Which blinkers you got?

I'm thinking of replacing mine with something better. They don't last longer and I have to recharge them often. The mounting is not holding good either.

😂 Here in my area cars don't give a damn about hand signs when turning
FreedomX01@reddit
I got lumps bicycle lights and they act as turn signals and I like them because I got in total six on my bicycle to be visible on both sides
nathacof@reddit
Have you actually compared between the two? I feel like folks who don't care about hand signs probably don't care about bikes at all, and probably yell at you to ride on the sidewalk?
guitars_and_trains@reddit
It's 2025. Nobody is aware of hand signals. They think you're waving.
Superb_Raccoon@reddit
Oh, they care about some hand signals...
GlossyGecko@reddit
You need to know them to pass the driving test, the problem is that people just learn the road rules to pass for their license and then they immediately forget and start driving aggressively and refuse to even use their blinkers.
guitars_and_trains@reddit
Doesn't mean they remember or care.
GlossyGecko@reddit
They do when the cops are nearby, I’ve observed thst much.
guitars_and_trains@reddit
I've never seen a hand signal in real life.
Relative-Display-676@reddit
this, most people don't even use turn signal let alone know what hand signals are.
LordEmrich@reddit
I've used both. Having actual blinkers makes a HUGE difference. Hand signals requires the person in the car to know what those signals mean. Everyone knows what a turn signal is, though.
Atty_for_hire@reddit
This. I start my commute home at a traffic light. Opposite me is a stub road to a parking garage. 75% of them are turning left to get on the highway. I’m turning left to go along the River path. So I’m theory, we can both go when it’s green. I signal with my arms and it’s very hit or miss on the opposite car understanding I’m going left. Many of them need me to start moving and going left before they understand I’m headed left and can proceed.
Tailoxen@reddit
Oh they will give a damn if you point with the middle finger
Fair-Discipline-1005@reddit
The same is here where I am...
TEGHD1@reddit
I just turn
Voxicles@reddit
I’ve got the whole lumos firefly mini setup. Expensive, but work very well.
1sight1@reddit
I have Lumos system also and have been very happy with it and them.
Have had for over a year and have been using it weekly. I have 4 minis and a helmet.
Had an issue with one of the minis only holding a charge about 1/2 as long as the other 3. I emailed them and within hours had a shipping label for a replacement no questions asked. Offered to send the faulty one in but didn't need to.
As headlights I think they are a little lacking. I supplement with another light if I am going to be going out for a long night ride on a path I know isn't well lighted.
HustlerMind@reddit (OP)
Looks premium but costly
LordEmrich@reddit
It's worth it. $120 will get you all four of the mini lights. They can be used a headlighta, taillights and turn signals. Mine are set as only turn signal so I only have to charge it once a week.
There's also the Unit 1 Smart Light. I prefer the Lumos Firefly because you can put the lights on the corresponding side of the bike; whereas the Unit 1 light goes at the center of the bike.
Additional_Ad3320@reddit
None lol
Beneficial-Area2386@reddit
Just get a Velotric Discover 2 and your issue will be solved 😎
DJKaito@reddit
We do have the Busch & Müller ones at our store. - they were the first once available when they lifted the ban of blinkers here. Now we need to lift the ban of horns on bikes to get us legally save from cars...
ExtremeProfession113@reddit
In my state cyclists are required to used their hands to indicate a turn, only if safe. It is likely that lights would be illegal, since the state requires signals lights to be visible to vehicles in front (oncoming) and behind. There is no provision for bikes to have lights either, so if pretending to comply you really need to comply. This is why I’ve often viewed the lights as unsafe gimmicks more than anything else—creates a false sense of security—and for people in unclassed e-bikes a great way to make it harder to avoid a ticket if one is issued and others racked up. Want to act like a motorcycle get one, otherwise learn the ways of the bike Jedi. It really isn’t hard to signal when practicable and if a car is ever following me so close when I’m coming to a turn then I’ll be slowing down far more then normal and making sure I can give a quick signal.
speedhunter787@reddit
What's legal isn't always the most safe. A lot of people in today's day and age don't know how to read hand signals. Using turn signals also doesn't mean you can't also use your hand. You could use both to be compliant with the law as well as safe!
ExtremeProfession113@reddit
One of the better changes to some (think most at this point) state laws has been to do away with the stupid hand signals pivoting more to pointing left for left and right for right. I know when I’m driving I’m not looking for turn lights on a bike, but if I see then I’m now expecting brake lights as well. That said, sometimes I think even if we were bright glowing orbs idiot drivers wouldn’t see us.
