Florida’s AG Just Unconstitutionally Banned 7-OH — No Evidence, No Deaths, No Due Process
Posted by Desperate-Dog-3940@reddit | Libertarian | View on Reddit | 35 comments
Florida’s Attorney General has unilaterally scheduled 7-OH as a Schedule 1 narcotic — without a shred of credible evidence or legislative approval. This is a textbook case of government overreach and prohibition without due process.
Here’s what they won’t tell you: • The FDA’s own database shows that out of over 500,000,000 dosages taken, not a single person has died from 7-OH alone. • 7-OH does not cause respiratory depression, because it doesn’t activate the beta-arrestin pathway — the same pathway responsible for fatal overdoses from traditional opioids. • Millions use 7-OH to stay sober and off deadly street opioids. Since it became widely available, opioid overdose rates have dropped nearly 30% in areas where it’s accessible.
This ban will force people back onto dangerous, illicit drugs — and for what? A plant-derived substance that has saved lives and caused zero documented fatalities on its own?
Libertarians should be outraged: • No due process. • No evidence. • No respect for bodily autonomy. • A blatant example of the government deciding it owns your body.

You have a fundamental right to control your own body. End the War on Americans (who use drugs or value their rights.)

People were being tricked into getting hooked on this stuff. It was a huge problem. Should suicide pills be legal?
AltTooWell13@reddit
That’s absurd, nobody took this against their will. Also it’s moronic to compare it to suicide, it literally can’t kill you. 🤡
maxlight141@reddit
I was making 100K a year selling 7-OH. Gladly giving up the extra income to see this poison gone.
AltTooWell13@reddit
Yeah “poison” that can’t kill you, doesn’t have any health effects, and was helping people get off fent and subs. Also funny to find a pathological liar in the wild, you most likely live with your mom. 🤡
Terrible_Educator500@reddit
Prob works for big pharma. They were ticked off they weren’t getting their cut as usual. Seems about right.
rhodesdeep@reddit
Wtf are you even talking about.
Terrible_Educator500@reddit
Well this is a bunch of BS. It was in all the local shops just last week. I have chronic neck pain and even had artificial discs implanted in my neck in 2017. This was really helping my pain. Ticks me off bc it showed up as an advertisement on FB a couple months ago as “natural and legal” pain relief and that was why I tried it. I was taking it daily and having some relief. Then, they just up and ban it without telling anyone? I had heard rumblings of this being banned eventually, but I even researched the process and usually the public is able to make comments and then there is typically a 3-6 month time period before the product is banned. What the hell is going on with this overnight business? If I had known I would have went out and purchased a bunch to wean off of, while also supporting the local vape shops that are going to take a major hit financially from this overnight (1 day notice situation). They weren’t even given time to reduce the price to try and sell their inventory. Total crap. If they have to ban it then fine, but it was not right at all to do an emergency 1 night ban without notifying anyone. I have never heard of such a thing. Again, they could have handled this better. To me this reeks of big pharma not getting their cut. Also, where is the evidence of anyone actually dying from this stuff? I don’t think there is any. I do think there are thousands upon thousands of alcohol related deaths daily, but no one gives a crap about that. Just my two cents.
Scerpes@reddit
Why is this unconstitutional? It’s probably a horrible idea, but what constitutional provision does that violate?
Desperate-Dog-3940@reddit (OP)
Due Process (U.S. Const., 14th Amendment & Florida Const., Art. I, §9) The 14th Amendment prohibits the state from depriving any person of “life, liberty, or property” without due process of law. “Liberty” in this context includes the right to make personal health choices and be free from arbitrary criminalization. The AG unilaterally emergency scheduled it, which is only to be done when a substance is actually a public health hazard, ie bathsalts, fentanyl, but out of half a billion doses taken by people over the last 3 years not a single person has died. There is no health crisis, but because the AKA is losing millions and millions, they’ve been lobbying and spreading misinformation, but according to the FDA’s own database not a single person has died from solely 7-oh, and they’re down 5 known adverse effects, that’s pretty damn safe compared to most OVer the counter meds.
dratseb@reddit
I don’t know if you’ve noticed but the justice system treats the 14A like it’s suggestion and not Constitutional these days.
Desperate-Dog-3940@reddit (OP)
Right but it is constitutional and we can stop it, this whole ban 7-oh campaign has been started by Kratom companies because they don’t want you only buying 7oh. When you take kratom, 37% of the mitragyine turns into 7oh, which is just as much as just taking a 7oh tablet. Yet these law makers and the AG are purposely keep kratom legal, by making 1% caps
ServeSpecific9434@reddit
I think they should do it like they do sudafed and just limit the ampunt people can buy woth a national database because its safer but it is extremely addictive and too accessible
kratomlean@reddit
ive been feeling great even when i dont take 7oh. I barely get any withdrawals and take it daily. Now i can work a lot better it almost feels like a vitamin lol and people talking so much bs on reddit i wonder why they get so mad
Hot-Spirit8939@reddit
Perhaps if one is only dosing 5mg once or twice a day and while I agree less is more in some ways with 7oh most people taking this for pain are taking 50-500mg a day and the wds are extremely unpleasant I assure you.
kratomlean@reddit
thanks for the reply it really makes no sense making it illegal, so many people will probably die like you say and government just doesnt care. I really hope some miracle happens

