I would like to refuse the "turn your head and cough" portion of my physical exam tomorrow. Any advice?

In short, my employer is requiring me to take a physical exam tomorrow, which may "require" the doctor to place his hand on my testicles while asking me to "turn my head and cough" -- apparently this is still fairly standard. (Is it?)

That said, if asked, I plan on refusing the request. It's far too invasive for my liking. (I don't think I should have to have my genitals touched in order to gain employment).

That said, does anyone happen to have any advice for me? (I'm wondering if refusing this portion of the physical will cause me to "fail" the physical itself). Any tips?

So calm down. They're going to take your blood pressure, check your eye sight... if they want to put their fingers up your butt you can say no. The employer can also chose not to employ you.

Welcome to freedom. They can fire you for wearing the wrong color socks on Thursday if they want to.

At will employment is a wonderful thing. You can tell them to F off just like they can tell you the same.

99.9% of the time no one will stick their finger in your butt for a work physical.
