Trying to build my first ever pc (I’m 27)

Hello,
For this first PC that I'm finally going to buy shortly, I've come up with a configuration that I'm sharing with you here. Of course, we can discuss it so that I can have several opinions.
Intel core i7 - 14700k 5.6 GHz Motherboard : asus Z790-P DDR 5 Ram 2 x 16 go DDR 5 GeForce RTX 5070 SSD : 2 To Water cooling : Corsair icue link titan 280 rx Power supply : 750 w Network card and Lan port
Price(Switzerland):~ 2250 $ /~ 1950 € /~ 1820 CHF
That's the budget I can't exceed.
I'm not sure whether I'm going to play in 1440p or 4K, I've got a 1440p screen at home, so I'm already going to try it like that and maybe one day go to 4K. I play multiplayer as well as single-player games.
So what do you think?

I wouldn't recommend Intel CPUs for gaming right now.

Thanks for your comment, and I've just realised that my screen is compatible with amd for sync and not Intel...
Luckyirishdevil@reddit
AMD Freesync Monitor tech is for an AMD GPU.

A little bit lower in this post, someone told me that today it matters less than in the past !
Luckyirishdevil@reddit
It's nice to have, but not very important. It just matches the number of frames your GPU puts out to your monitor so you dont get frame tearing.
RheajfoDolphin@reddit
AMD's better rn, but Intel's still solid for some buildss!

Thanks bro !!

Buy ryzen instead of intel

My suggestion: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/8J3w2x
I did originally put in the cheapest 9070XT available on PPP but I felt like the 5080 wasn't that much different and it isn't if you can get one for MSRP, bringing your build costs to around $2K USD, and of course, this all does depend on market availability as something cheap in the US could be expensive in CH.
I should note one thing about the specs you provided, the 280mm AIO has the iCue Link controller and does not work with ARGB hubs like the Corsair Dominator and if you had a system, for example, a Titan iCue 280mm + 3500X ARGB case, it'd be incredibly annoying to manage the backside.
Let me know of any thoughts, comments, or concerns!

Bro your config is fire but I tried to get what you pick in pcpartpicker and in CH, I’m like around 3000 $ and it’s way above my initial budget. However, I will take inspiration from some of your suggestions, thank you!
RandomPersonOnZeWeb@reddit
You cheapen in a few areas, I was just making the most out of general prices in the US (outside of the $300 over MSRP 5080).
A 7800X3D and a B650 board could cheapen out by around $200 alone and try out what a 9070XT would look like. If the GPU is still a problem consider the regular 9070, which is around $150-200 less here in the US. That *should* get you below budget, hopefully.

Yeah I’ll take a closer look to all of this stuff to build it for sure, even if I cheapen I would have a great pc for that budget.
Bro it’s a bit out of context but for the graphic card, what’s the difference between a 5070 msi or a 5070 asus for example ? What does this mean in practical terms ?
RandomPersonOnZeWeb@reddit
It means absolutely nothing. The difference for aesthetics or brand loyalty. The only "difference" between these types of cards is if they include a factory OC which they usually charge more for, but it has extremely little to no performance differences at all. Or, it's a different fan card style, smaller builds in mATX or ITX builds like to use dual or single slot fans more than the usual triple fan, but again, very little performance drops between these.

Bro you are literally killin’ it, I’m a bit lost and you make everything clear, thanks for your help, let me know if you want to know about the update I’m gonna make for the config !! The 5080 is a bit much for me ahah but I can manage something great with the others specs !

Bro I did something really quick CPU : AMD 9080 X3D CPU cooler : Corsair nautilus 250 W - 240 RS Motherboard: gigabyte B850 aorus elite RAM : 32 Go - 2x16 Go DDR5 - 6000 MHz Video card : GeForce RTX 5070 SSD : 2 To gen 4 Power supply : 750 W
Price : ~ 2400 (a bit higher than my budget)
What do you think ?
RandomPersonOnZeWeb@reddit
I would really stick with an air cooler for price to performance but I've heard good things about the Nautilus. I only suggest this so you can fit in a 850w PSU and a maybe grab a 9070xt/9070 instead.
No-Maintenance4335@reddit (OP)
Okay, the only thing I do since we’re talking’ is that I learn from you so I have 3 questions : 1) Why a 850w ? The recommandation with the config is ~ 600w + 25% just in case = 750w, what’s the benefit of a 850w ? Even with a 9070 ? 2) If I stick to the nvidia 5070, and my monitor is amd compatible only, is there a problem ? 3) a 9070 is way better than a 5070 ? Idk why but I protect Nvidia without any real reasons.
Thanks a lot bro you’re the best !!
RandomPersonOnZeWeb@reddit
850w is pretty standard, with anything less *usually* costs about the same or more from a highly a rated unit via SPL's PSU tierlist, and computer components get hungrier as time goes on.
there would be no problem. AMD/Radeon and Nvidia have their own display technology that can be utilized only by their cards. Radeon utilizes Freesync tech while Nvidia uses G-Sync but the argument about either of them have became less relevant when choosing a monitor nowadays.
the 9070 is 3-7% faster depending on whether youre playing on 1080p or 1440p, and I imagine it'll scale at 4K too, unless you're using raytracing, in which they seem to average out. Just comes down to price at the end of the day.

I think I’ll go with the 850w then just in case one day I update my setup
Mhhh okay, interesting, that’s a good news, i thought it could cause some pbs.
I think I’ll stick to the 5070, I’m gonna play on 1440p first and if I update my monitor to a 4K I’m gonna update my gpu, (in like 3/4 years)
What do you think ?
RandomPersonOnZeWeb@reddit
Sounds good!

Thanks for your comment, I needed to traducte it but I understand everything ! Thank you.
One last point, the 5000 gen for the GeForce are available since march 2025 if I’m not wrong !
Take a look !

Very few people will recommend intel, especially 14th gen, for a gaming pc
AM5 is the common recommendation, with the 7800x3d or 9800x3d as the best gaming cpus available
Pcpartpicker.com checks compatibility and the lists are more legible

Thank you for your advices ! And thanks for the website, I’ll take a closer look to the new amd cpu !!
