Is Trump's D.C. Policing Doing Anything?

"Last night, a somewhat predictable scene broke out between Homeland Security officers doing a traffic checkpoint at 14th and W streets NW and protesters, who shouted, 'Go home, fascists."

I'm fairly sure this whole thing is more to do with positing pieces on the chess board to spring into action against any protests that break out when we start another war with Iran here in the next few months.

Or in response to whatever bat shit crazy thing that comes out of the meeting with Putin
Mead_and_You@reddit
Nothing is going to come out of that meeting. Nothing really can when Zelinski isn't their to accept any agreements.
It's not even very likely for Putin to agree to a temporary ceasefire till a meeting with Zelinski can be made since Russia is currently gaining ground at the best rate they have this whole time, and he's not gonna risk halting that momentum and giving Ukraine time to regroup when there is a decent chance Zelinski is going to reject the deal anyway.

Do you really think they are planning ahead more than 24 hours?

I didn’t think about it like this. Now that I have, I don’t really like the arc of that story. Wag the Dog X 1,000
Mead_and_You@reddit
Yeah, the most concerning aspect of this administration to me is it's fervant determination to silence critics of the United States' support for Israel.
Rubywantsin@reddit
Yes. Its starting his fascist regime. It all has to start somewhere. Coming to a city near you.
FranzTurdinand@reddit
Ok, please wake me up when the fascism starts.
Jammylegs@reddit
You’re both dumb. He’s using the courts and things to consolidate power. Suing companies and individuals. Taking bribes. It doesn’t matter what you think.
mello-t@reddit
They are catching sandwich assassins. Didn’t you see the video!?

Seems like government overreach to me and treading on inalienable rights of people, regardless of citizenship. If they are committing crimes, then they should account for those crimes, and that's a different matter.

Stop and frisk made New York safer the new mayor of San Francisco decided to enforce the laws it's been cleaned up. So yes if DC can't police themselves then let the feds do it because DC is a federal city.
Revolutionary_Rub_98@reddit
Sounds pretty antithetical to the ol’ “Don’t Tread on Me” ideology
riplan1911@reddit
I love the libertarian point of view but in big cities where there is civilization people need to be civil and respect laws. There are large tribes of people that don't and don't care about civilization. This situation has already been created. I'm talking about a fix for it not how I would create a situation or a libertarian unitopia. The real world is way different than commenting on Reddit just saying.

These people support this are more like, "thread on me harder, daddy!".
More accurately they are fine with threading on their enemies.

Bootlicker says what?
PlatinumBallSack@reddit
Wish they'd arrest DC cops and politicians for violating people's 2nd amendment rights instead
tipsup@reddit
It doesn't matter if it is, or isn't doing anything.
It's conditioning the community to expect Federal intervention in anything.
BodisBomas@reddit
Yeah, I read "traffic checkpoint" and immediately was disgusted. Even worse if the feds are doing it.
PhilRubdiez@reddit
They’ve been doing that for decades. Sometimes military (Little Rock), but mostly the bureaucracy (Flint water). People don’t understand federalism anymore. Go ask 20 of your friends, I’d be shocked if more than one knew what it was.

It made the Governor of NM, MLG, activate her National Guard to help out a city in northern NM.

Arresting veterans? 🤷