It’s only been 24 hours, and Florida feels different. Yesterday morning, you could walk into a dozen smoke shops, supplement stores, or herbal clinics and buy 7-Hydroxymytraginine without a second glance. Now? It’s contraband — overnight, without debate, without warning.
The Attorney General’s office is calling it an “emergency measure,” claiming the compound is “dangerously addictive” and “a threat to public health.” But the speed of the ban — the way it slammed into law like a sledgehammer — feels rehearsed.
Already, whispers are moving through recovery clinics: Suboxone reps have been spotted handing out brochures, “welcoming” people who suddenly lost their alternative. One local counselor, who asked not to be named, said he got an email this morning from a RegenaPharm representative offering discount starter kits for “patients affected by the ban.” The kicker? The email was timestamped 3:12 AM — just 42 minutes after the Attorney General’s official press release.
That’s no coincidence.
Dig into the state lobbying registry and you’ll find that RegenaPharm’s lobbyists met with senior AG staff six times in the past month. The same company manufactures Suboxone, the very drug now poised to replace 7OH for anyone desperate enough to avoid withdrawal.
No one in the government is saying who pushed the ban through, or why it bypassed public comment. But the timing is too clean: 7OH gone, Suboxone pipelines wide open, and the people caught in the middle now funneled into a treatment plan that costs hundreds a month — indefinitely.
Right now, it’s chaos in the community. Users are scrambling to find old stock, store owners are pulling products off shelves under threat of arrest, and the AG’s office is doubling down on their “dangerous drug” narrative. Meanwhile, RegenaPharm’s stock price has already ticked upward before noon.
Florida woke up today missing something. And it’s not just 7OH — it’s the choice that went with it.

Don't take that oxycodone and on your off days take 70H you will fail the next drug Panel test. Lol
SHY_TUCKER@reddit
7-OH is an opioid. The physical withdrawals are terrible and very dangerous. Yet, it's sold at gas stations in bottles that say "energizing green tea extract". As a a father, do I need to know every detail about every product in order to protect myself and my family? The energetic load upon a person who is a pure "libertarian" is unbearable for any normal person. If 7-OH should be legal, straight up heroin should be legal to market as "natural pain killer". Nuclear bombs should be available on Alibaba.
Desperate-Dog-3940@reddit (OP)
First of all 7-oh isn’t an opioid, it’s a partial opioid agonist, same as kratom. Second of all no it’s not sold in little bottles saying green tea extract. And third of all the withdrawal of regular Kratom is worse than 7-oh I know because I’ve done both. Infact alcohol has the single worst withdrawal of anything out there, it literally kills you during withdrawals, worse then fentanyl. You sit here saying it’s dangerous, except it’s not. It has not caused a single fatality on its own. And the 3 people who died with it in there system, also had a slew of other drugs in there system like fentanyl. You say herion should be legal? You can honestly believe that 7-oh isn’t comparable to heroin? . Overdose rates went down 30% the last two years because of 7-oh. You cannot die from it. Do you have any idea how many people die from heroin? Drunk driving? Alcohol kills more, causes deadly withdrawals, and is toxic to your liver, all things 7-oh doesn’t do.The fact that you think 7-oh is even comparable to heroin tells me you saw a new article saying “gas station heroin” that entire thing started because the AKA (American kratom association) has been losing millions to 7oh producers, so they’ve been attacking it with misinformation for months, Infact the CEO of feel free (kratom drink) is friends with RFK JR. I have pictures of you don’t believe me, they spread misinformation saying that 7-oh is a synthetic compound remade in a lab, and a bunch more. But it’s not 7-oh is natural in kratom, it’s the precursor to mitragyine, your liver turns it into 7-oh, all the companies do is oxidize the mitragyine into 7-oh, that way you don’t have to take the other alkaloids that cause side effects. I’m sorry for ranting but it’s a lot of information. I’d suggest you actually look into it, because the only reason they’re outlawing it is money, in the end of the day the AKA has been lobbying DC for a year to get this done.

