I test drove a car where someone was clearly buying cheap cars and fixing them up, which is fine.

Except that for this vehicle, they were being quite resourceful and 3d printed a new dash. Out of PLA.

The whole thing was a melted and mangled mess. They were on the right track, but didn't consider material properties and it was worse than if they didn't have a dash at all.

Cool! Reminds me of something Mercedes would think up, especially those side vents and the headlights and grille. Not sure about the pointy diffuser though, i doubt it would work with the overall round design of the car. But you can always change it after you’ve made them pointy!

Thanks. Yes, I designed and built the chassis too. I am using a Peugeot RD drivetrain, my budget is very limited. In fact the car is very lightweight, so a small engine can work very well.

I will use plexiglass for windshield, and I have a mold for it. Yes, I studied Industrial Design, and I designed the car for production, but I need a lot of sponsors and investors. I'm using drivetrain and parts from a Peugeot RD, because of my limited budget right now.

Truth be told... The market isn't there for a cloth bodied car. It was my intention to lower the carbon footprint of building a car to conserve energy. I was hoping for adoption in developing countries. That's why I used beetle components for the base.

Strangely enough... I didn't use CAD for this project. And I am a UX designer for Solid Edge software. How about that for irony? It was one of my "analog" projects that just get me away from my keyboard. Check out the other designs on my channel. Plenty of CAD models used and displayed.

I meant that why you don't build more cars. Yes, I understand your idea and I like it. You designed really good space-frame chassis, and I like your style in designing bodies. I've subscribed to your channel already. Lightweight cars with space-frame chassis have a good potential in the market. In fact lightweight cars will play huge role in the future. Now there is electric powertrains and also hydrogen combustion engines are coming. You have the ability to establish your own brand. Just see what people are doing with Exocars.

Ah... Well. I built that car in Alabama. They have very relaxed rules about what can be driven on public roads. That one was street legal.

I moved to California about 8 years ago. Far more rules and expense for everything here. And yeah...exocars (Ariel Atom) was the inspiration.

I have another design in mind. Perhaps during retirement.

I always enjoy seeing updates on this.

I think this is the first time I've seen the design sketches though. That helps me reconcile where you are with where you're going. I think once it has larger wheels/tires and the roof is on that the body proportions will make more sense to me. As it sits now the body has a cartoonish look to it. The sketches look good so I'm optimistic.
