One of my old jets from Mountain Aviation. Had the classic Textron paint when I was working with it. A fleet of over 40 Citation Xs means a lot of jets in the hangars at any given time. I would read through the mx control slack channel when I needed a good laugh.
They look cool, but talking to the guys who fly them for a living, they're apparently kind of a dog to fly. Sure they're fast, but they handle like shit, at least that's what I've been told.
Correct. I said “why they paint it in big letters on their plane”. It’s 135; pretty unusual to fly 135 with such bold branding. But they’re pretty much supplemental lift, so its up to the broker to care or hear about it from pax.
I'm not sure that is correct. The only business jet that I know of that has been able to achieve supersonic flight is the Bombardier Global 8000, and that was with the aircraft in a slightly nose-down attitude (in other words, extremely shallow dive). The fastest recorded speed was just over Mach 1.
Edit: here is a great article about the Global 8000.
I don't have any sources to defend it, other than a close friend who is a X pilot that has a conversation with one of their test pilots who said they got it to M1.2 before they had engine overheating issues. Totally understand that me saying this doesn't make it true but I wholeheartedly believe it's true. It's the fastest private jet in the world though.
So while it's not official my old boss worked on the development team for the X, and was part of the flight testing. Apparently it was extremely easy to get the aircraft over Mach, and they had trouble slowing it down. Of course I have no source but his, but after seeing one in person, and working on them, I do not doubt it one bit. That thing is way over engined and the wing sweep is damn impressive. That aircraft will move.

I still can't fathom why Baker paints "rodeo" on some of their planes..

Favorite fact about the X is that they managed to get it up to M1.2 in flight testing.

So I've never found an official source, but my old boss said the same thing about it. Apparently the X can move.

Citation X is current FAI speed around the world westbound record holder.

I live next to a private airport and we get some Citation X action, really an awesome plane.
