How would something like this fair after three or four mags of continuous fire? I would imagine all that heat can’t be good for something that’s essentially bolted on to the end of your gun

As an aside, this issue has a column on field expedient night sights like chalk or white string, although they didn't mention the classic white handkerchief on the end of the barrel. It ends by mentioning the Aimpoint and Armson O.E.G. sights are being used in El Salvador in very small numbers and have positive feedback in night combat.
