Nope. God gave us free will. God is not just "good", as a man would be good. He literally is what is good, he is it personified, to be good means to choose and be with him. To turn from him is to turn from goodness itself, it's not a punishment, it's a choice, it's taking a stick and shoving a stick into the wheel of a bicycle you're riding. Or to take a shotgun and pushing it into a curvature underneath the ground below until the metal bends and unitentionally aims at your rectum and you shoot yourself. It is to paint a realistic false tunnel on the side of a mountain, waiting to forget about it before crashing into it with your car. It is to like Jared Leto.
You don't know what that word means and should probably stop using it until you do. Omnipotence and omniactivity aren't the same thing. My toaster can make toast. It's not currently making toast. That doesn't mean it can't make toast.
I'm not going to debate with redditors. In fact, I used to have -100 comment karma from the debateanatheist subreddit. You appeal to mysticism in order to believe in gibberish, and feign using logic when it suits you.
free will cannot exist under an omnipotent creator god
anything you do is because the universe was made specifically so that you'd do that thing. this must be so, because god is perfect and knows everything. meaning he knew everything that would ever happen when he made this universe. he knew you'd be jerking off two dozen times a week until you die and made the world that way anyway.
if you create a robot designed to do jumping jacks, the robot is not doing jumping jacks out of its free will, even if it thinks it is. under an omnipotent creator god, you can only do exactly what you were designed to do.
if he didnt know, then hes not omnipotent.
if god made everything, then he is not just good. he must also be evil. the concepts must exist because he invented them. otherwise they wouldnt exist.
Every "logical" argument against God begins with the fallacy that God is subject to human logic or even understanding. The only people who make these arguments can't conceive of God as anything but a person with power, because their IQs are usually below September temperatures. These people can't comprehend their own existence, much less that of something much greater.
But god could just change that if he wanted to. And if he continues to keep all humans out of heaven because of Adam/Eves mistakes then he’s kind of endorsing generational punishment.
Could God change it, sure, but that would nullify free will. God owes us nothing, we consciously and deliberately separated ourselves from Him but even still have ways to go to heaven, which is why mercy is such a big part of the Christian religion as no man truly deserves entry to heaven.
On generational punishment, it’s not that we are all paying the price for eve’s mistake, I see it as a comment on human nature. Anyone in the garden of Eden would have succumbed to temptation and eaten the apple. Today, the “apple” is lust, pride, gluttony, any kind of sin.
Romans 8:7 - “Mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so”
if god in omnipotent, then he must know everything. this includes everything that would ever happen. meaning, when he made this universe, he knew everything you'd ever do in it. and, in fact, designed it specifically for you to do those things. in other words, you can only do exactly what you were made to do. from your perspective you may have the experience of free will, but everything you've done and are going to do is because you were made specifically to do those things and nothing else. because he knew what you'd do and made it so. if we are separated from him, it is because he designed us to separate from him.
That’s a widely debated topic leading to different denominations of Christianity, see: Calvinism vs Arminianism. We won’t get to the bottom of that here on Reddit.
The Pharisees demanded that Pontus Pilate execute Jesus. Pilate was like “uhh I don’t think this guy really did anything wrong” and asked the crowd if they were sure because he didn’t want a revolt in Judea and the Romans would allow them to choose a prisoner to release on Passover. The Jewish crowd said “nah, release that random bandit guy and make sure Jesus is dead, on Passover, one of our holiest days”
At least on 4chan there's no downvotes. I see dogshit religious takes on reddit all the time, and no matter how delicately you try to explain how ignorant their take is you'll get dogpiled. And I'm not even christian, I just hate reddit atheism
Yeah there’s no point in responding to the edgy atheists on here. Their comments are pretty funny though. Sort of how you’d expect an edgy trench coat wearing high school kid with no friends to form a sentence. Still, hivemind will just swoop in and you’ll have 500 responses all more retarded than the last.
There's generally no reason to discuss it. Politics and religion are two worst topics for a casual or online conversation, they're highly subjective, you can't change mind of your opponent on them, and both parties will be left unsatisfied. It's like dark souls fans having infinite shitthrowing sessions "discussing" which game is "the best".
God was created before we had microscopes to look in and telescopes to look out. We needed something to explain the unexplained. As far as we’ve looked inward and outward, as far as technology in all fields has advanced since the dawn of industry, we still don’t know all that much, therefore god will continue to exist as a means to satisfy our curiosities of the unknown or unknowable. Some people understand this so well, they weaponize it to control the masses.
Put simply, the powerful use religion to control the ignorant.
The will of God is to understand sacrifice. His death was inexorable by the free will of the Jewish leadership because of humans being riddled with sin.
They blame the Jews and Romans because they don’t understand that, if they found themselves in that story, they either would either be among the crowd calling for Christ’s death or they would be like Peter, cowering and weeping.
Anyone who tells you they certainly would take up a cross alongside Christ that day to meet his end with him is a liar.

In Judaism, the destruction of a temple and attacking a rabbi is an extreme transgression, especially near passover.
Jesus was correct about renting the temple space to merchants being a serious sin, but his violence within the temple wasn't very taboo too.
Romans were so religiously tolerant that they enforced capital punishment against blasphemy of their occupied regions to keep the peace.
