As the title suggests, I'm looking to make a pesto paste for pasta/sandwiches etc. with fresh basil and will need a bunch (or two) of it

Lowe’s. Best thing is you’ll have a continuous supply of

Umm, the grocery store?

Never seen bunches of basil in grocery stores ( tomorrow thumb/walmart) in the area, only those few stems packed in plastic boxes.. Maybe I'll have a closer look next time

HEB sells larger quantities in plastic cups in produce

Yep, you can get fresh basil in the produce section of any grocery store. Typically near the mushrooms

Which grocery stores? I never see it at Tom Thumb, just the paste in the tube

Tom Thumb definitely sells it. I buy it all the time. It’s either in loose bunches or plastic cartons in the produce section.
Or Kroger, or Sprouts, or Market Street. Even Walmart.

Okay I will have to look harder next time because I’ll find all the other random herbs but never fresh basil. Thank you for confirming they have it at least!

Seems to be a passive ask for someone elses basil

We've got a bunch of lemon basil that we would be happy parting with, can be cut the day you need it. We don't use any pesticides or sprays

My house. My raised garden is covered in it. You can have it all.

Trader Joe's. NOT a basil plant, but near the grape tomatoes they'll have a giant tub of basil.

Our North Texas weather will possibly get cold around November or December. It means you can still pick up some seeds or starter plants and get basil this year.
Otherwise, I've typically seen such basil bunches at the grocery stores, and Asian grocery stores have other types of basil as well if you want slightly different flavors .
Also check on nextdoor (app) and see if any local persons have excess basil for sell or for free.

Just say you want free basil