Louder for the idiots ! You nailed it
Human_Day_2595@reddit
Also you dont know what your talkin bout
Human_Day_2595@reddit
Its the responsibility of the person whos consumes the product to do their own research and know what they put into their bodies, i shouldnt be punished bcuz other people consume whatever their given without a single question or thought in their head.
Separate-Ad-2876@reddit
"if withdrawals are terrible and very dangerous" why in the hell are making a million+ people withdrawal tonight? Overnight ban instead of a grace period is criminal. Protect yourself and your family then? As a father I'm sure you raised them not to buy it (have to be 21 but whatever). Protecting your family has nothing to do with people who are using it.
Your logic is comical. Are you a democrat?
d33jums@reddit
No but if you were around in the pain pill era, fuck anything adjacent to it. I can't speak against people who need oxy or percs but it's abused tenfold and this shit is just another one. Society wouldn't need laws if there weren't pos people out there.
Accomplished-Cat3324@reddit
How is it dangerous ? No one has ever died from Kratom . You talk about the terrible withdrawals and " might as well make heroin legal " but what do you think everyone going through those withdrawals is gonna buy to stop the discomfort.....HERION ..... prohibition always has and will always be a gift to the cartels and black market
rhodesdeep@reddit
What about alcohol 😂. You sound ignorant. It should be regulated.
Desperate-Dog-3940@reddit (OP)
It’s a natural alkaloid from the kratom plant, half a billion doses have been taken in the two years it’s been out, and not a single death form someone only on 7-oh. I get your concern, as a new father I’d be very concerned to if I thought my child was in danger, but the truth is they’re not. Sure some smoke shops sell 7-oh, but it’s behind counters where you need to show ID and be 21. I haven’t seen any gas stations that actually sell it, (the bottles people refer to are called feel free, it’s a kratom lava drink in a little glass bottle) that’s NOT 7-oh. But even there you need to show ID just like if you were to buy beer there.
Separate-Ad-2876@reddit
my FL shop had it pulled, boxes empty in glass case. Luckily, they helped me (and themselves) out anyway being a loyal customer and all; i spent every dollar i had lol and stocked 2400mg..
I'm prescribed a low dose of oxycodone and instead of giving me a dose that would actually give me something of my life back they treat me like its d r u g seeking behavior and seem to dismiss the fact i was hit by a semi truck 8x; my worst injuries can't be seen but they are head to toe. I have zero chance to hold down my responsibilites without pain medicine.
When, not IF, i run out of oxycodone_ 7-OH was a godsent lifesaver for me, I've been ecstatic ever since finding that it works on the same receptor and that my pain will be OK as long.. as I can afford it. But like a thief in the night, that 7OH relief is Over.
Anytime the Government says it's for our Safety.. it's not.. it's for profit &/ control. they overreached. This wasn"t for our safety, most likely for Big Pharma's bottom line. Schedule 1? but Zero deaths? Marketed to children yet you have to be 21? All lies. Should it be legal? Absolutely. Should it be regulated? Absolutely! Should it be this Easy to buy? Probably Not. But it shouldn't be Hard to buy either! I knew it wouldn't be "legal" for long, when i noticed it worked more effectively than my prescription, obviously Big Pharma Lobbyists would influence politicians to end it all.
I hope now they will do proper research on Actual health consequences (you know, like liver damage or medicine interactions) and get it back on the shelves ASAP or better yet- make it cheaper by mass producing it. I'd settle for prescriptions, since it would be cheaper, as long as you don't have to jump through hoops.
Poor businesses taking huge hits finanically and not given a grace period to sell their inventory.
Schedule 1 w/ an overnight ban is a joke based on zero tangible evidence. If they want it gone, so be it, we all get the argument. BUT give the citizens some notice.. the secondary & tertiary consequences can't be quantified. It's almost like they are inviting f e n t a n y l to florida, you betcha crime will go up as well as overdoses on other substances ppl turn to.
Poor people out there using 7-OH whether they use it for legitimate pain, recreational, or addicts. All given zero days to attempt a Taper? God Bless you All. May the Force be with you.
Desperate-Dog-3940@reddit (OP)
THANK YOU! I’m glad you understand, the truth is a lot of this started because The AKA spread misinformation because they were losing millions and millions, not a single person has every died but they say “for your safety” what a joke. It breaks my heart to think of the thousands that will most likely overdose and die, because they will now most likely turn to hard core drugs.
Hot-Spirit8939@reddit
Hand up
Hot-Spirit8939@reddit
My shipment is hemmed up and I'm a chronic pain haver that the medical field has declared is in need of pain meds but they can't rx them so I found 7s and it helped me live a somewhat productive life, now I'll be sick af in hours and will resort to any means necessary to get right. Fuck these fascists that will have blood on their hands directly die to this illegal action that is solely about money.
Hot-Spirit8939@reddit
This brash over step that is absolutely unconstitutional will lead directly to many deaths in the next days as people are forced to obtain illicit and actually dangerous drugs that they're too incompetent to do shit about. Gd fascists

If it's not for defense, most government actions are overreach
easterracing@reddit
Well yeah, without hard drugs there’s less petty crime to point to as rationale for more bloated police budgets and militarization.
