The one thing I love about people is how short their memory is on purpose.
When 2016 election winner was announced reddit went down for 8 hours.
Normally you see on all, polotics, pics, law and all other "neutral" sounding sub is orange man bad and how other person good.
For 8 hours...it was quiet.
Normal comments. Like you and me talk irl. Even people pointing how how its friendly and no longer hostile, gocca, here is why orange bad HAHA comments appeared.
After 8 hours funding arrived for next 4 year propaganda, rinse repeat, 8 hour quiet after 2020.
Now reddit went public, RDDT public SEC filing showed in their Q3 quarterly earnings report how much democrat and tencent payes them.
Conspiracy sub was prepared for screenshots.
2024, 8 hours ALL bots stopped as the contract was up.
It was beautiful to see. No propaganda, no bots, just people. Even chatgpt cant replicate the way people write.
When 4 chan went down, few hours no bots. That's irl.
You got all these examples and people still cant see when a country is pushing propaganda with bots.
But please stay as is. As otherwise I have to get a real job and can't make money of people who are on purpose play dumb.
Correct. I can confirm that the day after election day 2016 in the US, it was actually possible to post non-leftist comments/articles in the politics subreddit. Basically, the mods and bot owners hadn't been given their new marching orders, and didn't know what to do.
2024, 8 hours ALL bots stopped as the contract was up.
This I cannot confirm, at least for the politics subreddit. But there is a limit to their powers. When one of the most upvoted posts on election night celebrates Kamala winning Washington DC, it's not hard to read between the lines.
