linux, but this one beats everything.
This fooyin thing is amazing!!! Finally I threw away strawberry deadbeef and all that stuff, finally home with this. Thanks a lot to all contributors and developers ♥️
It would make sense if, in such a case, you not only mentioned that you are getting dependency errors, but also specified exactly which ones.
I suspect it is about https://github.com/fooyin/fooyin/issues/498. The developer has already changed the code to fix it. So either wait until a new version is released or compile fooyin yourself.
You are correct, it would have been better to give details, but I tested Trixie and Fooyin in a virtual machine a couple of days ago and no longer have access to it.
Good to see it's been fixed. Thanks for the heads up.

How difficult would it be to have something like this OpenLyrics foobar2000 plugin on fooyin? The source code is available.
It 'only' needs to be ported over. Would that be straightforward, or next to impossible?

Just did the same. Fooyin is so fast at loading my big library and is a pleasure to use. Just replaced Lollypop for me.

I love it. It's the first audio player on Linux that satisfies my need for a Foobar2000 alternative.

I get dependency errors when trying to install the trixie build on a fresh install of Debian 13.

Try the flatpak from flathub.

This is by far most foobar2000 alike music player if I am not mistaken, which I appreciate.
