Had my first ride in the rain, very unprepared.

Rode my bike to work yesterday. Had shorts, a hoodie, and a baseball cap under my helmet. That sh*t sucks going 25+ while pouring rain.
What gear do you bring incase of rain? i feel like a cheap poncho just wont cut it. I do bring a backpack to carry stuff but it also holds my battery, as well as some tools.
Also im worried about leaving my bike out in the rain with the battery holder exposed, do they make covers to go on top of it? TIA!

My ebike has fenders. I only worry about keeping water off of my upper body. So I have a waterproof riding jacket. I made a long visor for my helmet that helps keep rain off of my glasses. I remind myself that human beans are water resistant.
I live in the desert southwest and only deal with rain occasionally. If I had to deal with it regularly, I'd probably to to more trouble to keep my legs, feet and hands dry.

over trousers and foldable rain jacket.
In the winter I wear a warm waterproof coat. You will definitely need a warm pair of gloves for winter too depending how cold it gets where you live.
I find mud guards are essential too.

Clothes can't get wet if you're nude.

No pics please.

Patagonia Torrentshell jacket and pants. There is simply no equal. They kept me dry in a freakin' hurricane in the Philippines last year. I'm talking 100 mph winds - and rain going sideways.
For a cover: Geza Gear. Waterproof, packable, stretch material and custom built to fit your bike. Sublime.

You can buy a motorcycle cover and cover the whole bike, potentially.

I have jackets and pants. I wear a face mask as there's a lot of pigeon pooh about and when wet, the bike flicks it up towards my face.

I use a vinyl poncho with pants, bring dry shoes and socks, and sunglasses to keep the water out of my eyes.

Honestly just bring a change of clothes and a plastic bag for the wet ones
Proxy345@reddit
I bring nothing because fat tires barely skid. I only wear shorts and a t-shirt.

I've never felt super compelled to wear any rain gear. I have a helmet with a pair of goggles. The shields my eyes from you know getting assaulted by rain drops. You want to make sure your grips have a texture that doesn't become a problem when wet and the same with your choice of pedals.
I wouldn't suggest a poncho or anything similarly billowy. You ever see a bat or a flying squirrel glide? You don't want to turn yourself into a human kite. If you are that concerned about it find yourself a light reasonably form fitting wind breaker with a hood that's wide enough to fit on over your helmet and do that. Keep in mind that this is going to block your helmets vents and it'll get hot pretty quickly.

I suggest you buy a frog tog rain suit. I always carry them in my saddle bags.

As someone from the UK where it can rain at any moment...i like windbreaker style jackets, light and waterproof plus doesn't take up much room in your backpack.

I got a full face motorcycle helmet for 3 main reasons:
Safety in an accident. Ebike accidents at speed are more like a motorcycle accident than a bicycle accident. My aunt's that are nurses recommended a full face helmet for me.
Keeping my face warm in the winter.
Keeping the rain off and my head dry.
A rain jacket of nearly any kind will keep you dry. A poncho that has no pit zips you will not be able to let your sweat out. You'll be as wet as you would've been from the rain. Get something that is breathable with pit zips. I like the Antigravity gear ultralight rain jacket. Rain pants are also recommended.
I would bring a spare change of shoes and socks as well. It's not fun spending all day at work in soaking wet socks and boots.
If your bike is of any sort of basic quality it can withstand the rain. If you're concerned, find a way to secure a trash bag around the parts you're concerned about. As an additional note, a small hand towel is a good idea to wipe off the saddle before you ride so your butt isn't wet.

I do plan on getting a full face, just using my snowboard helmet for now. Plan on using most of my snow gear during the winter time cause i will be riding it then too.
It is a chinese dropship bike (happyrun g60 pro), they claim ip54 rating which is dust and "splash" resistant. So prolonged exposure to the elements is probably no bueno.
My plan was if stuff ever were to break, id be replacing with parts from Grin Tech.

full motoorcycle helmet and a full body rainsuit

In the summer, wear light quick-dry clothes and just get wet. Unless it's cold a rain jacket or poncho is going to be more annoying than the rain IMO. I wear a headband under my helmet to keep rain and sweat from running down into my eyes, and big cycling glasses with photochromic lenses to keep the rain (and bugs) out of my eyes. My pannier for clothes is waterproof so work clothes won't get wet.

I always keep a sandwich baggie & clip in my bag to keep my LCD dry when it's raining.

It's called staying as dry as you can, but probably slower speed, bibs are great with a jacket, ( bibs are great in the winter too )!! Goggles, any type of clear bag and different sizes for covering things up, depends how far you are going. Hands get wet then get cold, same with feet.
