Is the USB connector for the Keytronic E05351USIMM-C Keyboard supposed to look like this? I plugged it into my setup and it worked for like 2 seconds before farting out on me.

The connector looks correct based on the photos. It is not out of shape at all, and the pins appear clean enough to connect ground first, then the two data connections after full insertion.

What should i do to make it functional....

I don't know the answer to that. USB was meant to work on a variety of hardware, so I surprised it is not working. But, ChatGPT does have the following note:

I think you are downvoted because you didn't vet the results you got from AI before posting them.
The "legacy driver" in question, e05351.exe, doesn't exist from any legitimate source. It is a filename used by input-drivers.com and you cannot download the file; all download links on that site seem to instead install a "driver updater" executable.
Even if the driver exists/existed, It almost certainly would not be for basic functionality, that's just not how USB keyboards have ever worked. It would be to enable the various extra function keys that are above the F-key row.

Fair enough! I have thought I knew PCs, but with this sub, I am learning and dredging up memories.
I see the OP also updated and with the connector breaking apart, electrical fault could be another explanation for a quick disconnect. Anyways, will stay in lurker mode for now.

Hey just wanted to say you really shouldn‘t use AI for stuff like this. While USB is popular enough for it to get it right most of the times, there are lesser known old ports that AI will most likely get wrong

Never mind it fell apart and broke when i opened it, gonna just toss it and find a different vintage keyboard.