Vloda@reddit
I use regular 12V-motorcycle ones with a control unit by Velorian (Berlin, Germany based). Works like a charm.
iH8MotherTeresa@reddit
You have any resources on booking that stuff up to share? It seems pretty easy stuff but I'm not sure where to start.
I've wanted to tap into my 12v system but even having been an electrician, I'm hesitant. I don't wanna blow up my electronics or battery?
Vloda@reddit
I run a 36V Bafang System.
Y-splitters (XT-60) for frontlight, backlight and indicators from same battery as the motor.
The lights are also German "Busch Mueller". Everything can handle about 9 - 50V.
So no headache.
If you need further infos, feel free to ask away!
japakapalapa@reddit
I've them on my Unit1 Aura helmet.
Excited_Biologist@reddit
Do you feel that it’s effective? Been considering that helmet
Cold-Committee-7719@reddit
I have a Lumos Ultra Ebike helmet that has turn signals built in.
Cultural-Victory3442@reddit
I'm almost sure that you can make ones yourself, blinking is not a complicated circuit. You just need a blinking relay and a lamp.
You can adapt the circuit from motorcycles, and get the power from a circuit you already have, like, the horn.
BlankBB@reddit
My setup is even easier - I used the "flowing"/sequential led turn signals and I dont have to use a relay at all. It is just 12v battery pack to signal switch to lights. I was originally planning to replace the battery pack to a direct wire to my bike battery but of course it became permanent and has lasted me a year before recharging.
Significant-Pen-6049@reddit
I had two sets of those and they are not reliable. I left them on or one would die and I would have no idea.
It’s silly but you can make your own with car or motorcycle components and hook up to a small 12v lithium pack that will last all summer
dariansdad@reddit
I bought a BMW bike so apparently the signals don't work anyway.
CrazyAd8690@reddit
Maybe you have to pay for a subscription!
Picasso5@reddit
I really think blinkers on bikes need an LED matrix with an animated arrow. Otherwise, there is no "spread" between the lights and it may just look like a blinking light to a car.
Just a single 2" x 4" led array, and it could act as a brake light and an animated turn signal.
iamBoard1117@reddit
ElricBrosPlumbing@reddit
none. they are too small and cars dont pay attention. I have neon orange and neon pink reflective gloves to indicate which way im going.
amzeo@reddit
Hands. Cars aren't expecting a turning signal on a bicycle so don't look. And most are too dim to do anything anyway
Ok-Character-1355@reddit
In a busy area electric turn signals on bikes are VERY ineffective in the real world. The physics makes the lights "all the same" L, R or center is indistinguishable in a car in rain, dark or busy conditions. Too close together!! Don't get me wrong, all bike lights are great but they sure as heck see you waving your arms even if they have no idea what you are saying!!
Cellist_Acceptable@reddit
My bike comes with front and rear turn signals that are hardwired into the battery.
Revolutionary-pawn@reddit
Blinkers? Ain’t got none lol
Fair-Discipline-1005@reddit
In all world car and the other drivers dont care at all for bike and motorcycles riders, like we dont exist... I cant imagine how is,like,in India...
HustlerMind@reddit (OP)
India would be much safer imo. Slow speed and plenty of riders around. Here in US it's definitely not. There are big cars with less visibility
Shouldadipped@reddit
I ride in the city alot but have also done some bike packing and i can say.. although it can be dangerous riding in congested areas there are more pedestrians.. scooters.. bikes etc.. the traffic is chaotic but moves slower... most scared riding experiences i have been is in rural roads with alot of truck traffic .. also a-lot driver fly down these rural roads due to route familiarity and are not watch ing for cyclists
MeanAvocada@reddit
It's not safer.
Fair-Discipline-1005@reddit
Thank You. There are riding all family on one motorcycle,crazy...😀👍
MeanAvocada@reddit
And they drive without paying attention to the law, they beep at others, throw trash on the road, etc.
Fair-Discipline-1005@reddit
I dont know how this function,at all...😀👍
radfordra1@reddit
I wired a 12v inverter into my battery and attached motorcycle LED strips to the front and back of the bike
vananhnguyen131@reddit
I got the ravemen nt101, it has some disconnection quirks but does the job for its price, also act as thief horn
Fair-Discipline-1005@reddit
For now, only hands work, left right... I dont know where put rear blinkers, I dont have ordinary seat tube, under seat is battery... Its very fat under seat...
TheSharpestHammer@reddit
I've got this one currently. Works pretty well all in all. I like the blinker noise, which is subtle but perceptible, and the horn is a nice feature.

HustlerMind@reddit (OP)
How long battery last? Mine drains in standby
TheSharpestHammer@reddit
Not sure exactly. I've had it out for 3-4 1-2 hour rides over the course of a week and it didn't run out of batteries, but I always charge it before it fully dies and I only use the blinker function and not the constant running light or "smart" brake light features.
