What's happening in DC is unfortunate, but also the most realistic solution for addressing the rampant crime since the municipal government has no interest in enforcing the law. Had DC's leaders kept their shit together, this would not have been necessary.

Maybe he should send the NG to Memphis too, but DC specifically is in the domain of federal control and thus clearly an appropriate place to use federal resources. The DC municipal government doesn't even intrinsically have sovereignty beyond what the federal government gives it; it is literally in the Constitution that DC is under the exclusive jurisdiction of the government, and the current city government is still subject to federal control under the law which allowed its creation.

How do you think curfews work? The government has to put up checkpoints and have agents partol the entire city constantly. Even if it is just for minors, how do you verify if someone is a minor or not? By checking ID cards.

The difference is that the Covid regulations had essentially no legal basis, whereas DC is a federal district per the Constitution and has no inherent right to a municipal government. Conservatives don't have a problem with using government power, in and of itself; it's just a question of whether the action falls within the scope of the authority outlined by the Constitution. If Biden did what Trump is doing now, I would have been confused at him taking street crime seriously but otherwise pleased, because DC is purely under federal jurisdiction.

Even though conservative states and cities exist with worse crime rates than LA and DC those dont get targeted, this is so very clearly a political move with these national guard activations targeting specific places. Its not about crime, it never was, otherwise the national guard should have been activated in Louisiana, Oklahoma, Mississippi, and Alabama first if crime was the real motivator.Ā

Are Louisiana, Oklahoma, etc. either under direct federal control or actively interfering in enforcement of federal law? No, so their situations fall outside the scope of federal enforcement. I'm sure Trump would love to crack down on crime in those cities too, but it's not explicitly the federal government's business right now. At the end of the day, you're so conditioned to sympathize with petty thugs that you think any form of real law enforcement is fascism. You're the person who I actually was describing in my previous post about being a crime apologist; just another standard issue shitlib who doesn't have the balls to even conceive of someone else taking a stand and laying down the law, let alone take on the responsibility yourself.

I don't live in DC so I'm not clear on exactly what they're doing.
I looked up your claims:
Whether the checkpoint was related to the crackdown or not, please be sane enough to recognize why calling a single checkpoint in a single city for a single night "fascism" is deceitful and not comparable to the pandemic.
You can only turn the DC crackdown into this awful authoritarian thing through distortion and hyperbole about what's happening.
During the pandemic people actually were curfewed in their homes for months to a year all throughout the US. That's not a distortion or hyperbole.
The difference in scale between these things means they aren't even comparable. The fact is most people's lives aren't effected at all by the DC crackdown. They might complain more if their city was effected, we can't say for sure.
But what is certain is that victims of crime are tired of nothing being done because leftist DAs and leftist judges refuse to prosecute criminals effectively.
Conservatives are happy to hear someone is finally going to prosecute the crime the left has intentionally allowed to run rampant.
And don't quote me crime stats, never mind that we have proof DC was falsifying them, it doesn't matter how often crime is happening. What matters is that when it does happen it isn't prosecuted effectively.

sure. it's not just "cheap labor". it's that anyone with capital benefits when the value of labor goes down. the very rich benefit the most because their taxes don't noticeably increase. the people who benefit the least are the middle class because immigrants consume state and local resources like locusts jacking up the price of medical care by using emergency rooms as GP visits. They also increase the cost of law enforcement, and schooling since a lot of them take up resources meant for actual Americans with learning disabilities and squander them on ESL classes.
I get that the top 10k wealthiest people in the US benefit. And I get that all the needy brown people we're saddled with love the agreement. I don't understand why the rest of us need to go along with any of it.
Sure the rich started out as the only ones pushing for this but even bernie sanders, once stalwart of the American working family has surrendered. why? social justice. intersectionality. whatever other poison pill ideology turns normal working class white people against their own self interest.

Under fascism (I mean true fascism, not what left wingers today call fascism), the government structure would be a corporatist one. And I don't mean corporation, I mean corporatism. Like in Italy. The theory behind corporatism is that the state functions as a mediator between the classes, finding compromises between, for example, trade unions and factory owners. In practise this didn't work so well, and the elites were often favoured. But in theory they'd have less actual influence or power in a corporate structure, than in a democratic one. Because in a democratic structure they can simply use their money to buy elections, while making it appear as if they are free. While in a fascist, corporatist structure, when blatantly favoring the elites, like in fascist Italy, the people would immediately know they are being actively oppressed and disfavored, thus be disgruntled. A democratic structure enables them to excersice their power more covertly, than in a fascist corporate structure. Again, making it appear to be more free than it actually is. Which is why the claim, that billionaires are pro-fascism is false. They are pro-oligarchy/plutocracy. At least that's my theory.
