Trip to Brasov, Romania

I want to spend Halloween in Brasov this year (for obvious reasons) and am planning a 4 day trip, however I’m having a bit of trouble with planning seeing as most low fare airplane companies only have the Bucharest airport available and I’m not sure if I can rely on public transport for the transfers.I tried looking for guided tours from Bucharest to Brasov but most of them are only daily tours and the ones that last at least 2 days are obvious tourist traps with inflated prices. Alternatively, I thought we could rent a car for the few days we’ll be in Romania but I can’t seem to find a reliable company (again, I’m guessing because I only find the tourist ones and not the good local ones which are most likely posted in Romanian). Do you reckon I should stay in Bucharest and move from there or find an airport closest to Brasov and spend my four days there?

You have a train from Otopeni tu Bucharest North, daily, multiple times. Then you could go by train to Brașov, using Regio Călători, or Astra Trans or Softrans. If you want to rent a car, use Eurocars.ro and rent from Autonom (great guys, good prices, great customer experience).

You have regular direct connections by coaches between Otopeni and Braşov. Not a problem to reach the city from the airport.

Brasov has an airport and practically all regular flights to it are operated by the low fare airline Wizzair.
Yes, you can. There are shuttles from Bucharest airport to downtown Brasov every hour, day and night. Their schedules can be found on autogari.ro
You can also travel by train, with a change at Bucuresti Nord station. See infofer.ro for timetables.
If you arrive during the week take a shuttle; if you arrive during the weekend take the train.
Ahaha, no, it's the other way around. There are no "good local ones"; small local car rental companies are generally rip offs. Use only large international ones.
You should stay in Brasov. Either fly directly to it or go there straight from Bucharest airport.

Bucharest - Brașov is easy by train. Take cab in Otopeni (mind the scalpers though) to Gara de Nord, hop on a train, that's it. You have on average one train every 2 to 3 hours.
Alternatively, fly to Sibiu and take a train or a bus to Brașov.
I don't rent cars, obviously, but there are international car rent companies present here. Or you could seek Autonom, a national big car rental company (not affiliated, not a recommendation because I never used them, I only know they exist).

You can just take a train from Bucharest to Brasov. It's a 2 hour trip with inter-regio.

There is a good train from Bucharest to Brasov. Good by Romanian standards that is.
