What app do people use at car boots to check sale prices?

Hi all, thank you for looking at my post. I am looking into heading to car boot sales to try and turn some profits to help with savings.
Does anyone know what app people use to scan items at car boots to view previous sale prices on eBay etc?
Thank you in advance!

My partner and I have been doing this recently. Even though many people arrive early, we still tend to find items that sell well — vintage toys, electronics, clothing, even the occasional collectible — and it’s been a good way to build a side income alongside our regular jobs.
I’d recommend using Google Lens to identify items. You can also use the CEX app for checking game prices (I personally avoid doing this in front of sellers as it feels a bit disrespectful), and the built‑in photo tools on eBay or Vinted can help too.
Google Lens is definitely the most useful. I rarely scan items openly when I’m there; instead, I look at something and think, “Okay, this is £2 — on Vinted or eBay second‑hand it should sell for around £X.” Scanning right in front of the seller can come across as disrespectful, so I try to be discreet.
At the end of the day, everyone benefits: the seller gets money for something they no longer need, you get an item you can resell for a profit, and the buyer gets it for much cheaper than buying brand new. All parties win.
A good example is a Buzz Lightyear toy my partner picked up for £2. You don’t even need to check recent sold listings to know it will sell for a profit — sometimes a bit of logical thinking is enough. But it’s still usually best to check past sold prices and see how much people currently have similar items listed for.

Is that a thing that people do?

It is, to the extent that it's very rare to find anything good at a boot sale any more, so OP might be disappointed if (s)he tries to join the other resellers.

The good things exist but you need to go early and pay extra to get them. My local boot sale starts at 9 but, they let traders pay extra to come in at 7 to buy up all the good stuff. If you'll turn up at 9 then you'll see them on their way out pulling trolleys loaded up with Amiga computers, Vintage HiFi equipment and designer clothes leaving all the tat for everybody else.

This explains why whenever I feel the need to ~~whack myself in the nuts with a spiky bat~~ go to a bootfair I'm left wondering why everyone didn't just go to the tip to get rid of their shit.

People also do it at charity shops, people only buy things now if they and sell it on and turn a profit.

In relation to this, I’m not looking to make a fortune. I’m just looking into this as more of a side project for a bit of fun and to make some extra money to put into my kids savings.

If they buy it from you then they can see and handle what they're buying. If they tell you they can get it cheaper on eBay then your answer is to tell them to go away and buy it off eBay.

The early doors crew will have already bought anything worth buying for resale before you get their.
Without you personally have very good knowledge of very specific collectables or antiques your not going to make any money on car boots once you factor in your time and effort.

And often the "early doors crew" is the other sellers, so even at the buyer entry time, the good stuff might be gone already. One prolific video game reseller in my area keeps his car locked up at the start of the sale and goes round all the other stalls looking for stuff to resell before he starts selling.

Ebay completed listings
Vinted will give you a realistic idea if people are trying to punt off the same piece of clothing for next to nothing either
