A civilian-legal Lee-Enfield from India chambered in 8x50mmR Mannlicher used by a Burmese rebel in Mandalay Region. AKA the "IOF .315 Sporting Rifle"

.303 is still considered a common military cartridge in India, making it illegal for civilians to own. "Obscure" or "non-military" calibers such as Mannlicher, 30-06, or .32 ACP are legal.

So ugly

Damn 8x50 is still used?

India has a ban on ownership of any firearms in calibers used by the armed forces so guns have to be wierd/uncommon calibers
Pratt_@reddit
France did that for a while, though it was for at least all current military calibers but also past ones lmao
So we ended up with a lot of Lebel Mle 1886 M93 in random hunting calibers, fortunately this law was removed around 2012 iirc so a bunch of Lebel in 8mm were imported back to France since.

Wether it works or not, sounds a bit British to me

It found a little niche in the Indian civilian market. They had tooling to build Enfield rifles, but Indian civilians aren’t allowed to use .303. 8x50R was found to be an easy adaptation for the Enfield assembly line, and it is legal in India.

WOULD. I'm surprised Ishapore ain't making export versions. I'd pay for a newly made LE action in 7.62 NATO or something else[even if just in my local range's arsenal lol].
