Churchill's chip shop in shenley - they do better burgers then half the burger specific places around. I'm not a fan of fish but whenever my partner has it it doesn't have that fish stink that most other places have. Their service is always great and if you use the app /website (my chippy) you get 20% off once a month
Also Bar + Block + it's a steakhouse in the city. It's in a weird place and part of a premier inn so people don't think of it as that nice of a place but id say its the best steak around. Much better then miller and carter. A bit on the pricey end but so worth it. I recommend getting the spiral cut ribeye
That might be part of it. But looking at companies house, it changed ownership a couple of times as it started going downhill. I would bet the new owners cocked it up.
I do recall seeing something about Deliveroo owing them money, but then it only turned out to be £50
Yeah the quality started to declaim considerably when new owners took overs. They thought they could skimp on quality but keep the same price. Plus they had some questionable business practices which have been eluded to which didn’t help. Shame, used to love their burgers & hotdogs.
Yeh I’m sure I heard it was justeat or something. But also, they had a staff member who was taking numbers from orders and texting people inappropriate things. Fairly certain it’s the owners son, proper creep. Can’t have helped business lol…
I used to work in Darin Court, right next to Percy’s. The original owners were a lovely couple, and their food was something special. When we moved to Willen Lake, it was sad to see things go downhill. Back then, he cooked everything to proper USA BBQ standards, and the chimichurri mayo was to die for.
I've never actually tried their Indian food. They always give me the Thai menu! Also, Purple Mango is far closer to me for Indian. My only gripe about Blue Orchid is the lack of discount for takeaway unless you spend over £50. It was reasonable when it was £20, but now they lose out as I no longer get takeaway there.
Veggie World in Bletchley. The food is insanely good. The reviews speak for themselves, but it generally goes relatively unnoticed.
It's a 100% vegan Chinese restaurant, the menu has mock meats / fish, tofu or solely vegetable dishes.
My friends and partner are neither veggie or vegan, but often join me ordering from there as the food is that good. In fact my other half said it's the best Chinese he's ever tasted, and he's a chef.
I urge everyone to try it at least once. It's has been on Queensway for over 20 years, but it's honestly a hidden gem in plain sight.
It's only open Thurs to Saturday 16:30 - 21:30..
You have to call in advance to book a collection slot to avoid disappointment.
And they only take cash.
Heading to Carrington tomorrow and looking forward to it! I had five akhis recently and it wasn’t as good as the past few times but I don’t think it travels well, was wishing I got Chunkeez instead that time.
Been to the carrington a few times and each times it's not lived up to expectations, from dry chicken, steak cooked well under to overly salty food. Its a shame as what they do get right is great.
Their scotch egg is really nice if that's your thing, looks like they have changed their menu since I last went but I had the marinated steak and peper sauce, both were really salty as was the fish dish my wife ordered but can't remember what that was, might just be luck of the draw tbh. I'd go back but perhaps I'd be more inclined to say something rather than do the usual British thing of not saying anything.
Eat Greek MK just because Greek cuisine has more than just gyros and souvlaki
Barista Culture best coffee in MK and fantastic cocktails with unique options that can’t be found anywhere else in MK.
Bucks Star Brewery Tap because beer & kombucha are also important and deserve their own hype! Pizza is also something that can float one’s boat, but might be too rustic for many and the stoped doing the egg and spinach one :(
It’s trying to be too much, trying to please too many people. It’s got the coffee/pastries at the front, it’s a takeaway pizzeria, it does a roast on a Sunday and now does very loud music in the car park for people only there to drink. Oh and it’s an Italian restaurant as well. The food is great but the vibe is bad.
I knew someone who worked there a few years back and it was quite a terrible working environment. The owners would argue with each other constantly during the working hours, and the atmosphere was quite bad. I had a bad meal there and it took ages to come out so I will never go back!
I talked a few friends from work into going there on banquet night, every one of us had a bad stomach the following day. It was enough to put me off going there ever again.
St Mary’s Chinese in Oxley Park used to be really good, but has gone downhill since it changed hands. Now go to Oodles in the City for my oriental food fix.
It's the most hyped place in MK, it gets mentioned multiple times in every single food question for Milton Keynes! If that ain't hyped absolutely no restaurant in MK is hyped lol.
Yeah the canteen style is certainly part of the charm
Ordered from there a few times, the first it was exceptional, unfortunately subsequent orders have been rather poor, mainly just really dry chicken, almost like they batch cook it the previous day then throw it in the sauce to order. However I will say that the range is good, its not your usual balti, jalfrezi etc etc and the tandoori chicken rap is rather excellent.
Man I had the same experience! Did it once a year ago and it was one of my best curries ever, tried twice since then and both times have been overpriced mid at best food. Maybe they sent their best chef to the xscape branch?
It's definitely worth trying. Staff are always very friendly and they'll happily make recommendations about what to try if you're unsure or undecided. My husband and I sometimes go there for a Sri Lankan breakfast, with curry and parathas. Quite often, I'll pop in when I'm out shopping to pick up some snacks from the counter. All freshly made samosas, roti rolls, fish bun, mutton rolls etc, and really cheap, like £1.25 each. They have amazing bread loaves to buy on top of the counter, and a fridge with Sri Lankan desserts (watalappan & milk cake), and drinks like King Coconut juice or Wood Apple juice.

Same. You can get the burgers and smokies from Best Butchers.

I heard that Deliveroo or Uber eats fucked them over which is what caused them to go out of business. Such a shame, I miss the burger so much

They originally got their meat from Best Butchers in Great Brickhill which is where Rowley's, which people rightly rave about, get theirs from.
